Generally the property is looking old and run down. The pool is a highlight. Bed cheap and hard, room fittings reflecting low budget approach. Room cleaning only by request although quite high standard. Very limited onsite parking. Had been quite a beautiful property back in its day but is clearly in need of a major revamp. Overall reflects apparent standard for price in the area. Not an unpleasant stay, staff friendly and helpful.

Honestly we were appalled, the room was filthy from the floors to the ceiling fan to the bath & sink. The room was not only dirty but very basic. During our second night there was a massive argument between men ! The bed had a permanent roll to the middle and very hard. The property was very run down. Certainly not what the pictures showed. Definitely would not recommend, absolutely not worth the money they charged us. The young girl at reception was lovely the sheets where clean.

Looks nothing like pictures online. Our room was dirty with thick layer of dust on everything. The black mold on the ceilings and in the ac set off our allergies and asthma. No cutlery, plates, bowls etc. “Deluxe” rooms similar to a cheap hostel. Would not recommend.

During my two-night stay, which coincided with my partner's surgery at a nearby hospital, my expectations were modest as I primarily needed a place to rest at night. Upon entering the room, it was apparent that while it was generally acceptable, there was an issue with dust accumulation throughout the space. The bedside table had a noticeable layer of dust, and upon placing my pajamas in the closet upon arrival, I discovered that all my clothing had become covered in dust as well. This lack of cleanliness extended to the bedding, and the bathroom was particularly concerning, with the shower curtain emitting an unpleasant odor. Additionally, the noise levels were disruptive; the room lacked a proper locking mechanism, relying only on a security chain. I experienced frequent disturbances from what seemed to be knocks on the door every few minutes throughout the night, as well as noise from passing guests in the hallway. Parking was also a challenge, as the limited availability meant that upon returning at 10 PM, there were no spaces left.

Very tired property, needs a good refurb. No privacy as blinds didn't even cover the windows, so anyone walking past looks straight into your room. I had to hang towels and jackets up to cover the windows. Cheap accom if you are ok with the above.

The room was fine, probably a good 3 star room in the nineties. My key was bent, so I was almost unable to get into the room. The staff was fine, a bit blunt and not overly stoked to go out of their way to help you.

Check-in and check-out was very simple process. Front desk and all staff were very kind and helpful. Rooms were clean and tidy, all facilities listed were adequately fulfilled. Great location close to many eateries and short drive to CBD and shops. Thanks for making our holidays memorable, kudos to Hotel Tropiq staff!!

First night at 5am we were awoken to a sound and watched for 5 minutes while someone's arm tryied to get our security chain off the door. Lucky we had decided to put it on the night before. The staff were excellent. The place is very tired and needs refurbishment at least.

They have no service at front desk after 4 pm and doesn’t indicate it when we made the reservation. It’s very hard for the visitors from another country if you don’t have telephone service. When we try to move to the other hotel for the reason above, they don’t give us approval and make us pay the two nights we didn’t stay.

Average hotel. Everything was functional, but not especially nice. Except the TV... the sound didn't work. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location wasn't great... clearly the dumpier part of town, about a 20-25 minute walk to the main shops, restaurants and docks. Would probably spend more to stay closer next time.

Having booked for 2 weeks after seeing rating of 3.5 stars on website we were unhappy with a room at about 18 m2 with no power points near bed ( had to run extension lead to operate CPAP machine) ,the smallest TV I have ever seen, dirty shower curtain hardly secured to walls, no cutlery,plates ,toaster or tea towel, no table ,1 chair,had to leave luggage on floor. Manager moved us after 1 night as we were there for 2 weeks and supplied toaster etc. Next room bigger but not much better ceiling fan not working (reported but never repaid) ,shower rose flailing around (reported but not repaired), we stuffed toilet paper around pan collar of w/c (smell), no sink plug, bath door jamming and rust stain on floor, mouldy smell in robe (cleaner sprayed), no mop or broom. 1plastic and 1 lounge chair, no table, no power point near bed (extension lead again, no clean linen etc in 2 weeks. We purchased cereal plates and tea towels. We perhaps should have requested refund and left but as 1st trip to north QLD not sure of alternate accommodation availability. Staff were pleasant and full of promises but no action taken.very old and badly maintained hotel that should have about 1 star rating. Disappointed elderly couple celebrating a significant birthday that may never book over the internet again with Wotif or any other company. And what happened to the restaurant that was supposed to be on site?Very underwhelmed Ray and Suzanne

Tropiq is in such a great location handy to downtown shopping and the esplanade It’s a great budget option, yes older style but well maintained with onsite staff keeping everything in order and now non smoking it is very relaxing There’s a great pool and bbq area and plenty of food delivery options If there’s something you are missing just ask the friendly staff at the front desk Thanks for a great stay
