This property was absolutely perfect for our reqirements. Only a couple things that could have been better but werent in anyway the hotels fault - the lift was out if order and there was paint work being done, this made things slightly difficult with a toddler. Also the staff were amazing! We managed to leave behind a beloved teddy, and the staff are willing to hold onto it until we can get back there from our trip. Wonderful stay

Well appointed large room (Executive King for 2 adults and child). Good value breakfast, hot and cold food & drink availabe. Plenty of car park spaces both at the rear of the hotel and overspill nearby. Overall, worth a visit and I would recommend.

We booked an accessible room but unlike our previous stay there this had no walk in shower. Repeated fire alarms on the Monday evening didn’t improve. On Monday evening my partner unfortunately fell and I was unable to help her up so I pressed the assistance button . Reception phoned but was only interested in telling me how to switch it off and didn’t ask what the problem was, then said she would send a colleague. The colleague then arrived and proceeded to show me how to switch it off and was about to leave when I pointed out my partner on the floor. “Oh , I will get a colleague “. Then a man ,who I assume was the duty manager “ arrived and we were able to get her up. The lift was then out of order for two days so I don’t need to elaborate on the problem of being disabled on the first floor. I must at this point praise staff who helped me get her down the stairs but would suggest you get a different contractor to maintain your lift. So all this did nothing to enhance our visit, the reason for which was the funeral of my partners 99 year old father

Great spot for our Dumfries overnight - the restaurant on site was good and the staff were all very friendly. Lots of free parking available and in a nice area to take a walk after dinner.

The room was showing a couple signs of wear but spacious and the bed was comfy and clean, bathroom was well equipped (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel) and spotless. Plenty of water pressure in the shower for my wife to wash her hair. Breakfast was plentiful and lots of choices. Communal spaces could do with a new carpet or lick of paint but still good, just not excellent. Parking spaces were full but asked at reception and you can park anywhere on the estate without issue so actually, a lot of parking. Neighbouring cathedral is very pretty and worth a walk around to view.

Lift not working. Rooms hot, no air conditioning. A small fan was in the cupboard but I was not aware of it until the morning. Bad night's sleep. Difficulty getting room key cards to work. Problem with billing. I had prepaid 2 rooms but had to pay for one room in check in as it was claimed only one room was paid for. How can this be when 2 rooms were reserved? Was told this morning that it has been fixed. I hope so, I will check my bank statement later. Shame, we have stayed here before and enjoyed it.

I booking executive suit for 2 adults 1 kid as executive suit had seperate bed. But 2nd bed was sofa bed with slim mattress. It was not comfortable to sleep as matress was very thin and hardly protecting back from hurting due to bed's rods.

The old part of the building is really imposing in its red brick and traditional appearance. The modern hotel part is nothing special to look at. However the rooms were comfortable and cosy and i slept really well. Little dated round the edges but all in a nice place

Very nice place. Bit out of town, slightly too far to walk. Rooms are modern, old part of the Hotel is meeting rooms and bar area. Only issue was the Aircon, which set at low setting didn't really make any difference to the temp. Might have been bust I suppose. Shower fab though and breakfast was excellent.

Room was more than incredibly hot .. 2 x air conditioning units in room as staff knew there was a problem but they still put us in that room .. only after threatening to sleep in reception did they agree to move us .. not a good emptession & definitely not expected … !

Hotel on the whole was nice but the air-conditioning unit was so noisy I had to shut it down. The staff all did their job, but there wasn’t a very welcoming feel and there appear to be an issue between the staff and managerin the restaurant.

The front desk woman was enormously helpful getting our cab situation sorted out and with recommendations for our short stay. The restaurant really exceeded expectations. Every person we encountered gave amazing service and made us feel so special and cared for. Thank you!

No batteries in tv remote and staff refused to supply any. Heating in room not working. On the second night staying a random person was given a key to my room and walked while I was in bed. Awful hotel.

Lovely stay, the perfect accommodation for a wedding at The Crichton. A short taxi into Dumfries town centre, or could also walk it along footpaths.

Set on beautiful green grounds, the Holiday Inn Dumfries is a must stay in Dumfries. Sadly we only had one night. Close to town, you could just hang out at the hotel itself and be content. Breakfast was plentiful and worth adding to the booking. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Bar and restaurant on site, but its the beautiful grounds that had me, with the old Crichton Memorial Church to walk around, the beautiful Crichton gardens to wander through. Close to Robert Burns house. Highly recommended.

Great staff who make you feel very welcome. Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. As it’s a bit out of the way, dining options are limited unless you want to drive or eat in the hotel.

Great spot, 15 minute walk from the town but pleasant enough. Rooms are a great size, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were fantastic. I'd definitely stay again if I was going to Dumfries.

It is set in beautiful gardens within the university which you can walk around and enjoy. Convenient location for touring the area. Room was big, spacious and clean. Breakfast was really good, there was plenty to choose from.

Birthday getaway. Plenty of free parking. Surtounded by nice historic buildings and park land. (Ex psychiatric hospital wards) but actual hotel is a new build. Food was fine and room was clean, warm and quiet. Dog friendly although we didn't have one.

Hotel was spotless and the rooms were warm. Brilliant setting and very quiet. I'm just glad we didn't book a table for dinner as people were waiting for ages and giving up and going else where. Would recommend the hotel.

Fantastic property! Interesting history of The Crichton, beautiful botanical garden on the grounds, as well as an interesting cathedral. The breakfasts were top-notch, the garden view room was well appointed and taken care of. Thank you.

Fantastic stay. Excellent room and breakfast is superb. Hotel also in a beautiful location. Clean, quiet, safe with friendly, polite staff. What more could anyone want? A lovely hotel which I highly recommend!

Enjoyed the grounds, easy parking, beautiful walking areas. The room was clean, however, the building is showing its age and could use some upkeep. The bed was not comfortable for us, but that is subjective to individual preference. Every day, we had to go get our room key reprogrammed - slight annoyance but no big deal. The restaurant was ok. Food was delicious but service really lacked; understaffed in the afternoon and evening. The waitress was a sweetheart, and very sincerely apologized. Overall we would recommend the hotel for ease of travel and a beautiful location.

A fridge would have been nice. Restaurant food in the evening OK although breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of both hot and cold items. Good coffee. Friendly, obliging staff both front of house and in the restaurant.

The front desk woman was enormously helpful getting our cab situation sorted out and with recommendations for our short stay. The restaurant really exceeded expectations. Every person we encountered gave amazing service and made us feel so special and cared for. Thank you!

Rooms looking a bit tired and walls paper thin. The rooms were spacious but could do with an upgrade. We also planned to have dinner but were told there was an issue with the gas and only a hot buffet was available. With little choice, we accepted. However, the buffet was borderline inedible with frozen pizza, dry chicken and lukewarm chips. The buffet breakfast was also seriously lacking. I travel a lot for work and stay in a variety of hotels. I'm afraid this - despite the magnificent location - wasn't the best.
