The Boulder Broker

There is no bar, restaurant or cafe as advertised. The sinks in our adjoining rooms were dirty and leaking. We ended up leaving early and finding another hotel that fit our needs.

This inexpensive hotel is good value, but next time I will pay more to get more. Positives: my room and the premises were very clean, A/C was very quiet, and the floor I was on (4th) was exceptionally quiet (I think I was the only one on the floor). The front desk staff were very friendly. And the hotel is just 100 yards from the famous Kicking Horse bar. (though note: locals tell me this bar is slated to close in the near future). Negatives: I seldom had working wifi, which meant I could not work in my room. The front desk staff acknowledged the problem but offered no solution. There is no breakfast option or restaurant. The room and hallways were perfumed, presumably to cover less pleasant odors. The location only makes sense if you have a car or enjoy long walks. Again, the price was very good, and if price is important to you, then I do recommend this charming, aging hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised that the bar and gathering area had been nicely updated and is huge. Staff were friendly. There is great potential for the Broker to be a place for game days and after parties. The word needs to get out that the Broker is a cool place to gather!

The bar restaurant in pool area was actually pretty unique and fun. The staff was great. The room was meh. You're looking for a place to sleep, this is a great place to sleep. If you're looking to actually spend time in your room go elsewhere. The only water in the bathroom was piping hot. Shower was miserable. The room was very dark, had poor lighting and the AC didn't work that great. The room you could say is outdated, very dark and dreary, kind of depressing honestly. But it got me out and about and exploring the town!

The property appears to have not been updated in 30 years. There was no dining or exercise facilities even though signs on the property claim that they have a restaurant and exercise (swimming) facilities. It was incredibly noisy in the middle of the night with doors slamming and guests arguing in the hallways.

Restaurant was not open, pool was not open, there is no hot tub. They have strange rules for when the restaurant and pool are open. The bathroom needs to be updated really badly! Old mattresses, the towels were very poor quality and had rips in them. They have clearly spent money on the lobby and restaurant and hallways, but that’s where the updates stopped. We paid $140 a night for a hotel that we couldn’t use any of the “amenities”.

Could use some updates but it’s a great location. Especially for Boulder Boulder runners. Wish the restaurant was open.

The hotel was horrible. Run down, sagging beds, sinks that didn't drain, toilets that didn't flush, stained carpets and even a mini fridge in the bathtub! No restaurant, no bar, no pool...even though they are still on the website. The woman at the front desk tried her best, but her hands were tied. At least we got a refund.

They only had French vanilla creamer for the coffee and the restaurant was closed. It was in a nice little area except the shopping center around the corner was somewhat sketchy.

The web site lies. No restaurant, no coffee. Old in bad repair or no repair. Needs renovation.

Clogged tub, bathroom vent not working, rooms don’t get cleaned up at all. Hotels smells bad

The property is well located near the will village at cu boulder . The maintenance is so so and the overall structure is old. The cleaning is the aspect more important. The have carpet ( old one ) everywhere and need a deep cleaning. The air conditioner is noisy and when I reach my room (414 ) was unclean and full of dust!! My first hour in the room I spent to cleaning a spraying Lysol disinfectant.

Hallway smell outside of room was horrible... Building itself was great with lots of history. Staff was super friendly! Check-in was easy and I would stay here again.

By far the grossest room ive ever seen. Stains on carpets and mattress. Tried to switch rooms and the second room was even worse. Spiders in bathroom, dirt and mold near ac unit. We didnt stay i lost all my money as a refund was not grante. But i wouldnt feel safe sleeping in a place like this.

The property had a old smell to it and we didn't receive any house keeping in the three days we stayed. Seemed weird 🤔

Could be one of the dirtiest hotels I have stayed in. Room was dirty, hallways always dirty, elevtaers were dirty, no cleaning of the room. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The staff was extremely polite and professional. Unfortunately the hotel itself is poorly maintained and dirty. I left two days early and checked into a different hotel because the room smelled like a unclean locker room. The curtains were stained and smelled as well. The tub didn’t drain well. All the rooms were full due to move in time for CU Boulder students. Since, I was traveling out of State I thought the hotel conveniently close to the CU boulder campus. The condition of the hotel shows that the owners obviously do not reinvest in maintain the hotel. Although, it was close to that CU Boulder campus I would absolutely never stay there again unless a new owner or management took over to revamp the place.

Very dirty, no extra lock on the door, shower clogged, no fan in the bathroom, check in staff was unfriendly and cold. Overall poorly kept.

It was really hot in the room even though the thermostat was at 61. The outlet was falling out of the wall and wiggly. It also smelled really bad in the hallway and elevator. It was clean in the room though nd the bedding was very comfortable

I really want to love this place, but it's not quite there yet. It's such a cool property with good bones and a ton of potential, but needs some further updating. The rooms: Spacious and the AC, while perhaps a little loud, worked great. The bed was new and updated, new comfy linens, nice fluffy towels. The carpet needed an update, and as other noted, there was a small modern coffee maker, but no coffee was provided in-room. It wasn't the cleanest room, but it was definitely the most economical room in walking distance to the campus. We got coupons for free coffees in the Swim Club coffee shop, but despite wandering around for 10 minutes on the Sunday morning of literally CU move-in weekend, we couldn't find anyone to dispense the coffee, so eventually left. Seemed like a good day to have the coffee shop staffed. There were no pics of the pool area on any of the websites, so I didn't know to bring a suit, but some reviews mention it being quite large and cool, so i'm bummed i missed it. The pool table/entertainment area is really cool, but needs music or something? I felt like i wasn't welcome in that space. Pros: the clerk graciously gave us an early check-in which we really appreciated. Parking was free and plentiful. The room was quiet! They've maintained some of the old school broker feeling in the lobby -- that doesn't need updating, it's so cool! If you are familiar with the chain of McMenamins in the northwest, this could be just as fun a draw with a little help!

This property is a 2 star at best. Hot day in Boulder and the air conditioning could not keep up. Told the desk...their response was "sometimes when I unplug it and start it again it works fine". ( I actually did this..lifted the whole exterior cover off (1 foot by 3 feet) to get to the plug. Put the desk light on the ground because no light i other in that area. Got down on my stomach and removed the plug from the uncovered socket. Next...3 yes just 3 kleenexes. Next...straight shower curtain rod bearly holding on by a flimsy screw half out. (Oh sorry...I will be positive...half in..) Next...shower knob just functional enough with some help and jimmying. Next....old still Motel 6 towels quality...thin as a runny pancake...Oh yeah,,,Next...all sockets by the work desk connect to the frig, lamp, TV, and cable box. Wanna work on your computer? Pick which amenity you don\'t want powered. And finally...Next...could use the bathroom sockets to charge phone because they were so loose, the cord fell right out...

I have stayed here several times and this was the worst room yet. Very old, uncomfortable bed, and no amenities. Property is convenient to CU Boulder however.

great place and convenient to everything. my only complaint is that the internet in the room was horrible!

Clean room, air worked perfectly, view of the pool. Restaurants within walking distance

No wifi x 4 days, unusable outlets, poorly draining tub, toilet running, stains on upper wall from previous water damage,no vents, construction during the day for renovation.

The room was clean, had microwave & fridge. Tv worked after I put an order to have it fixed. The hotel is charming, location is good. The low score was because the hotel had no working wifi for the 3 full nights/days I stayed there. There were meetings I take late at night & early morning - I could not do. What was worse is that there was enough wifi for a phone connection but not enough strength for a laptop even in lobby. So, for the first 24 hrs- I had my company help desk on the phone. The front desk staff were polite about it, both gentleman and lady explained they were having problems with the vendor, However, they had no working solutions for me at all. Finally there was a manager on the day, I was checking out who continued to tell me about his frustrations with the vendor - when I told him I didn’t care about his problems & that I lost 3 days of work - the response was rude and they said you could have gone to a different hotel. Upon leaving, I suggested they try a different provider - front desk yelled and said he didn’t want to talk to me anymore and that I should not have have gotten a cheap $79 room on Expedia for the room. BTW, I paid $100 and cashed all my rewards for this stay. So now I am even more pissed, I overpaid.This whole thing could have been turned around had they tried to appease me, offer discounts or anything. Customer service isn’t just about asking guests to check out when they know the hotels are sold out when something isn’t working.

Great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Close walk to a nice Italian restaurant. Value for Boulder

It is an older hotel but very well located for taking our granddaughter to her freshman year at CU Boulder. Nice area to walk/run in - lots of trails and paths. Joseph at the front desk was personable and very good. WiFi is spotty and the restaurant is not open but there are many good eating places nearby. While not new or updated, it is the most reasonably priced hotel in the area.

Beautiful and elegant the reception area has a load of charm. We felt comfortable in our room and our car was safe. The location was perfect for our weekend activities in Boulder at CU and Chautauqua Park. Staff was friendly and helpful and the coffee was great!

This is an older building but my room was clean and quiet, and the staff were lovely. It's an unbeatable location if you're visiting a student in Will Vill.

It’s a great hotel and staff is friendly. It’s close to University so it was perfect.

Absolutely best location if your college student is moving in at Will Vill! Darley Hall is literally across the street. They can drop in when they need you, even late at night. Super helpful staff!

This hotel is beautiful! There is a restaurant inside and the food was great. And the staff was super helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel's restaurant should open a little earlier. There was coffee in lobby though

The Boulder Inn is a very unique experience. It feels like you’re stepping into the 50’s, with wood and stained glass. Everyone who worked there was lovely, and there’s a great coffee bar and bar area. The Swim Club is a free pool attached to the hotel with retro vibes. The rooms arent “new” but are clean and accommodating! We loved our stay and will be returning!

We did enjoy having the Swim Club Bar and Restaurant and location is great. But the beds and pillows were old and uncomfortable. There were bugs coming in from the window. Shower tiles were popping off. Shower drain backs up. Place is so outdated. Pictures on Expedia are extremely misleading.

Overall everything was great. The Boy Scout functions dominated the beginning of my stay, so, at first, I was disappointed to not have breakfast my first day. A jump into the pool cured all that. The fires had everyone on edge. The staff bent over backwards to help me when I thought I'd lost my wallet. I didn't lose it, though. Thank you to the kind people at the Broker. I loved the food in the bar area. Excellent service too.
