The staff was friendly and the location was convenient (though it is less Times Square area and more Hell’s Kitchen). Outside of those two things, I would not recommend staying here. Our showers were barely luke warm and, yes, we turned the knob all the way to the left as recommended. Our phone in our room did not work, the water pressure in the sink was very low, and there was no safe. The beds were okay, but nothing to write home about. It was clean enough, but you can tell the furniture and bedding have seen better days. I am not sure how this is considered a 4 star hotel. I personally would not stay here again.

My husband and I visited NYC for a 5 day vacation. We initially chose the Truss because of location and affordable price. I am happy to report that the location is very convenient - only a few blocks from a subway station, within walking distance of Time Square and Broadway, and surrounded by places to eat. There is a lovely market located a couple blocks away called the Big Apple and it has everything you could need. The best thing about staying at the Truss is Jessy. She is an absolutely delight! She made us feel so welcome, had excellent recommendations, and was very intentional about making our stay the best it could be. When we return in the future, we will stay at the Truss simply because of the phenomenal service Jessy provided. The hotel itself is very minimalist. There aren't any amenities such as a pool or fitness room. The rooms are few in number and small in size, but if you are going to NYC to experience the city, that's fine because you aren't going to spend much time in your room anyways. The decor is modern and updates have been made. The bed was decent, the TV worked well, there was a nice walk-in shower, and the AC worked - that's all we needed and we were perfectly happy. Given it's location, the stellar customer service, and affordability we will definitely stay here again in the future.

Very minimal decor in this hotel, so expect a clean room with a comfortable bed and little else. Ask for a room not facing the street, as 9th Ave. is insanely noisy overnight (hotel staff kindly assigned me a different room for my second night); otherwise, bring earplugs. We also had a problem with our bathroom door which, once closed, wouldn’t open from the inside; luckily one of us could open it from the outside. I don’t think I’ll be booking this hotel again.

The room was pretty big in comparison to other hotels we have stayed at in the area in the past. Great location. They even had afridge and mucriwave in the room. The only thing they didn't have was coffee in the room, which was very unusual. And no breakfast. But neither of these things bothered us. We had a great stay and will return. It was just right for a 2night stay.
