The hotel is advertised on hotels.com as having a gym (the main reason I booked it). Upon check in, I discovered that the gym has not been open for months. The remote control and the safe in the room were not working.

Hotel needs a refit. Room very dusty - had to buy cleaning stuff to do it myself. Air conditioning clogged with dust - constantly pumping out lumps of dust. Lift intermittent - cleaner who I asked if it was out of order rude (told me ‘Use the stairs’ even though I had 2 bags and back pack). I asked reception and left please clean room sign on door 3 times but room was never cleaned. Car park in need of resurfacing.

There is an open air parking area at the rear of the hotel. There is a flight of stairs at the rear door to get up to the main lobby floor. The lift provided there was out of order through most of my stay and my 89 year old mother had to make her way up and down the stairs. Similarly the breakfast room was a floor above the lobby and my mother had to climb the stairs up and down each morning. If there was a lift to get there, no member of staff pointed out where it was.

A nice budget hotel with good amenities. Great location right on the embankment. The staff were super nice and helpful. Ample parking to the rear (£5 per 24 hours). Great view of the river from the restaurant.

Good hotel. No issues during our stay. Hotel is a bit dated and tired from outside but lobby and rooms are quite nice. Car parks a little tricky to get into with narrow high entrance kerbs so watch your alloys! Nice area with good view of the river

The hotel was lovely friendly staff had no problems with hotel in the morning we took our things to the car in hotel car park somebody broke into my car stole my jacket and kindly left a bottle of wee on my front seat so my advice is do not park in hotel carpark

I was happy with most things. The only complaint i would have is that there was a distinct smell of feces coming from the toilet. I thought someone might have just been to the toilet before i got to my room. However, i went out for dinner and when i came back to my room the smell was still there.

The location is great. The hotel lobby and bar area is nice and we enjoyed the view. The room has been upgraded but needs a really good clean. The carpets are heavily stained, curtains have stains on them, shower had mold in it that could easily be wiped off with a cloth and the windows are very old and covered in mold. The bed was comfortable and bedding was not bad. The double room we had for one night was tiny and the shower had mold and the carpet was stained. We then had a king premium room for 7 nights and it was a lot larger and nicer. The one robe was nice enough to use the second robe we used to cover the stained chair so we could sit on it. The fridge was handy to have for some cold drinks. The king room did have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and a couple extra bathroom items. The double only had shampoo and body wash.

Room lovely clean and bright, up to date and beds v comfy. Sadly a loose component on the exterior of the window rattled all night long and disturbed our sleep. Our room had an adjoining door and so we were then woken at 530 am by next door’s radio/tv. The shower had a dodgy jet that squirted water all over bathroom floor.

Nice one night stay, huge room. Shower head a bit low, lucky I’m not taller. A couple of lightbulbs out but big windows meant bright room in daytime. Breakfast adequate to set us up for the day.

The location was great for work and visit alike, The hotel staff where polite and friendly and did their best to accommodate where requested. I would recommend staying there. The only thing is the windows in the tower part of the Hotel have seen better days and really should be replaced, although with the secondary double glazing its not a big issue.

My third stay and the best so far. Previously I've been in rooms that have an interconnecting door and there's been some noise. This room was smaller but perfect for my needs and the aircon on a hot sunny day was a delight on entering the room.

The staff were all lovely and the bar areas are really nice and modern. Location is good and has easy access parking. The rooms have been sort of updated, and look ok. Our complaint was the windows. They rattled all night and wind just howled. I got very little sleep. Am sure it wouldn’t of been as bad had it not been for the high winds last night

There were a number of points wrong with the room and the service staying at the hotel. On providing the feeds back to the manager they then proceeded to argue the points, so I stopped my feedback and left. The issues with the hotel and the service will continue and I won’t be staying there again.

Not good service by Receptionist on arrival. She seemed pleasant enough but was ‘snarky’ and smug. Room cold and heating controlled by hotel. Lift not level on occasion and our concern dismissed. Another receptionist refused to freeze our cooler pack ice block saying not allowed whereas waiter said it was fine. Very limited menu. Fab view from our room and we would only return because of that.

The property was well situated in the town centre easy access to places such as the town centre the hotel was very well maintained and I really liked it. The staff were very nice and very helpful especially Meher she was very nice friendly and very helpful her customer service was excellent and she was able to give me the perfect advice.

A bit of a late review for this first trip, however this stay was extremely pleasant and comfortable. The only issue I had was requesting a wine glass and help with the aircon system via the reception WhatsApp, but it took so long that I decided to go to the bar and get it myself and try my best to figure the system out. Reception did manage to come about 4 hours later, but this didn’t bother me as I think it was just natural human error. Overall though, the stay was extremely comfortable and staff extremely friendly.

I arrived at the hotel lugged my bags into the room for a three day stay on business unpacked and then tried to put my keys and other valuables in the safe. the instructions were unintelligible but it simply did not work, the manager came and could not get it to work and he offered to move me or get it repaired first thing the next morning. Rather than upheaval I elected to stay in my room. Overnight I discovered the TV did not work, the extractor in the bathroom did not work and the light in the shower intermittently went off. I reported these first thing and was told they would be done or I would be moved. The next day when I returned none of the jobs had been done and I asked to be moved, all they could offer was a room with a single bed so I declined. The second issue is if you have a ground floor room on the opposite side to the river you face a small road and car park that god knows whet goes on in as it was noisy until 1AM and then the bin lorries or whatever arrive at 5.30AM to empty the bins so not restful. on moving my bags out the lift to the car park was not working. A very tired hotel IMO. NOT A WORD OF APOLOGY FROM THE STAFF ON CHECK OUT AND NONE OF THE "HOW WAS YOUR STAY" questions!

Hotel was lovely, the privilege room was very nice, would definitely stay again. However access from the car park was a pain. I also paid for parking and they sold the space to someone else so I had to pay in a public car park elsewhere. They also didn't check me in when I arrived. I came back that night and they had no record of me even though my stuff was in the room and I had a key. They were friendly and helpful sorting it, but having issues in the first place was a pain.

The room was not good at all. There were previous guests hair in the shower, the openable window had foil all around it to prevent it opening and the TV didn't work. The toilet also leaked (clean water thankfully) so the bathroom floor was flooded. Breakfast was poor at best. Rubbery bacon & over cooked "fried" eggs. The lady working behind the bar had no experience doing so and was out of her depth. The car park was unsafe. People congregated around it and smashed bottles scattered over spaces. Overall, it was a terrible stay and I would not recommend.

Very dated hotel. Corridors reek of damp. Room very small but clean and comfortable Breakfast poor - one poor woman trying, unsuccessfully to keep everything topped up. Had to ask for sausages, hash browns, HP sauce and glasses for orange juice. Juice then ran out, fruit salad was empty and pastries too.

Overall, a great stay. The hotel isn’t pretty from the outside, but it makes up for it inside. I found the rooms to be more modern than other Mercure Hotels that I have stayed in. The breakfast was excellent. Plenty to choose from and fresh too. Great value for money and would definitely stay there again.

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was simple but met my needs as I didn’t stay in the hotel during the day. The bar had a decent selection of food, had a large well kept clean eating area, and the breakfast was good. Some parts of the hotel were tired looking, shut off and in a state of disrepair but the communal areas were well kept and attractive. Lovely view of the canal from the bar area and upstairs breakfast dining area, but I didn’t get a chance to walk along side of it. The car park was convenient as it was located downstairs and easy to get to. Was a bit of a maze in the actual hotel but you quickly got used to where to go. I stayed on the 2nd floor and didn’t have the best view from my hotel window as it overlooked a large roof with a big metal pipe. Would have hoped the window would open even just a little for fresh air at night. I think there was an air con unit in the room (didn’t try it), but I personally prefer natural air. Parking cost £7 per night (24hours). Staff were helpful . I would stay here again.

When we arrived the carpark was over-filled with cars blocking entry/exit. Reception staff were not interested in helping. Staff were contradicting each other on process for checking in making an already stressful situation worse. Hotel bar had cashed up around 10.30pm leaving only a card payment option and then we were told the bar was closing at 11pm even though people were still drinking. Overall the hotel was nice and food and rooms good. Some staff and their attitudes and hotel procedures need a lot of working on.
