Northwinds Hotel Canmore

Hotel does not have an elevator. Pack light since you may have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs.

Only complaint was a lack of an elevator for our second floor room! That should have been warned…hauling heavy luggage up the stairs was challenging!

There is no elevator in the building kids with stroller or taking your luggage upstairs wasn’t fun

Very clean everywhere …updated… Curb appeal is ok. Fridge, microwave and coffee machine. But… not cable charging friendly. Need outlet adapters. Overpriced so look around. NO AMENITIES.

No pool or hot tub, but recent Reno’s and the place is very nice, staff were friendly and helpful. Even came to room to help with TV.

Self check in online was nice and easy. Room was clean, non-carpeted. I had a pet friendly room on the main floor and there was a shared mini backyard. It was so convenient for my dog to go potty in the middle of the night. Close to shops. It was a pleasant stay.

Parking was great. Very modern rooms, service was excellent.

The room was spacious and the bed comfy. The location was close to businesses and was just along the main road. One drawback is the absence of an elevator since we were dragging our suitcases through the stairs.

very nice place. But for $470.00 per night i would expect way more. No pool, or free breakfast. Staff was good, and it was a good place to stay.

We had a great experience from the moment we entered. Front desk staff smiled at us every time we went in or out. Room was large and clean comfortable. It was close to multiple restaurants. I’d definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay for a couple of nights, but you have to ask for cleaning, taking out garbage, adding coffee for the next day etc. Also, when we just checked in, there were quite a few black hairs in beds and a bathtub. Other than that, a fine place just to sleep while in Canmore.

Amazing view of the mountains coupled with proximity to Banff makes this an ideal location to stay.

Check in was done swiftly online. We showed up and went straight to our room. Room is spacious and clean. Bathroom is clean and decently roomy with lots of counter space. Beds were comfy (which is rare for me). Water pressure was good, plenty of hot water. The outlets weren't all working properly so we had trouble charging our phones next to the bed side. Outside each window is a security light and it prevents the room from getting completely dark at night. Lastly, the HVAC is loud when it kicks on. It kept waking up my spouse.

I really wanted to love this hotel - they allow pets for free, it’s in a great location, and the rooms are clean and modern. My issue is with the insulation in the building. The walls, floors, and ceilings are paper thin. You can hear every footstep and every spoken word, regardless of if they’re on the same floor as you or not. Good lucking falling asleep or sleeping in. It’s nearly impossible.

Heating system was quite noisy. View was nice. Parking was convenient; seemed very safe. Friendly and helpful staff.

Room was clean and modern. Very noisy, could hear anyone walking down the hall or in the room above us. Bed was really hard. Has beautiful mountain views. Easy check in and check out.

The Northwinds Hotel in Canmore is fantastic. The rooms are large, have incredible mountain views, very well appointed, clean and comfortable. AC is quiet and works well. Front desk staff is delightful and very accommodating. The hotel is well situated, easy to get to hikes or downtown. You don't want to leave this place! 5 stars plus.

It was a great spot in Canmore. Clean, friendly, and convenient. The only part, and an important piece, is the bed was so soft. You almost sink into the bed and there is zero support.

Our stay at Northwinds Hotel Canmore was absolutely wonderful! The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained — offering the perfect blend of comfort and mountain charm. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect during our stay and truly made us feel welcome. Her kindness and attention to detail set this hotel apart.

Overall, a great experience! I really like their online check-in system; it’s smart, easy, and quick. This must be integrated across all hotels. The place is clean inside and out. Highly recommended!

I recently stayed at this hotel during my visit to Alberta to explore Canmore and Banff. Pros: It was clean and you can do virtual check in and check out. It was also close to the highway which was convenient and near downtown Canmore. As well came with a parking spot which was useful as we had a rental car Cons: They mention how there is no housekeeping during your stay unless you request it. We did NOT request housekeeping, however to our surprise we came back one day to see that our room was cleaned. My friend who prefers to use her own towel got it accidentally taken by the cleaning staff as she thought it would be ok to leave it hanging in the bathroom since we didn’t request cleaning. Also on the first morning of our stay, someone tried to enter our room. When we brought it up to the front desk worker they advised us it was one of the staff members who tried to enter by accident. (We were worried another guest was able to enter our room using their key code). They did apologize for the inconvenience however I’m not sure why a worker would need to enter our room at 6:30am in the morning…so that was odd and a bit scary. I did see another review have a similar situation happen to them where a worker tried to entered their room by accident…so this doesn’t seem to be a one time thing. It was a nice hotel, however given the circumstances I don’t think I would stay here again the next time I’m in the area.

Trying to get a hold of the front desk prior to my stay was difficult. I would call and there would be no answer, they would call me, I would answer and the line would immediately end. Was very difficult to talk to anyone prior to my stay regarding confirming my reservation and payment. Seems like rooms also need to be double checked for defects as the room I stayed in had a flickering light in the bathroom, likely just needs to replace the bulb. Otherwise, I had a great stay! The room was very nice and in close proximity to many different shops and restaurants. I would absolutely stay there again, but front desk needs to be more on top of the phones and housekeeping or hotel staff should check rooms more thoroughly between guests, would hate for someone with epilepsy to have to deal with a constant flickering light while using the washroom!

Yes. Ruth and the other male front desk staff were both helpful in providing information with places to visit and dine. Excellent and very professional people.

Upside: Hotel location and price was convenient for my family. Downside: We arrived almost 3hrs earlier than 4pm and even though the room was ready and available, the staff at the front desk wanted to charge us $20 per hour for an early checking in which was pretty ridiculous as I have never heard of that before. My family comprising of a 5 month old infant and a toddler had to wait out the time and rainy weather condition before checking in.

It was a great pace to stay. Easy walking distance to Canmore town center. Also convenient to get to Banff. We enjoyed our stay.

Close to roam transit and shopping in Canmore.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staffs were friendly and kind. They gave me some advices. Great location!! Easy to access to the bus stop of route3 & route12. Moreover, it's not so far to walk from downtown. Reasonable price!! I could save a lot compared to Banff. Not only the price but also I really like the atmosphere of the town. I prefer canmore for staying.

Great location to explore the Rockies. Canmore is a very charming town that is just as pretty as Banff, but not as crazy busy. Plenty of fast food options and restaurants close to the hotel.

Couldn't see the mountains from our room. Fence and residential behind. Close to everything and plenty of parking.

This is our second time to stay in this hotel and it won't be our last. Clean rooms. Quiet place. Very walkable to town center. Convenient location. Lots of parking spots.

View of the Three Sisters and other mountain ranges were lovely. Location was perfect for commuting to Banff and Kananaskis, as well as walking to the downtown galleries and shops. Would stay here again.

The property was good for what we needed but no hot tub and I could tell the carpet in the room had not been vacuumed. Other than that, what staff we spoke to were friendly and the location is good. The hotel restaurant’s breakfast was amazing.

Rooms were clean and very comfortable beds. Nice have Bankhead restaurant next door. Misty, on the front desk was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. A real asset to the Northwind team.

Great overnight stay. Room was spotless, comfortable king bed, fast and easy check in for a very good price. The surprise was actually the on site restaurant. Open for breakfast,lunch and dinner with spectacular food. Their oxtail soup was one of the best I ever had and the kitchen staff was happy to do one for me even at breakfast 👍

Strengths: super friendly staff, very helpful with tourists. Rooms are very clean. The bathroom has enough counter space. Excellent location, close to public transportation. Beautiful mountain views Improvement opportunities: no breakfast option available. The most convenient solution is an adjacent (pricey) restaurant that does not belong to the hotel. Also, it would be great to have an elevator available for the few upstairs rooms.

Vue sur les montagnes extrêmement appréciée. Le confort de la chambre etait vraiment agréable. Il manquait simplement de rangement et de porte manteau!! Très mauvaise expérience au restaurant accolé le Bankhead. Mon mari a été malade après y avoir mangé et le restaurant n’a rien voulu faire pour cela! Extrêmement déçu! Jamais nous ne remettons les pieds dans ce restaurant.

Went to Canmore for a wedding for the weekend. This place was perfect for that purpose - well-priced, clean, updated room and convenient location. We had breakfast at the Bankhead Restaurant and it was excellent. There aren't a ton of amenities in the hotel but it was fine because we were busy with the wedding anyways. The check-in was seamless - we didn't have to interact with staff because everything was done mobile but the times we did, they were very friendly and pleasant.

Il est dommage que le petit déjeuner ne soit pas compris avec le prix de la chambre. Excellent petit déjeuner dans le restaurant juste à côté. Très belle vue sur les montagnes.
