I booked this stay blindly. We were overly surprised how nice it was when we pulled in. The room was nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. I would stay again.

The staff at the hotel were the nicest people ever! We got to the hotel before the check in time, but they let us check in early. When we inquired about places to eat, they recommended the restaurant there and several of the waitresses chatted with us as we were checking out the menu trying to decide if I'd be able to eat anything on it because of my dietary issues. The hotel itself is decorated with a good mix of comfort and history. Our room was small and quaint. We were in the back of the historical section so it was quiet. The only complaints I have are the bed was way too hard, there isn't a fan in the bathroom and when I was showering the water all of a sudden got cold. Otherwise this is one of the best places my husband and I have stayed in! The hotel is right next to the state park where there's a spa and a Roman bathhouse where you can go soak in the mineral water. And again, the front desk clerks are the nicest, friendliest people!!! If/when we get back to Berkeley Springs, we will definitely stay there again, just not in the same room. 😊

We stayed in the historic section of the hotel, and unfortunately, it will be a one-time experience for us. If you're assigned a room on the third floor, be aware that there are no elevators, so you'll be climbing three flights of stairs every time you come and go. The furniture, especially the sitting chairs, was very uncomfortable—stiff with no ottoman or footrest, which would have made relaxing much easier. Another surprise was that there wasn't an electrical outlet in the bathroom for the hair dryer. There wasn't even an extension cord provided so it could be used outside the bathroom. The bed was comfortable enough, and the linens were decent. However, every electrical outlet in our room was so loose that none of our charging cords would stay plugged in. Even the slightest movement caused them to fall right out. If you're hoping to sleep in, don't count on it. We could clearly hear the housekeeping staff vacuuming and bumping into walls in the room above us early in the morning. Also, if your room faces the road, expect to hear every loud vehicle, horn, and siren throughout your stay. We gave this hotel a try because of its convenient location near the state park and the Roman Baths, but we won't be staying here again. On to the next one.

We had a great visit in Berkeley springs. We were there during the week so businesses close early. We enjoyed the bath house, infrared saunas, and salt caves. Relaxing trip.
