Great hotel. Warm reception, good food, good service. Building is older but inside the hotel it looks like it was refurbished recently with the exception of the poo, gym & changing rooms which are quite tired and in need of upgrade

A good value hotel in an excellent central position. Pleasant interiors and clean. Ample parking £10 a night. I would have given a 5 star review as the pillows were flat and uncomfortable with no choice of alternatives. Bed was comfy though.

Generally very friendly and helpful staff, who went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We were also given a room upgrade for our silver wedding anniversary and staff had organised prosecco and chocolates as a present from our family, with which we were greeted as we entered the room. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and it would be good if the same could be done to the pool area, which is nice, but looking rather tired after years of being left as it is. Only a very minor point, though, which didn't impact on the enjoyment of our stay. We have visited this hotel several times before and always enjoyed our stays. It is ideally situated for exploring Solihull and the Touchwood shopping centre and only half an hour from Birmingham too.

The Voco st John's was a lovely hotel located near the heart of Solihull town center.Our one night stay was fabulous and the room was very spacious with a modern bathroom. The pool area was slightly outdated with slight mould growing in some areas however there were convinient sunlounders spaced carefully around the area perfect if you want a break during your swim. In addition to this , there was a steam room and a jacuzzi. We had a restful nights sleep however the air conditioning was failing to work and noise could be heard from above. Breakfast was brilliant with welcoming and kind staff. The breakfast options catered every need with vegetarian ,vegan, and gluten free options. We recieved complimentary late checkout as an IHG member

Only biggest downside of this hotel. - Was not exactly the most soundproof of rooms - The hallways were a little dated and needed some much needed TLC - There's no nice view really so keep your curtains shut.

I have stayed here a few times and normally fine however this time I was unlucky and got a room near some loud people so asked to move at 11pm and told them I was a light sleeper but they put me in a room near the main road and I could hear vehicles passing all night! Also had a huge stain on the towel provided in the bathroom,

The food in the restaurant was poor, the steak was very gristly, I ordered it with potatoes and it came with chips, how can you make that mistake. When I brought this to their attention, they applied a discount without me asking, however, the discounted figure was still far to much for what I ate. We have been to this hotel previously and the food was good, so not aware to what has changed. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and the room was not cleaned after the first night, not what you would expect from an IHG hotel.

Inside the bath there was an ugly looking mark. It looked like something like an insect or poop. I tried to run run water over it. It did not come off. When I went inside the bath to take a shower. I saw it was a rust mark. The whole of the bath was worn out. In a very unsafe condition. I mention to the receptionist that I am shocked. It is an area really cleaned. Do the motel not care about public safety. A hotel bathroom should not look like this I

Booked "standard room, 1 king bed" but these rooms only have queen beds. Made a big difference as we specifically looked for hotels with king beds. It was also a very long walk from reception to the room. Clean and modern though.

Great stay whilst we were at an event at NEC. Arrived at checkin which was very friendly and efficient. Room was pleasent - big bed, slight odd (sort of square rather then rectangle) pillows, very comfortable but had to change my normal sleeping position to accomadate it. Bed was perfect! Bathroom nice a clean and plenty of hot water for showers. Location was great - we walked into town for dinner, in under 5 minutes there was a huge choice of eateries. We had breakfast in the morning, decent quality, good choice of food, friendly service. Wouldnt hesitate to stay here again if we're in the area.

Really disappointed from the moment I checked in. 1 person only on check in & said she was the manager The queue to check in or speak with reception was best 4 deep & worst case 10 people at same time & no one else, you would expect better from a IHG hotel. First issue was around charging for parking, which I challenged as a paying client as each time previously I have stayed there, my details was put in and told that no charge. Now the manager was saying that I have to pay whether I like it or not. She was sadly rude in how she spoke to me. I got to my room only to see that I had ordered a room with a King sized bed and the bed was a double. I went back down to reception as although I rang down, no answer and through to answerphone. Another queue at reception, this is now peak time and 3 people in front of me. When I finally got served she then went on to berate me that the bed was a king size and eventually said she would move me to another room. She said I should have just rung from the room & she would have dealt with it, which I did but explained that the phone went through to answerphone. I went back to the room & moved my belongings only to get to the room & the key wouldn't work. I now had to go back down to reception again with my belongings another queue, she said I should have rang, but explained I couldn’t get in the room! Went back to room, bed not a king sized although room bigger. Queue was 10 deep. When it was my turn it was clear she was angry &

I check into the hotel around 11.30pm. I was assigned room 311 and I made my way to the room. I open the door of the room and I found a lady in bed watching the telly. We were both in shock!! I made my way back to reception and let the guy at the check in desk know. He simply said that the room was vacant on the hotel system. He assigned me a new room which was indeed vacant. This is a huge blunder especially with regards to safety and security. How can this happen?? Aside from that rooms are very nice, comfy beds, very clean except a huge web that had been missed. Breakfast below average, leisure centre changing rooms on the dirty side.

Generally very friendly and helpful staff, who went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We were also given a room upgrade for our silver wedding anniversary and staff had organised prosecco and chocolates as a present from our family, with which we were greeted as we entered the room. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and it would be good if the same could be done to the pool area, which is nice, but looking rather tired after years of being left as it is. Only a very minor point, though, which didn't impact on the enjoyment of our stay. We have visited this hotel several times before and always enjoyed our stays. Wonderful overnight stay for my sons 17th birthday. Room was lovely very clean with various tea, coffe and hot chocolate sachets with kettle in the room. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer in the room. Shower was amazing with lovely shampoo conditioner and bodywash available. Comfy beds and pillows. Staff were lovely. Lucy receptionist was amazing. I had a birthday banner and balloons for my sons birthday on the sunday. Lucy stayed after her shift and set these up in the restaurant reserved a table for breakfast for us. Above and beyond customer service. Breakfast was amazing with huge amounts of choice. We were late up in the morning and should have checked out by 11am. I asked if we could extend the room as my son needed to shower, no problem. Pool was lovely. Definitely would go vack.

A good value hotel in an excellent central position. Pleasant interiors and clean. Ample parking £10 a night. I would have given a 5 star review as the pillows were flat and uncomfortable with no choice of alternatives. Bed was comfy though.

• Room was massive, spacious and clean with a lovely bathroom • Staff were all friendly and lovely • Complimentary flapjack on arrival • Parking was good and so many spaces available • Best breakfast we have ever had in a hotel • Easy walking distance to shopping centre • Bar was okay and decent selection of drinks - Swimming pool hot tub was ok but the changing rooms was nothing short of shocking and disgusting. Only biggest downside of this hotel. - Was not exactly the most soundproof of rooms - The hallways were a little dated and needed some much needed TLC - There's no nice view really so keep your curtains shut.

We were given a warm welcome in the modern reception. Our room was spacious and seemed to have been recently refurbished. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening, where the food was well presented, a generous portion and very tasty. The food at breakfast was also plentiful and excellent, with a large selection to choose from.However the cafetière of coffee was served lukewarm. Although the bedroom was spacious, it was not particularly well designed, with limited wardrobe space and an extremely small basin, even though there was plenty of opportunity to create a better surround. We visited on our trip to Cadbury world with our 6 year old grandson Had an excellent stay. Staff really helpful. Plentiful breakfast, lots of choice and freshly cooked. Pancakes and bacon amazing! Very accomodating with grandson. Room was amazing, massive bed, really comfy. Appreciated complimentary bottled water. Only hotel ive ever stayed in that provided decaff tea bags in room. Huge plus for me. Couldnt fault our stay, would definitely stay again. Cant comment on pool as we didnt really get chance to use it.

The food in the restaurant was poor, the steak was very gristly, I ordered it with potatoes and it came with chips, how can you make that mistake. When I brought this to their attention, they applied a discount without me asking, however, the discounted figure was still far to much for what I ate. We have been to this hotel previously and the food was good, so not aware to what has changed. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and the room was not cleaned after the first night, not what you would expect from an IHG hotel.

Was visiting for the NEC Games Expo. Hotel conveniently located just a short drive away. Facilites and room really nice with lots of parking available. Parking fee was £10 for the night which I was aware off but something to keep in mind. Had diner and breakfast at the hotel and food and service were great. A lovely and convenient location for our family trip.

I was greeted by a less than friendly receptionist and can now train people on how to apply a wowcher coupon on their system as I spent 20 minutes listening how to do it. The room was OK but most of the hotel needs a reno, particularly the pool. Also didn't replenish drinks etc daily, didn't replace empty tissues and there was no spare toilet roll (actually ran out). It's almost impossible to get soap/shampoo out of the dispensers because of how they are fitted for security. It's too expensive to be this cheap...
