Maldron Hotel Derry

Parking is very limited, make sure you arrive a bit early.

Wonderful hotel with wonderful and accommodating Staff, centrally located and close to amenities. The only thing I would improve on is the quality of the Gym at the hotel which needs some TLC

Friendly, welcoming, and accommodating staff. The lobby, bar, restaurant area was very nice and welcoming as soon as you walk in the door of the hotel. My room was clean and spacious and had all the amenities I needed. Very convenient for walking and seeing the town. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

The hotel was in the center of town…convenient, but the parking was harrowing😳. Room was average, but clean and comfortable.

Great location beside the city walls. Underground parking worked well, if a bit tight for taller vehicles. Staff very accommodating. Modern hotel with a lift from the garage to the rooms made moving our goods in easy. On-site restaurant quite good.

Hotel was in the process of a large refurbishment. the Gym was closed but not updated on the website. Parking was difficult to find due to roadworks and barriers. Had to switch rooms as strong smell of either paint of flooring adhesive.

Had a great stay. Staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Bar was wonderful. Definitely recommend staying.

The hotel is in a great location and the lobby was comfortable and very clean. Lyric, the bar attached to it was a great place to hang also. The downside was the rooms. They were very hot even after turning the heat off at the end of October. The toilets did not always flush. There were hairs of different size in the tub and our whole family, 6 of us aged 23-58, slipped on the bathroom floor getting out of the tub after showering. One of us fell hard and thankfully did not get hurt. This was in the morning. One more thing, the pillows were either very hard or too thin.

Maldron needs updating. Carpet in room stained.

Recently refurbished so condition very good. Excellent cleanliness although bathroom shower was in bathtub, so access difficult for older travellers. Front desk & breakfast staff were outstanding friendly & helpful

Reception staff and bar staff were friendly and helpful but room was not clean. It was clear that the room as only hoovered to the end of the bed and there were toenail clippings on the floor- disgusting. Phone was not answered when I called, reception was very busy

Ryan checked us in and helped us on many occasion. He was fantastic and very helpful. We had a good meal in the restaurant. Personally one of the best Caesar dressing I have ever had. The staff in the bar were lovely. We asked for a later check out because my mom wasn’t feeling well and they accommodated us no problem. The rooms need some TLC and the carpets in the hallway need a really good clean. Our bathroom was not that clean. Perhaps the showers and sink were clean but the floor and surrounding areas was in dire need of a really good deep clean. Compared to other Maldron we stayed at, this was by far not that clean and tidy. Hate to tell you this but it’s true. The staff were very nice and the breakfast was fantastic. Cleanliness is important on my list so I’m not sure if I would stay in this hotel again.

The place doesn't have a parking and have to pay for parking, the hotel floors were having a weird smell and it was very hot in the room.

We enjoyed our stay at the Maldron in Derry. The hotel is within the old city walls and it is easy to walk anywhere from there. The room was a bit warm (it was an unusually hot June) but we were able to get a fan.

Our room had a column in the middle it that was very awkward and there was someone playing the drums and singing past 10 pm outside our window. But the mattress was great!

It did have some underground parking, but was really tight. The building is under renovation so surrounded by scaffolding. But there were several nice cafes and fun pibs close by and walking the town wall was nice. The room was hot (an unusual heatwave an no AC) which made sleeping difficult despite being quiet.

Staff was pleasant and helpful but property (rugs, etc) were stained and appeared dirty. Actual room was small and sparse - very barebones. Towels were stiff and scratchy, pillows are very uncomfortable and stiff, as well. Bathrooms are tiny and only offer a shampoo/conditioner combo and scented body wash. No facecloths. No hairdryer. Hallways were dark and room lighting had very bright fluorescent overhead lights.

An enjoyable stay in Derry with a hotel that is very central to anything you would like to do in the city. My downside to the hotel was I thought it was a bit expensive for the hotel. We had our room booked with breakfast and the breakfast was an open buffet style. This was decent enough in fairness although staff could be a little slow in greeting you/clearing tables after use. The room we had was a good size. The pillows were a tad hard to sleep on and the bathroom felt a bit old.

I booked the Maldron Derry as I had stayed in the new Maldron hotel in Liverpool and it was a fabulous stay. Unfortunatloey not the same experience in Derry. Bland, unexciting decor. Rooms are a fair enough size but the pale grey walls, grey curtains and overall dreary decor was not at all appealing. Same grey walls in the corridors which did not match the wood on the doors and etc, it looked really mis matched. Room noisy as there was a function on and the DJ music was booming through our room, although finished at 11pm we had hoped for an early night but that wasnt possible. Room was too warm, not a great night sleep at all. Breakfast was a better experience, food was hot and there was a good variety to choose from, the quality was good, I asked for poached eggs but they were more like a steamed fried egg but more than edible. Sorry but wouldnt book again unfortunately.

Wonderful. Great location. Spacious (though basic decor) room, great water pressure in shower, very comfortable bed and linens.

The room was fine—not great, not terrible. The front desk staff were lovely.. we had a “family” room, which would have been great with one larger bed and two twins, but the larger bed was basically a full sized bed—my husband and I were crushed together. I think our kids had much more room in their twin beds than we had in ours.

Hotel parking was great! And this hotel is set right against Derry’s famous walls. Many rooms have views over the river to the other side of town.

Everything about the property from start to finish was excellent. The staff was super friendly and always try to accommodate any requests. The location was great for walking pretty much anywhere I needed to go. Would definitely stay again and would recommend it to others

The staff in the hotel 1st class! From the receptionist who greeted us, and was font of local knowledge and tips. To kieran/Ciaran the night porter who dealt with a disturbance with firm professionalism. The hotel itself was good the room was generous in size the bathroom could do with an update as repairs had been done to a mixed standard and the room is just showing its age. But perfectly functional. I prefer a shower with a head on a hose rather than fixed to a wall but that’s a personal preference. I don’t think a plastic shower curtain has a place in a modern post Covid hotel. I just never feel they’re especially clean. The bed was big and very comfortable. The television was old and had a line running through it and only a very small selection of channels 4or 5. It wasn’t smart so couldn’t be streamed to or apps used which most hotels have these days. Some guests took the party to the room next to ours with people going from room to room allowing their respective doors to slam shut and talking/shouting. I contacted the night porter who responded quickly on all three occasions I contacted him through the night . We eventually got silence at 5am. But this was despite Kieran/ Ciaran’s best efforts and no fault of him or the hotel in any way. Breakfast was a buffet with a good selection of continental and traditional fry up items. I would stay here again as the location and staff were fantastic. The hotel needs some tlc here and there but nothing to put me off returning.

The front desk staff are incredibly helpful and kind. April helped us in numerous ways and found us a way to get a private car and tour of the area

The staff were incredibly helpful and hospitable as I had arrive a couple hours before my check in and they stored my large luggage with them whilst I explored the city. They also provided me a map, recommended affordable tours and some great sites to visit. I highly recommend this hotel as it is within walking distance to the nightlife, the historical areas, shopping centre and not far from the bus depot if you were catching a bus to another city. My hotel room came with a fan, a security safe for my valuables and I was lucky enough to have a room overlooking the river which was scenic with the Guild Hall and Peace Bridge in view. It was a wonderful experience and thank you again to the Maldron staff, you were all amazing!

Shannon on reception was excellent - one of the best members of staff we came across in our trip around Northern Ireland. No request was too much and she advised us of events and dining options that were so good.

We were so dissapointed, the service was very poor the little receptionist was nice but seemed to be trying to cope on her own so bit of a wait on checking in, Very haphazard introductory to the restaurant, we were told it was opened to 10 bit when we asked at 4 could we hv the easter sunday menu we were made to feel like we were a burden, they said they would have to check with the chef, we were not informed it stopped at a certain time?? In fact we weren't told anything other than, oh were tidying up not sure we have a table. Despite the place being empty bar one large family who were about to leave, we choose not to eat, breakfast we were met with the first pleasant helpful young lady with short blonde hair and glasses, but its a very tight fit to serve yourself, you need to get everything down to ur tea, Sorry wont be back just poor service. Ppl make a hotel and here personality is severely lacking!!!!

Had a short stay in Londonderry as part of a Northern Ireland holiday. Katie who checked me in was lovely and really helpful. Great recommendation re: city wall tour. Also, she made sure that I was aware that there was a train strike ongoing in case I was planning to go on the trains. Location of hotel is really good. Nearby to public transport, local attractions and places to eat. Hotel itself has a restaurant with a reasonably priced menu.

This hotel is located just within the city wall of Londonderry, and offered a quick entrance walk around the wall. It was very convenient to a lot of dining options and the hotel had free parking, which was a great benefit.

We found the hotel easily and were able to park onsite. There are limited spaces but parking on street areas appears free. The staff who checked us in were friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant on premises.The room was spacious, clean and comfy. We had a view of the Peace bridge from our window. The location was excellent and we toured many area of the city

The staff are great folks, helpful beyond the point that they should be. I have only one issue, the breakfast is appalling! You would get a better one in Coldizt, but as I said the staff are class

Stayed in hotel for 2 nights. Beds comfy and hotel is very central to shops, restaurants and bars. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was excellent. Also had afternoon tea and it was lovely too. Lady who served us gave a great recommendation for a restaurant when we asked and offered to book a table for us. Very enjoyable weekend.

Stayed for Halloween night. Close to all the activity. Nice clean hotel, room comfortable, bathroom a little dated, but clean. Breakfast was lovely, no queues, plenty of food. Would stay again.
