Friendly staff and the room was clean and the bed comfortable, the breakfast aas delicious and prepared fresh. Only a few things they can improve on- The shower wasn't that powerful, the head didnt really acheive must power or water where it was needed, not adjustable. The bar only offered bottled beer and lacked atmosphere, their missing out on not having the guests relax in the lounge area, a social club a couple of minutes walk was freindly.

We stayed for one night over the august bank holiday ,, absolutely lovely , we stayed in a ground floor room which overlooked the garden/ rear car park . Room was nicely decorated ,tea coffee facilities, clean , airy, with a small en suite but very comfortable and adequate,, breakfast was very good , made to order and piping hot , staff very friendly and helpful . Would definitely recommend this hotel , and will definitely return.. ohhh and bonus - free onsite parking !!

The stay was good. The hotel was good value for money and was very clean. Staff were helpful and professional. The location is great - walkable to Windermere and Bowness. The parking was mostly ok - there is more parking at the back of the property, however at one point the manager had blocked the entrance to the car park with their own vehicle which meant it was not accessible to guests. This was poor form in our opinion - the receptionist hesitantly advised it was the managers vehicle when we made them aware there was a car blocking the car park and that we’d parked a few streets away - and nervously offered to ask them to move it - but knowing how limited the parking is, the manager shouldn’t have blocked the access. A couple of other points for improvement: the 4-poster bed whilst a nice idea wasn’t very practical as the view of the TV from the bed was blocked by one of the posts. Water was also not replenished each day, we were only given one small bottle each in the room when we arrived. The decor in places was tired - the hotel could do with a refresh, but overall this was good value for money and we would stay here again.

Room 17 massive bed but mattress need to be replaced delves in the middle and both end up in the middle of the bed.plus room 17 is right under the dining room so from 07.00 its like marching men all morning.but this is only room 17.one other thing we got told bar was open until 10.30 but the shutters came down at 21.50 with not even a do you want another drink

Enjoyed a one night stay at this hotel, ideally located between Windermere and Bowness. Ideally they could do with going round with a feather duster (if they’re still legal) to get rid of the cobwebs in the passageways and ceilings. Breakfast was lovely, a perfectly fried egg, beautifully cooked bacon and local Cumberland sausage. The only other minor point would be our room was underneath another and you could hear the creaking in the ceiling when they were walking around. Other than that. Would stay here again.

Upon our arrival at 3:50 p.m. we found no one available at reception for over five minutes. Eventually, a very pleasant lady appeared and, after unsuccessfully attempting to reach someone by phone, kindly assisted us with check-in herself. While she was very accommodating, the situation made for an unusual and somewhat disorganized first impression. Overall, our stay was pleasant and we enjoyed walking to both villages. However, in the morning we were very concerned to discover peeling wallpaper and extensive black mold throughout the accommodation. This is not a minor issue of preference or comfort; it presents a serious health risk and should be addressed as soon as possible. Breakfast was very nice. When the time came to leave, we planned on speaking to someone at the front desk about the situation but again, could not find anyone to speak to. After leaving we contacted the hotel manager via email about the situation and got no response.

Our stay was brief and pretty decent overall. Staff were nice and the breakfast was good. Not as much green space as the photos show (small patio areas near the parking lot). Location was excellent, between Windermere and Bowness. However, the walls are quite thin (we could hear the person in the room next to us using the washroom). And more problematic, there was a lot of black mold in the bathroom. This could be a health concern for people with breathing conditions or other sensitivites. I know it's a damp region, but I do hope the property managers properly address the issue (not just paint over it). Otherwise the room and common areas were clean (perhaps a little worn, but I prefer to think of that as old English charm lol). Not a bad place to stay for a short while given the price.

Ideal location, from customer service to breakfast and the facilities, everything was spot on. The only thing that making me rate low is the quality of mattress in our room. The mattress was worn out, like a mountain it was flat from both sides (where it gets used obviously) and fat from the middle. I had a back and neck ache and struggled to sleep. Also i could feel a spring popping out at one place. Apart from this issue, rest spot on

Really enjoyed our stay. Location was great in between Windermere and Bowness, easy walk to both. Lovely breakfast and charming room. Very quaint. About 15 rooms, they are not huge rooms and have a small bathroom. Only weird thing was the hotels direction on map led us to a completely different place so we arrived at the wrong accommodation at first. Would recommend Woodlands, we liked it a lot.

Couldn't fault the staff , breakfast and the room decor, comfy bed and the right temperature. Unfortunately Room 3 was just too noisy. The floors from upstairs creaked so loud and you could here snoring from the room next door. Any use of plumbing from other guests was also an issue. Its a shame because it was in a perfect position for both the lake and the town.

I only have one gripe about my stay, our room was great, roomy and comfortable but was situated under the dinning area so we were rudely awakened at 7am with the sounds of footsteps, chairs scraping and talking from above and there was never anyone on reception to complain to, breakfast was great but beware of room 17

Good: We stayed in the 4 poster bedroom, number 7. It was clean and attractively decorated. The breakfasts were excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. No problems parking in the grounds. Windermere centre was a 10 minute walk up the road, Bowness 20 minutes or so walk to the lake frontage. The bus stop for the 599 route to either way was 2 minutes walk down the road. Beyond Windermere village it ran to Grassmere via Ambleside. Journeys capped at £2 or free with a bus pass. Could be better: The wi-fi connection in our room was poor and kept dropping out. The water was hot in the mornings but lukewarm late evenings, which in particular affected the shower. This may just have been local to that room. Just us: we noticed the traffic noise on the busy road, not as quiet as where we live.

I also appreciated that the hotel has a free car park for guests, and it was nice and quiet and conveniently located to bus stops or comfortable walks to Windermere and even Bowness. They also provided some toiletry amenities, but an odd mix: two shampoos but no conditioner, no hand soap, etc. Overall it was a good value and the room would have been fine save for temperature issue.

Eventually, a very pleasant lady appeared and, after unsuccessfully attempting to reach someone by phone, kindly assisted us with check-in herself. While she was very accommodating, the situation made for an unusual and somewhat disorganized first impression. Overall, our stay was pleasant and we enjoyed walking to both villages. Excellent value for money. Staff warm and welcoming. Breakfast was to a very high standard and freshly prepared. Convenient location. Hard to fault as there was a real sense of generosity. Would definitely recommend. As a Coeliac I found the staff well aware of the condition and I felt safe eating the breakfasts, which added greatly to the quality of the stay.

We arrived slightly early for our check in , However it didn't seem to be an issue. The lady on reception was chatty and pleasant. The guest house is clean and tidy and the rooms were nice. There's loads of tea and coffee in the room. They even have their own bar near reception. The breakfast is outstanding with plenty of choice, however the full breakfast is a must.

From check in until departure each member of staff was very pleasant and helpful. Room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast on both mornings was lovely. Good selection of cereals etc. and cooked breakfast was lovely and hot. Waiting staff excellent

2 night stay. No hot water for my shower on the second morning. My wife got dressed in a hurry to inform them of the issue and was first told off for not putting shoes on and was then told they were far too busy serving breakfast to do anything about it. I got dressed and we went to breakfast where i asked about the water. Was told several times they were too busy serving breakfast. A louder complaint resulted in someone going to check that the hot water wasn’t actually working. We were eventually told that a plumber would arrive at noon. Two hours after we were going to check out. Also there were no other showers available. Chef/manager came to our room after breakfast while we were packing up to check that the hot water wasn’t actually working. He apologised for the lack of water and said we could stay in the room until it was fixed. He also then offered the use of a shower in an uncleaned recently vacated room but we were fully packed by then and just wanted to get out. Unfortunately we had prepaid so there was no chance of disputing the bill. No mention of a partial refund either. A most important unpleasant experience. Do not pre pay at this establishment! Room was nice otherwise.

The guest house was really convenient for walking to both Windermere and Bowness. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were brilliant and friendly. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. There was even a car park. We thought it provided excellent value and we would definitely stay again.

Woodlands was excellent location walking distance to Windermere & Bowness, Staff were friendly and helpful.The breakfast was great having a lot of options and different times you could have breafast which we found very good. If your not driverWoodlands has a bus stop very close & good transport service that take you to all the beautiful nearby towns. We both enjoyed our stay & would recommend to family & friends.

We’ve stayed in a fair few B&Bs now and always compare and contrast. Plus points here was the comfort of the room, higher end toiletries and regularly replenished biscuits. The breakfast also was tasty and a good variety of choice. Gluten free accommodated. The location is also convenient for the station and Bowness, with parking plentiful. The downsides for me was the shower was quite small and weak, and sadly the place felt slightly impersonal as there was no obvious owner to meet at reception, and breakfast is staffed by several different people. Sadly on one day we waited half an hour for our breakfast to arrive. Decent place for the price though

Room was clean but had a few issues. Shower door didnt close, heating thermostate broke so room got to hot . Breakfast was good however it felt rushed . Reception is never maned .

Really lovely place, the photos don’t do it justice. It’s a great location for us 20 minutes walk from the lake and restaurants and 10 minute walk the opposite direction to Windermere town. The room was lovely and breakfast is recommended especially the pancakes.

The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was excellent. My only small niggle was the creaky floorboards from the room above I think we were just unfortunate that the guests were heavy footed and liked to get their 10000 steps in at 6am in the morning!! Overall an excellent hotel for the money with the added bonus of onsite parking.
