Random paintings and plenty of blunt objects. The gym is hidden behind the laundry room and an abandoned speakeasy. I am waiting for the lights to go out and for there to be a blood curdling scream. 10/10, no notes. Oh and the staff is helpful in helping you find your room in this maze of a hotel. :)

Séjour agréable dans cet hôtel Le personnel est très sympathique et serviable La configuration de l’hôtel est assez particulière avec beaucoup d’escaliers qui montent et qui descendent, ce qui ne facilite pas le transport des valises. Notre chambre n’avait aucune fenêtre sur l’extérieur mais on entendait malgré tout assez distinctement les bruits du couloir. Le petit déjeuner était très bon mais la salle étant petite il nous a fallu patienter avant de pouvoir y accéder.

WOW!!!! Very unique and fun property. Loved the art work throughout the hotel. They have a small bar that we enjoyed drinks while talking with the bar tender. Staff were very nice and welcoming and offered suggestions for food and activities. Breakfast was excellent and offered several options. Parking is across the street and gated. There are several restaurants within a 10 min walk and we enjoyed 2 of them. Area was mostly locals, which added to the charm of visiting. Would stay here again!

THE GOOD: Great boutique hotel with very friendly front desk staff, clean and interesting rooms, nice terrace and other sitting areas. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit and juice, latte coffee, and choice of eggs or omelet. There is also a workout gym ($6 daily fee), a few good restaurants and two markets within easy walking distance. THE BAD: For some reason the maid never made up my room in the three days I was there. The first day I put the sign on the door indicating the room was available to be cleaned; nothing happened. Since both sides of the sign are red, I thought maybe the maid mistook the sign for the DO NOT DISTURB side. So the next day I did not put any sign out. Still no maid service. I did not mention it because I can do without service as a solo traveler, but I did think it unprofessional, especially since I was in a premium room.

Esta vez me tocó una habitación en el piso de abajo. Tenía un leve olor a mojo que se sentía al entrar, cosa que no sentía en las ocasiones anteriores cuando he quedado en habitaciones en el segundo piso. El personal es muy agradable y servicial. El hotel es lindo, el barrio es bonito con acceso a muchos servicios dentro de 1 a 2 kms. Estacionamiento seguro.

The property was quite charming, interesting and quaint with eclectic paintings and little nooks. Our room and bathroom was clean and very spacious. The beds had actual wood frames so it felt very inviting. We have enjoyed staying at Casa Roland and would definitely recommend it to our friends.

The manager, Jesie is so kind and she will go out of your her way to help you. Amazing person always a big smile on her face. She makes her stay welcome and warm and delightful. The staff were amazing. The hotel is like antique. It’s beautiful, but my bathroom had a terrible smell.

Hotel magnifique décoré avec des tableaux somptueux. Petit dejeuner excellent. Dommage qu'on nous ait donné une chambre aveugle tout au fond de l'hotel qui est immense. La fenêtre donnait sur un mur nous n'avions ni vue ni lumière c'était triste et étouffant. Heureusement nous n'y sommes restés qu'une nuit.

Lovely hotel, full of art and culture. Comfortable beds, good shower, large room, friendly staff, cosy places to sit and chill. 10 mins walk to nice Peruvian Ceviche restaurant, and there were other options around. Fantastic transfer to airport from hotel arranged by hotel - such a friendly man who was waiting in our corridor to help carry our luggage to the car. Would definitely stay again for the convenience.

This is a BEAUTIFUL boutique hotel! Lots of art and plants! The breakfast was wonderful…we ordered from several options from a menu and it was freshly cooked. Short drive to the airport… the only negative at all was there is not hot water in the shower.

OK, there is good and not so good. Good first, quirky, fascinating, rambling, friendly, an art gallery in a hotel. An experience worth having. Not so good, some nights can be noisy if you are next to the road ( bar next door). We got moved due to noise and ended up in a windowless room which was a little musty ( I say windowless, it has a window with a wall 6" behind it). Also it is a little distance away from his restaurants. Overall we enjoyed it.

Decent hotel but the keycard stopped working multiple times during our stay and it was annoying. There was also no access to a washing machine which really sucked for our long stay. Front desk told us we could have the cleaning lady do it but who wants random people washing their personables. The free breakfast was not bad! great for the price.

Me hicieron sentir como en casa desde el primer momento: todos fueron muy atentos, serviciales y siempre dispuestos a ayudar con una sonrisa. Hotel Casa Roland is a one-of-a-kind place to stay! It’s quirky in a fun sort of way, with original artwork everywhere. Getting to your room may feel like you’re in a maze! It’s very clean, the breakfasts are great, and best of all, the service is fabulous—provided by a friendly & extremely helpful staff. Highly recommended!!!

The hotel is very clean and quite. The service was extremely good. The breakfast was well above expectations. (They had a menu of about 10 or 12 options). The only thing that I did not care for is that it is not really near anything, so I had to take a taxi. I prefer walking to dining, etc.

We liked staying here. It had some "interesting" art that was for sure somting to talk about. It was convenient to the airport but not to downtown. However we only needed to be close to the airport. The best part was the breakfast. I would stay here again on another trip back to San Jose

A lovely and quiet hotel. I needed a night here on the way to the airport so it was a good location for that but it is in a quiet residential neighbourhood and not close to much else. There is a busy shopping street with some fast food options and simple shopping if necessary.

Bon point d’entrée à San jose. Calme avec tout ce qui faut autour mais faut être motorisé pour se rendre dans le centre ville. Parking gratuit, gardé et à proximité de l’hôtel. Personnel très sympa. Propreté irréprochable. Bon rapport qualité prix. Je recommande vivement.

I loved the breakfast, it was supreme among hotels even in the U.S. the only comparable one in the U.S. was at The Residence Inn in St. Louis, MO. The room exceeded my expectations but the loading and unloading zone space was difficult to get to and were basically on a very busy street, which you had to cross to park. Also, each time you needed to access the vehicle you had to get the desk to open the gate from across the street.

This is my go-to hotel in San Jose. I appreciate the staff and the decor. The facilities are in great condition and the neighborhood is a pleasant residential area but just blocks away there is a bustling business district. As a native of a northern hemisphere country, I glory in the heated shower that uses a hot-water tank for truly hot showers, not the kind that take the edge off the cold at the site of the shower head. The breakfast is generous and offers various options. They were a little overwhelmed with a large group at the time I had breakfast and forgot to come back with a breakfast item they had offered to me. It wasn't important to me, so I didn't say anything. I'm sure if I had said something, they would have brought it to me.
