St. Clair Inn

Parking was a struggle, no carts are ever available, when booking there was no warning of half the hotel having no air / HVAC system not functioning and it has been a issue, and have no means to correct it anytime In the near future. Our room was in the 80s , and I was given the option to take a smalller room in the historical part of. The inn initially over the new part with no air And poor Ventilation. I chose the smaller room with air but then when given the key I was given one of the rooms with no air anyway and told it was a error and now they can't . Itbe following day I asked what they are doing to accommodate our for the poor quality rooms that are 80° especially at the high expense from these rooms. I was told I was given a discount or I have yet to see that.

Such a beautiful and peaceful place right on the water with walking distance from stores and restaurants. Would have been better if thy hot tub was adults only. Too many kids using it, kinda was a bummer.

Beautiful views but we were very disappointed the pool and hot tub were out if commission.

My husband and I did a quick overnight getaway. Here’s the Pros: Beautiful view of the river. We really enjoyed watching the boats and seeing the barges. Come by. The Customer Service was excellent, both the front desk and The Servers in The Dive and The Prohibition. The food and Drinks were excellent. The room was clean with a good view of the River. Liked they had a small refrigerator. Cons: I have mobility issues and no elevators to get to the Historic Rooms. We had to lug the luggage up two flights. A lot of stairs in general through out the Inn. Plus the pool was a haul. Also what Really was a bummer was that only six loungers and no regular seats at the pool. Six seats for the entire hotel!!! We couldn’t enjoy the pool like we wanted because there was nowhere to sit! We had to sit in the pool.

Hotel is very nice, clean and the view was beautiful. Really could use better lighting in room. Tiny bathroom and no well lit area to put makeup or mirror use. No lights by bed for reading etc. No elevator to 3 floor rooms just fyi…. Restaurant or bar not open on Mondays.

Our stay was great. Room was clean and comfortable. Only few issues which really wasn’t too bad. 1st we were on third floor ( stairs only) not a big deal. 2nd two weddings in hotel so restaurant was closed. We just went into town. 3rd hot tub was under repairs.

Receptionist was great. Did not have great service in the dive. For such a nice place we were surprised at the lack of amenities. Couldn’t eat in the dive the 2nd night because it was closed. Weddings both nights we were there and I get that it is a big money maker for you but we couldn’t sit outside by the water -no chairs. Breakfast was very lacking. Eggs were overcooked in the frittata and came with nothing ( toast or potatoes). Toilet paper is very cheap for such a nice place. Room was very nice but very small. Grounds were lovely and would have loved to have our wine in the outskirts de area but no place to sit.

We would have liked to have an elevator. Good view of the St. Clair River.

Loved the upgraded rooms. Hot tub and pool outside was awesome right on the river.

Nice location. Walking distance to many food options. This was important since neither the restaurant nor the bar were open while we were there. The pool area was also closed. Nice view of the river from outside. Our river view room had a nice view of the roof and a balcony of the room next door. Nicely decorated though.

Very clean hotel throughout from the lobby to the rooms and the outdoor pool. This is a great find on the waterfront with nice outdoor tables & chairs. Walking distance to several good restaurants. Check in was a breeze and the people are super friendly and accommodating.

The housekeeping left alot to be desired. Bed wasnt made properly or bathroom cleaned

Beautiful Inn to stay at. Easy check in and room was clean.

When we reserved i requested a 1st floor due to disability. Not only didnt i get a 1st floor, i was put in a 3rd floor room and there is no working elevator. All bags needed to be cartied up and back down at checkout. Also let desk know that the light was not eorking in our entrance hall and it was very dark. Noone came to replace it during our entire 3 day stay. Lastly we awoke to ants in the bedroom and bathroom ateas. When we told the front desk their reply was we dont have any bug spray. Not a good vacation stay.

This is my fourth time staying at this hotel and it’s just fabulous every time I stay there the staff is amazing. It’s super clean. It looks like a five star Hotel amazing place to spend the night.

The room was really nice! Clean and updated!

The lady at the front desk was wonderful and so helpful. You got a great girl there. But our bathroom was very dirty with many hairs in the shower which we cleaned. Your Bar tender was very nice and the salmon was excellent overall nice. Was our 25th anniversary

Good river view. Quiet. Good TV. Temperature adjustment did not work. Needed a second chair in the 2 bed unit. A plastic/paper bag for dirty clothes would be welcome.

Pillows were terrible

This is a gorgeous hotel but my god the worst hotel pillows and bed I’ve slept in some time. I mean, I don’t see how a hotel this beautiful has such horrible beds and pillows.

Our room was small and noisy. Air was on a timer so it didn’t run continually. Our room was warm. Grounds could be beautiful for watching freighters but area lacks chairs to enjoy the water. Very little enthusiasm from staff and even the lobby held no appeal. I was sorely disappointed.

My husband and I loved this property. Our room was a bit small, but we were never in there very much so it didn't bother us too much. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel is convenietly located to many other bars. Loved our stay!

The property is beautiful, and our view of the river was spectacular. Unfortunately, we were awakened several times in the night by the sound of doors slamming and people talking in the hallway.

Temperature in the room was terrible. From too warm to freezing all night. Very small with the only option to sit on the bed. Room was clean but no microwave for leftovers and had to ask for ice. The shade on the window allowed sun to blast in first thing in the morning. Loud banging doors and people screaming at all hours. Not sufficient parking. Could not get a spot if you left the property. And the biggest issue was the pillows. No support at all like sleeping on a cotton ball.

Great location. Fantastic restaurant. Rooms are a bit small, but comfortable. Highly recommend!

The Inn is beautiful! Staff is very friendly and helpful! Food and drinks were good. We stayed in an area where we could not control the temperature. This was fine for us at the time of our visit but could be an issue in very cold/hot weather. Our room was nice, spacious and clean. Balcony was a nice touch too. It is a bit loud with no carpet or anything to absorb sound but overall our stay was fantastic!

Rooms very small!

Staff was pleasant, kind, and courteus. They answered all my questions.

I booked the St. Clair. The property is charming and has a beautiful view of the water. I have a service animal that is with me at all times and was properly checked in to the property. I went to the lobby to enjoy a cup of coffee and breakfast and while I was making my coffee the front desk agent shouted at me from the desk asking if my animal was a service animal. This was not only extremely unprofessional, but also made me very uncomfortable as there were other guests who were also trying to get their food. I confirmed that my dog was a service animal and that we had checked in the day before and provided all of the documentation noted I have a service animal. I didn’t mind being asked but instead of screaming “ma’am” multiple times across the lobby until I realized they were speaking to me to ask if the dog is a service animal, it would have been more appropriate to walk up to me and ask. This unfortunately was not the only time this happened. We returned from dinner across the street after 10pm and our room was located on the far side of the hotel so we needed to enter through the lobby to access our room. As we turned down the hall the front desk agent (different than from before) yelled again asking if the animal was a service animal. This became very irritating as I felt like I was being harassed and shouted at by the staff for walking around the property with my service animal. Please train your staff better on interacting with people who have disabilities.

The staff at St Clair Inn are amazing! Nancy at the front desk was the best. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

The staff and place was amazing . We will be back

We called and they said we could probably check in at two. When we showed up at almost 230 they said we would be lucky if we even got in at 3 PM. We explained that we have a wedding and would need to get in when checking out there was nobody at the counter. I had to leave the keys on the counter. It was very hard to find help at the front counter. Our breakfast took 15 minutes to get to us. Our room AC was not working properly in the room was the tiniest room we have ever stayed in. The pillows were not comfortable at all.

Some issues with the HVAC system still to be addressed. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. I like to mention a few by name like David and Kim at the front desk, just exceptional as well as Tristan and Troy from Maintenance and last not least Laurie housekeeping. All go above and beyond. Thank you all for making our stay enjoyable

Great place to stay with great staff!

This hotel was extremely noisy at all hours of the night. I stayed for two nights. The first night there were two weddings just down the hall from the rooms. The wedding guests were yelling and pounding through the halls all night. In addition, a staff member hit my car in the lot overnight. I came out to find a police report under my windshield. I thought that the hotel would have at least contacted me before I went out to find the back of my car destroyed. When I contacted the manager, nothing was done. I actually had to call him twice because he didn’t call me back. All he said was that an incident report was filed and that was the right thing to do. Won’t be returning anytime soon

I never take the time to write reviews but my experience was so amazing I needed to. Kris at the front desk was SO accommodating. All staff was so helpful. Food was delicious. Room was gorgeous. I will be back!

We'd heard great things about the St. Clair Inn and finally acted upon it. We arranged to meet friends from Canada during the weekend my band was playing at the Riverview Plaza across the street. The personal touch we received when booking our room, checking in, and finding our way around the property was nothing short of amazing! Kristina and her staff truly have a passion for what they do and we felt it. The room itself was beautiful and tastfully updated, and the pool deck was terrific. The icing on the cake was visiting their Prohibition Bar after our show....Bartender, Mark, was fantastic and shows a love for his craft...After listening to us describe our taste preferences, Mark recommended a little-known Detroit-origin cocktail, called a Last Word. He didn't disappoint and we thoroughly enjoyed the historic nightcap!

We love the St. Clair Inn! The property is beautiful and has such architectural character. The views are stunning. St. Clair itself is a quaint, lovely little town. The staff is wonderful. What more could you want?!

The rooms and grounds at this hotel are very lovely. Very clean, very comfortable, and spacious. However, there were several distinct issues; 1. I was told at check in that there were issues with HVAC at my end of the hotel and I would have no control of my room temperature. This should have been made known in advance. My room was way too warm at night. 2. The hotel staff also slid a note under my door to let me know that for a small portion of my stay the TV in my room would also not be working due to a system upgrade. It seems like this is something that could be done in the middle of the night. 3. The continental breakfast offered was barely that. A few pastries, yogurt, bananas, coffee and orange juice was the totality of it. It was so small that a medium size round foyer table contained the complete contents. For hotel at this price point I would have expected a little more. A full breakfast is not necessary. But some source of protein or choices that were not loaded sugar would have been nice. 4. There are no amenities like coffee offered throughout the day in the lobby. 5. This is a pet friendly hotel so if barking dogs are not your thing…steer clear. On an overall…rooms are great! Property is beautiful. But for the price point the hospitality and amenities just don’t align. When you spend almost $700 for two nights it raises the expectations. I’ve had better service at a Hampton Inn. Therefore, while I loved the property the experience did not justify cost.

Filet at the Dive was excellent. Great wine and drink options. River side dining available. River view dining always available. Boardwalk by river exceptional. Had a glass of wine by riverside after dinner.

Absolutely loved the hotel! It has been beautifully renovated and is very modern and stylish inside. Everything about our stay was 5 stars—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The only downside was the service at the bar/restaurant. We dined outside twice, and both times the service was extremely slow, despite it not being very busy. That said, we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend overall!

Beautiful room. Parking is really difficult when there are events. I would recommend the city add a crosswalk sign and repaint the crosswalks. We did eat at the restaurant, it was disappointing. Undercooked sausage kinda set the tone.

Overprices for the size of the room (VERY SMALL) and the offered breakfast was stale leftover pastries and burnt coffee (cold continental). We got better service & good from Ecnolodge

Great historic hotel that is nestled next to the St Clair River with freighters going by as you sit in the pool. Spent the afternoon experiencing the local art fair and vendors. From locals to staff, everyone was friendly and accommodating. The only disappointment was that neither of the bars were open during our visit.
