This is not a hotel and it does not have a pool. Showers are only on certain floors and usually locked. So you will have to take a shower at an odd time of day. Pics are of neighboring Lantana wellness center with pool for additional $40/ day. Worst hotel out of 500 hotels that I have ever stayed in. I asked for full refund due to fraudulent advertising, but was rejected. Motel 6 is better. Also, tiny bathroom towels.

Just be aware that this is not a hotel, it is a hostel. We booked a family room and shared a bathroom with the entire 3rd floor which meant it was occupied the majority of the time. Plus there is no shower on the 3rd floor, only on the 2nd. The building itself is nice and the restaurant was actually quite good. The accomodation itself is clean but basic and the bathroom situation is limiting.

This is a hostel. I did have a private bath but I was not expecting a hostel. It was VERY expensive and the online add was misleading with photos of a pool and hot tub. They were advertisements/photos for nearby hot springs that charge $50 per person to use and that's after the discount from the hostel. Would not return.

Die Lage ist schön am See. Das Personal war freundlich und das Frühstück preislich angemessen. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Gemeinschaftsbad. Leider waren die Anzahl zum Duschen und der Toilette sehr gering im Vergleich zur Zimmeranzahl. Bei voller Belegung wäre dies zu wenig.

The Guesthouse is situated near the lake with great surroundings. The check in process is quick and the guest room is clean. The staffs we met are very friendly. The continental breakfast is decent for the price. The issues to us were 1) the shared shower rooms and bathrooms; 2) noise from next door. It looks there are only one shower for male and two for female for the entire second floor of more that 20 plus guest rooms. We feel these bathrooms and showrooms are least clean ones we encountered in Iceland. The property is a conversion of a historical building and was not fully sound proof, so you can hear what the noise from next door.

The room layout is worse than in a typical college dorm - two beds are together and not separate. Practically no closet space and drawer space. Rooms on top floor are under the roof slant that decreases room volume. But the worst thing is the scarcity of bathrooms - there is only 1 bathroom on the 3rd floor and only 2 bathrooms on the 2nd floor. Completely inadequate for the number of rooms in this guesthouse. The quality of rooms and amenities is only 2 stars (or even 1 star). The only nice thing about this guesthouse was the restaurant (good food and service, very reasonably priced) and the friendliness of staff (even though the front desk closes at 9 p.m.)

L’hôtel est charmant ! La chambre dans laquelle nous étions était assez petite mais confortable et bien décorée. Les parties communes (hall de l’hôtel, salon, salle de restauration) sont très agréables ! A noter : pas de vraie cuisine mais juste une bouilloire et un micro onde. Petit bémol pour les salles de bain des parties communes qui n’étaient pas ultra propres mais pas catastrophiques non plus !

Very relaxed casual atmosphere. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and enjoyed them both. Nice blackout blinds in the room. Very close to the Fontana spa which is very convenient.

Staff here were excellent. The property is cute, they’ve kept a lot of the historical elements. Room was small but adequate. The onsite restaurant was good (there are not many options in this small of a town). Breakfast was oatmeal, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, fruit and vegetables. And pancakes. Very walkable to the Fontana hot springs. Easy access point for the golden circle also.

The only issue we had was the noise in the hall coming through the door and walls till everyone settled down at night. Otherwise a nice stay and location. Hot spring pool just down the street. Also several restaurants close by.

While the room was clean and comfortable we couldn’t sleep. Parties and loud noises all night. We wanted to rest and ended up having a terrible night. No one cared about the noise. I asked them if it’s normally like this. Terrible place to stay.

A striking building on a large property with a beautiful lake view. Parking and check in was super easy. The shared bathrooms were well maintained and not too hard to find a free shower or toilet. Rooms were huge but the artwork is vintage and could be unsettling for some. Our rooms had an embroidered clown wall hanging… This was a great stay for my group as it was close enough to popular attractions.

Móttökurnar voru mjög hlýlegar, skemmtilegar og fræðandi. Fengum áhugavert yfirlit yfir söguna og gaman að sjá stílinn og yfirbragðið á þessari gömlu og virðulegu byggingu. Prýðis kvöldverður og morgunmatur.Takk fyrir okkur

Very convenient location if you are visiting sights along the Golden Circle. The staff were friendly, and the check-in process was very smooth. The restaurant was great - our pizza was delicious! Would recommend to anyone traveling along the Golden Circle!

Lugar muito encantador na beira do lago. Recomendo com certeza! A casa é muito agradável, aconchegante e bem decorada. Fica muito perto do Golden Circle, então pode fazer o passeio e dormir lá depois. Eu com certeza voltaria. Alem de tudo, a equipe é muito simpatica e gentil. Vimos aurora boreal há 5 minutos de carro do hotel. Sonho!

Beautiful location, close to a lovely hot spring spa with a 10% discount with staying here, historic building. Downside was the bright lights outside the window without blackout shades made it difficult to sleep.

Staff here were excellent. The property is cute, they’ve kept a lot of the historical elements. Room was small but adequate. The onsite restaurant was good (there are not many options in this small of a town). Breakfast was oatmeal, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, fruit and vegetables. And pancakes. Very walkable to the Fontana hot springs. Easy access point for the golden circle also.

Die Lage ist schön am See. Das Personal war freundlich und das Frühstück preislich angemessen. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Gemeinschaftsbad. Leider waren die Anzahl zum Duschen und der Toilette sehr gering im Vergleich zur Zimmeranzahl. Bei voller Belegung wäre dies zu wenig.

I’m sure this guesthouse is quite busy in the summer but it was so quiet and nice this winter! The room was bigger than expected and the bathrooms and showers were clean. It was nice having everything to ourselves. We also had a vegan lasagna in the restaurant area and it was delicious. Thanks for a great stay!

Very convenient location if you are visiting sights along the Golden Circle. The staff were friendly, and the check-in process was very smooth. The restaurant was great - our pizza was delicious! Would recommend to anyone traveling along the Golden Circle!

The food was the delicious. Had to wait awhile, but definitely worth the wait. We walked around the school, looked at all of the historical pictures, and loved it. It was great to be apart of that.

This is a unique and interesting place to spend the night. Beautiful location by the lake and walk to Fontana geothermal area. Our room was small, clean and comfortable. Restaurant has delicious pizza. Shoes off at the door, shared bathrooms were not a problem. We would definitely recommend it.

Nice historic place very close to allot of tourist attractions. The hotel is an old school. It looks beautiful and the people working there was very nice. The shared space is very cozy and the room was an OK size. The breakfast could be better but the dinner was good.

The room layout is worse than in a typical college dorm - two beds are together and not separate. Practically no closet space and drawer space. Rooms on top floor are under the roof slant that decreases room volume. But the worst thing is the scarcity of bathrooms - there is only 1 bathroom on the 3rd floor and only 2 bathrooms on the 2nd floor. Completely inadequate for the number of rooms in this guesthouse. The quality of rooms and amenities is only 2 stars (or even 1 star). The only nice thing about this guesthouse was the restaurant (good food and service, very reasonably priced) and the friendliness of staff (even though the front desk closes at 9 p.m.)

Property was clean and staff was helpful. Basic amenities. Soundproofing not so great, the people above us were so loud we did not get good sleep. This is a hostel/guesthouse so some rooms have shared bathrooms, fyi. Make sure you know what room type you booked. It’s walking distance to Laugarvatn Fontana.

Fantastic stay at this lovely old world style guesthouse - breakfast was a highlight as were the common sitting areas. Very bright and clean rooms and an attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Extremely clean. fun quirky common areas and game room downstairs. staff are nice but could not help resolve that the family room we booked did not match photos from expedia. They have 2 family rooms. first person to book gets the one in the photos with the extra lounge area. 2nd person to book gets a plain 6 bed dorm room. Staff said their IT guy needs to fix expedia photos but nothing they could since the other room was already occupied. It was disappointing that we did not get the room we thought we had booked.
