Amazing stay. Great location. Super friendly and helpful staff. Superb breakfast. Brilliant patio. And quite tasty brews. What's not to love!

As with other reviews parking is bad.

Loved the cosy feel of the room. Lovely restaurant/bar area. Food very good. Staff service really good. Only issue was the parking absolutely no parking at all. Although staff really helpful with finding a car park because of rain the walk was a little far. Was a shame as only slight negative.

Really nice place. Room was very comfortable, not flash, but perfect for our needs with a good en-suite. Breakfast was great and the bar and outside courtyard area were very pleasant to have a drink and spend time. Would recommend.

Pub is very smart with a nice touch being fresh dalias on the tables. Only negative is that parking could be a problem as it is on street and quite busy. Excellent brewery with lovely bedrooms super outdoor eating and drinking as well as a cosy bar and snug. Grand breakfast and dinner and not far to walk to the centre of Bury St Edmunds. Narrow streets so no parking outside but several car parks nearby.

Characterful place. Very friendly and helpful staff. It's a pub/restaurant/mini brewery with rooms. Good cooked breakfasts. Only problem is you can't usually park close by but there's a cheap long-stay car park about 10 mins walk away, same for the town centre.

Great staff lovely breakfast but noisy until the pub closes but really quiet after that until staff arrive at 7ish to start breakfast.Location is good only a very short walk to town centre.Parking can be a real issue no blue badge spaces nearby on street parking but very busy when we were there & had to park a few streets away.On street parking is limited to 1-2 hours between 10am-6pm Mon-Sat so a bit of an issue for us.As my husband is disabled staff did offer for us to open the courtyard gates ourselves & park in there if we were struggling but we didn't want to wake up other guests when we returned from a local wedding as they are heavy & noisy & right under the guest rooms.

Staff were very friendly - at all times of the day. Room was clean and a good size. The breakfast was amazing so there was no need to eat lunch. Shame there was no parking but long stay car park was only a 10 minute walk. Would highly recommend.

The bottle bins being emptied outside our window at 5:30 in the morning was NOT what we would call a relaxing wake-up alarm. Also - what pub closes at 7pm? Nightmarish. We had nowhere to hang out, and we chose the place because we thought we would be able to spend time with friends at the bar. There was a iron burn in the (frankly) nasty, threadbare carpet in our room. Urgh. Take slippers if you're going to stay. Also - breakfast was promised to us early the morning we left but staff didn't communicate to each other so we went hungry. Would not recommend. Very disappointing.

Room was a good size & well appointed. Bar / resturant area was busy with good selection of drinks as yiu would expect with a micro brewery. Slightly tired decor, paintwork & wood floor could do with a refresh, but having said that we enjoyed our stay abd would book again.

Large, nicely decorated room. Amazing, comfortable king size bed. Modern bathroom with walk in shower. First class cleanliness Friendly staff. Would certainly stay again.

Clean well maintained rooms, pub nice and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent and good choice, both continental and cooked. Nice plateful and sets you up for the day. Only niggle is parking but warned of this when booking. The pub has a good range of self brewed beers at a good price, also does a reasonable selection of evening meals, again a good plateful and reasonably priced.

What a great place. I was staying mid-week so I can't speak to the weekends, but my room was so quiet despite it being a pub hotel. Everything was clean and well kept, and I had a great night's sleep. Special mention to the breakfast which was exceptional. You order the night before and then it is served freshly made at your time of choosing. I had probably the best Eggs Benedict in my life!

Needed a place to stay overnight with my mum after attending a works Christmas dinner at the Angel Hotel. Found the Old Cannon Brewery, which was within easy walking distance to town and had free on-road parking right outside. Certainly didn't expect to be staying in such a charming well run place, with its own brewed real ales and a great breakfast. Room was spotless, comfortable and came with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Was so impressed I've bought a voucher for a future stay as a Christmas present for my boyfriend. Am already looking forward to staying again!

Lovely interesting pub , friendly staff , good food, comfortable clean room

Based in a working micro brewery a very different place. Friendly and welcoming and no sticky tables! We stayed there on a hot day and the bedroom was extremely hot at night. Tap was loose in the sink.

The hotel room was comfortable but the continuous noise outside our window kept us awake. The room didn't have a/c and the hot weather meant we had to have the windows open and the cellar cooling fan was on all the time.

Adequate room, comfy ved and lovely hot shower. Upstairs were very heavy footed so heard them banging around!

Clean well equipped room, nice bed, nice shower, good food and drink, friendly staff. As good as a hotel.

One night stay: breakfast included. Had a very tasty meal in the pub below. The room was very nice with a comfy bed, albeit the access was via fairly steep outside stairs. The room was a little noisy until closing time as a beer event was on, however once 'closing time' arrived, all noice ceased and we slept very well. We enjoyed our short stay.

Parking and WiFi not available, but the staff were excellent and the meals top notch.

A nice place, although access to room was odd as you had to go outside and up what seemed like a fire escape stairs. Weather was awful, so we got wet. Not sure why we couldn’t access rooms through the pub as our room was clearly above the pub . Very comfortable bed, good shower. Great breakfast , shame only one member of staff on duty for all guests. No seating room inside pub to have a drink but covered garden was lovely with heaters and blankets, very warm and cozy. Staff on arrival were indifferent and no staff around as we left.

Everybody at the Old Cannon Brewery were amazingly friendly and welcoming but the rooms were awful. There is no sound insulation between the rooms so the sound, from the room next door, of coughing, spitting, flushing the toilet, opening and closing the shower doors, switching the bathroom light on and off and the extractor fan, we could hear it all. During the night the heating switches off, and with no double glazing, it leaves the room icy cold. With a very heavy duvet, one is left alternatively sweating or freezing. Unfortunately when disappointment is the main emotion when staying in a hotel, it's human nature to notice other problems. Like the door from the bar to the outside, continually slamming shut. Obviously not a problem during the day or early evening, but if you're not a nightbird with an early start, the banging becomes an interminable annoyance. A major inconvenience is parking, with none available at the property and no permits made available by the property for the streets outside. I'm afraid being told there's a car park 10 minutes walk away is not what you want to hear after a 3 hour drive to get there! I was born in Bury and hate to criticise anything about it, but we'll never stay at the Old Cannon Brewery again!

Upon arrival at 7.40pm after a 4 hour drive I asked about booking a table to eat. I was told that they would stop serving at 8pm, so I said that I would just drop my bags and come straight over. I did so, rather than shower etc. I asked where I could sit & was told by the girl that the chef had turned off the fryers and I could have a mac n cheese. I was astonished that they would stop serving so early and pointed out that it was only 7.50. The girl apologised, but I was not happy. It seemed that the chef just wanted an early finish and did not care for a potential customer. To close early to a resident is unheard of in my experience. Its not as if I was just a walk in, but a booked guest I left and went elsewhere to eat. I was still angry and visited their website, it stated that dinner was served until 8.30pm This further added to my feeling that the chef was not interested in serving customers. At breakfast, the same girl again apologised. I felt sorry for her as she was trying to salvage some good will. She agreed with me that my experience was appalling and said that she had spoken to the general manager. I have received no communication from this manager, which leads me to believe that he or she similar in their level of customer service. They need to a) Ensure that the website gives correct information, b) Respond to customer issues in a timely manner & c) Run the place, rather than let the chef do so

From check in, to check out the service was superb. The room was what i had requested, the bar/restaurant was a delight and the food delicious. Love this place, charming and quaint all in one.

A good property. About 7 minute walk from the railway station and the same distance to market area. I would stay there again.

The location of the hotel was really good, around a ten minute walk to a big (and cheap) car park, as well as the town centre. Room was comfortable, breakfast was great.

This is a great place to stay. Very handy for the town centre and Apex theatre. It’s very well presented, clean and very friendly. We will definitely return.

It was so central to everything I wanted to do and the staff were so accommodating for my needs

A lovely place to stay. Lots of character with a lovely food menu. checking in was good with friendly staff. The room was big with everything you need. very comfortable bed. It was a warm night but a nice fan if a bit loud was supplied. Next morning went down for breakfast, this unfortunately was not great. We were told that there was a bit of a wait for the cooked breakfast so we helped ourselves to some cereal and juice. which was nice. The rest of the breakfast turned up at least 30 mins later which looked ok but was a cold so a bit of a shame.. Overall i liked it there and would recommend it ... just get down to breakfast at 8am sharp if you want a hot breakfast

I had a 1 night stay here, the property is in a quiet residential area but a short walk to the town centre. I was able to park outside okay but this may be an issue during busy times. My room was okay, although I was unable to get the radiator to work. And I could hear people in other rooms a little, especially in rooms above as the floorboards made a bit of noise when people were waking around. I ate in the bar in the evening, the food was very good but there was a bit of a wait for the food to come after ordering, not just for me but for other customers too. There was a Thai Takeover event going on which maybe had an impact on people ordering from the normal menu as it was quite busy. For example, I had to wait 25 minutes for my dessert. Beer is brewed on the premises, and I tried some of the beers on offer which were good. The breakfast was good in the morning too, with cereals etc and hot food cooked to order. The accommodation is of a fairly high standard in my opinion, with prices to match though. Although my stay was pretty good overall I'm not sure if I would stay here again, but that is just my personal preference.

Staff were friendly, nice atmosphere in the bar. The curtains in the room we stayed in let a lot of light in, they really need blackout linings. The Eggs benedict my wife had for breakfast was not nice, eggs were overcooked and the bacon was not great.

Arrived late as had an event after work. Service on arrival superb. Parking a nightmare around there as none at the hotel. Lovely large room with great facilities including coffee machine. My only feedback would be to have a dressing table area with mirror so be able to do your hair and makeup. Mattress was a little too hard for me but still managed to sleep ok. I do think 8am as the earliest you can get breakfast is too late for weekdays, so it was a rush trying to get something to eat before heading off at 8:30 when the food didn’t arrive until just after 8:15. Delicious breakfast though

Food and staff absolutely excellent. Bed was rather soft but everything super clean.

I would have liked more choice in the continental breakfast as I do not eat a cooked breakfast.
