Upon arrival you will find an older lodge type accommodation. Everyone was efficient and friendly. Plenty of towels, you can get ice down in the lobby thru the restaurant. Rooms are older and haven’t been updated in a while, but the location and view of the lake is why you come (unless it’s winter-then skiers) There is a bar/grill that serves dinner- no breakfast. Beds are older and could be updated, but rooms were clean. Very quiet. Enjoyed live music the night we stayed.

Room is sufficient for a single night stay. Motel is very dated. Surrounding area is very beautiful and would be convenient in ski season as the property is adjacent to a ski resort. After a long day on the road, we were counting on eating at the on site restaurant- would have been good to know it is only open on weekends and Ghent is not really a town. There are no local options.

Heater seemed to keep the room too warm, we just turned it off and we were comfortable. Room was a bit dated, the faucet moved around a lot. The restaurant and lounge were great! Good music on Friday night. There is only regular coffee in the morning (which was fine for us) the “danishes” are just individually wrapped hostess brand. Be aware when booking on certain sites that charge extra for the coffee and danishes, we saw a few people upset that they paid extra for what was offered. The employee informed them that there is never an extra charge for the coffee and danishes. Over all it served our purpose, I’m sure it’s a party place during the ski season and no one cares about the little inconveniences.

Skyline Lodge is o good place to stay in that there is a restaurant and bar located within the lodge. The food is very good and the bar staff was friendly. There are food and drink specials. There is entertainment on the weekends. The beds are comfy. On the negative side there is no ice machine. You can get ice if you ask the front desk. There are no luggage carts. There are no phones in the rooms. The rooms have tile floors instead of carpet. I had to crawl under the bed to find an outlet to charge my phone. The driveway and parking lot could stand done better repair. The overall appearance of the lodge could use a little sprucing up.The positives do outweigh the negatives and I would recommend a stay there.

Quaint place off the beaten path. We did not really get to see the whole property because of the rain (not the Inn’s fault). No ice machine, you had to ask for ice at the front desk. When we left we had to call someone to take our keys as the check in process made it very clear you would be charged/penalized if you did ot turn your keys into the front desk. No business center, I needed to pint & fax something, so went to the local library for help, which turned out great. Would not stay again, but it was an ok stay.

Great Secluded location, upgraded to morning pastry and coffee which we enjoyed next to the mountain lake surrounded by fresh air and nature. Desk staff was very professional. Restaurant/bar on location, plenty of parking. We left after a long drive rested and happy!

Positives: Quiet, private and clean bedding. Restaurant was decent and the outdoor patio was a nice place to relax for live music Fridays and Saturdays. Staff were polite and check-in/out were both quick, easy processes. Super affordable stay as well. Negatives: Beds were kinda thin/uncomfy and "breakfast" was a limited quantity of prepackaged muffins and coffee. The driveway and parking lot were FULL of potholes, so drive slowly. Overall, experience was decent though! Just dont expect any fancy decor or amenities - this place is pretty minimal. But thats to be expected when you should be out of the lodge and enjoying the surrounding parks and attractions instead!

Super musty smells, horribly damp bedding, old old OLD amenities. The workers were super kind and tried to be helpful, but the place just needs renovated. Black mold in our first room, what looked to be feces or puke splattered on the walls in the second? We booked two night but left after one. My son can’t handle the moisture and musty air quality. So bummed.. lost out on some money.. but the outdoor view is lovely.

Place was very dated which I expected. Unfortunately it was also very dirty. My grandsons white socks were filthy on the bottoms from the room. We were planning to stay 2 nights but I couldn’t do it. When we got up in the morning everything in the room was wet I suppose from sweating. Beds were very uncomfortable. I would not recommend this place unless you like roughing it.

Our room had a fantastic view of the lake. Truly a wonderful place to stay. Price was fantastic as well. Staff were amazing. Location says they don’t have breakfast but they offered a simple coffee bar with muffins and danishes which was nice.

The property was very scenic and quiet. However, being so close to a lake, everything in one of our rooms (the side facing the lake) was very, very damp. Floors, blankets, pillows towels - everything. When I woke up, all of our belonging that were not enclosed were damp. The other room (on the other side, not facing the lake) was fine.

I've never stayed in a place like this so haven't submitted a poor review before. Let me first say that the check in process went smooth and quick. However, the lady who checked us in was not friendly at all, did not smile and was not welcoming. She could have been having a bad day, so grace is given. However, being in customer service, you're at least pleasant when customers come to your business. The room was horrible. This is an old ski lodge which we knew when we reserved the room and it's very basic. The beds were more like doubles instead of queens and were very uncomfortable. The pillows were old. The floors were filthy and we had to wear our shoes while walking around the room, as food crumbs and long hair were sticking to our feet. There were potato chip crumbs in the corners of the bathroom and dust on the furniture and air conditioner. It looked like the room hadn't been cleaned since before the last occupants stayed in that room. I do say the sheets had been changed, the bathroom cleaned (except the floors) and the counters wiped down. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Skyline Lodge.

This property was in a lovely, secluded area that travelers are unlikely to happen upon. You really have to know it’s there. It had everything I needed in a hotel stay, except decent TV service. The TV was really odd, took an inordinate amount of time to register a remote control command, and had bizarre channel offerings that were completely irrelevant to your average viewer (no local, news, or sports channels).

This is an extremely dated motel ( by no means is it a "resort"). There is a pretty lake in the back that half of the rooms can view, but the front is just a parking lot. The room furniture was very old and rough, but it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is extremely small with a very low commode

It was hard to find the place as the big sign at the road was not lit and the area is very dark. The area was quiet. There was a good selection of pillows. The heater was loud. The light switch at the door to the room did not work.

I would have given a 5 star review, however, our room faced the parking lot and the lights shined through the windows. Need to have black out curtains if your room is facing the parking lot. Found it difficult to sleep with the room bright from lights.

The bed was very comfortable, the shower head had great pressure. Room was a little outdated especially in the bathroom. Tile floor didn't match etc. But overall it was a good place to stay. I got a good nights sleep and a hreat shower in the morning.

Nice tavern with good food, craft beer, and a pool table. The room need updated, the window heat pump was very noisy. I had to use earplugs.

The rooms pictured in the property details were not representative of my room. My room was very outdated and worse for wear. The baseboard was torn up. The carpet was stained and wallpaper was peeling. I was not comfortable at all in the musty room and I didn't shower while I was there because the bathroom was so dingy and unclean looking. They still use keys instead of key cards. I wondered how easily it is to make copies so security is very lacking I believe. I was very disappointed by the state of tge property after seeing what loojed lije s decent place online. The woman who checked me in walkedbaway from the desk as I pulled up. She put a sign up that she woukd be back soon but I had to call her to get checked in. She walked right by me without responding when I said hello. She never made eye contact and it was very clear she was annoyed that I called her to come back even though thst is what the sign said to do. I waited at least 5 minutes hoping she would return on her own which she did not. Bottom line. I did not enjoy my stsy from the first contact with her and with the ickiness if my room. I can't recommend this motel. Don't be fooked by the pictures. Also, the walls are paper thin.

We attended a family wedding in the area and the Skyline Lodge was very convenient for many family members to stay at the same place for a reasonable price. The lodge is clean but a bit dated (didn't bother us). Front desk person was not very friendly and seemed bothered by our being there; barked at us a few times for minor issues that could have been better resolved with courtesy (Please and thank you go a long way). Restaurant/bar manager was wonderful, friendly and helpful. All and all, a very nice weekend with family at the Skyline Lodge and I would stay again

The front office attendant was beyond amazing. Unfortunately didn't get his name. He went out of his way to make sure we got a better room than the hotels.com booked for us. We truly appreciate him!

We arrived in a snowstorm. It’s a ski lodge so it suits that demographic. No nearby restaurants and the lodge restaurant wasn’t supposed to be open that day. However, due to the storm, employees gave up their time off to come in and cook for guests who were stuck. We were so grateful. All of the employees went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. Highly recommend this lodge.

Receptionist (young female) at check in was rude. Checkout was 10 am- leave the premises with no available later checkout options. Walls were thin so could hear conversations next door. Bedspreads were very worn/faded and I was scared they hadnt been washed in awhile. Carpet was gross. I would like to thank the very cheerful man at checkout. He was very pleasant and started my day with a smile. He was way better than my first impression with the rude girl the night before.

I've never stayed in a place like this so haven't submitted a poor review before. Let me first say that the check in process went smooth and quick. However, the lady who checked us in was not friendly at all, did not smile and was not welcoming. She could have been having a bad day, so grace is given. However, being in customer service, you're at least pleasant when customers come to your business. The room was horrible. This is an old ski lodge which we knew when we reserved the room and it's very basic. The beds were more like doubles instead of queens and were very uncomfortable. The pillows were old. The floors were filthy and we had to wear our shoes while walking around the room, as food crumbs and long hair were sticking to our feet. There were potato chip crumbs in the corners of the bathroom and dust on the furniture and air conditioner. It looked like the room hadn't been cleaned since before the last occupants stayed in that room. I do say the sheets had been changed, the bathroom cleaned (except the floors) and the counters wiped down. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Skyline Lodge.

Background: I stay in 100 motels per year, each for one night. The stay was fine except for a highly unusual 10AM checkout. OK, no problem, except they didn't mention it and it was not on the back of the door. It was in a page of fine print I signed without reading. OK. They were surly after they pounded on my door, killing the enjoyment of the property and that morning. That they gave me 30 minutes is irrelevant. Management should train their people in customer service.

It’s a GPS nightmare trying to find this place. Every town in America has a Lakeview Drive. After driving 11 hours, it was not a welcome challenge. Not really the lodge’s problem I realize, but when your GPS sends you a half hour to the south, and you turn onto a long dirt road that has signs posted, “This is not Skyline Lodge. Private property”, that’s very telling as to other travelers having the same problem. Orbitz compounded this problem, by only listing the address, and not the phone number of the lodge.

I liked that is was located near the hwy. The property is next to the small lake which is very pretty for a picnic at the benches. We stayed overnight only and couldn't enjoy the area.

Seeking budget accommodation without sacrificing cleanliness? Older facility that shows its age, but relatively unimportant. Just off I-77 outside Beckley, very close to Flat Top Lake, this two story motel is in a quiet, seemingly safe location with plenty of parking available.

Clean and quiet room on second floor with carpeted floors. Skyline Lodge is very convenient and our place to go when skiing at Winterplace which is only 3 minutes away. Also convenient is the restaurant inside the lodge, everything we tried on their menu was very tasty.

The property was ok for the price. It definitely isn’t walking distance to the ski area. The rooms are very outdated. Lighting was poor. The restaurant was only open for dinner. But for the price it served its purpose. We would stay here again but plan better for the limited food options.

Perfect place to stay and ski at Winterplace. Location could not be better. Staff was friendly. Room was clean and neat. They even had muffins for breakfast. We will use them again next time. Could not have beem better!!

The staff was super friendly. The location right of the interstate was very convenient. We were assigned a water view and that was a pleasant surprise. This time of year was beautiful and less congested if you want a quieter place.

Inexpensive and generally ok but need some fixing. Sink wouldn’t drain and was stained. “ Breakfast” was a danish in cellophane wrap. Nice views out back.

Room is sufficient for a single night stay. Motel is very dated. Surrounding area is very beautiful and would be convenient in ski season as the property is adjacent to a ski resort. After a long day on the road, we were counting on eating at the on site restaurant- would have been good to know it is only open on weekends and Ghent is not really a town. There are no local options.

The location for skiing at Winter Place is great, and the room was clean. However, none of the staff were friendly. The food in the restaurant didn’t taste good; we tried the ribeye steak and chicken Alfredo.

Perfect for overnight stop Nice atmosphere,convenient right off the interstate. Clean room and overall motel.Having a bar and restuarant on site,meant we did not have to leave to eat and could relax for the evening.

We love staying there as a stop on our way from ohio to South Carolina. Nice bar and outdoor patio with music. Rooms could use upgrading however it seems they are in the process of doing them. Great Friday beer specials.

We picked this place because they were advertised as having a bar on site. Bar appeared to have been closed for an extended time due to no liquor license. This would have made a big difference in our selection.

This is a lovely little spot. If you’re looking for a lot of action you probably wouldn’t like it. If you want a nice quiet place to relax this is the spot. The restaurant is very good and reasonable prices. They were open for dinner only. We found a great spot for lunch about 10 miles away in Beckley- The Dish. Excellent food and service. We chose to come to the area to go to the national park. It’s a little less than an hour away but worth the trip. Enjoy the view of the lake in back.
