Nice cheap place to stay. Shared bathroom/shower. Expensive parking nearby especially on game days. So that was an unwelcomed surprise. But for the $ and the cool area nearby. It’s not a bad choice.

Good place to stay (sf standards) during low budget trips. No elevator access, building is old but rooms are nicely renovated and clean. Common areas are clean and well maintained. This is one of the better low cost options if you need a low budget SF stay.

Close transportation...Variety of diners walkable distance..Its South of Market so clubs and music..no parking..but clean rooms with shared baths at a reasonable price.

No fridge or microwave, not in the rooms or even the common areas. Gave us 1 towel for 2 people, and when I asked for another one, they said it was too late and that I had to ask during housekeeping hours. Nice venue downstairs and a restaurant, but that doesn't mean that you should make it impossible to bring any other food. I dont want to eat at a restaurant for every single meal.

Manager was so kind. Althogh the condition is not pergect but it\'s very economocal and cheaper than any others. Additionally; it"s easy to access for transportations and mart imclude sfo & safeway. But the disadvatage are no private restroom, no private shower booth, & no elevator. This spot was relatively safer than I expected however, It was not too quiet for the freeway, railroad, &:pub in the groind floor.

SHARED BATHROOM!!! Lots of negative reviews because people weren't aware of it! If you don't mind that then this place is perfect! Walking distance for Giants games, close to transit, clean rooms, comfortable bed, cool bar downstairs! The bathrooms are clean, just not in your room-- really not a big deal though, especially with the price here compared to everything else in the Bay Area!

the Utah is an older hotel but it's a budget stay. The room was clean and it did the job for a single male staying in the city for a night. Nothing fancy but it has a charm to it. Highly recommend checking out the bar downstairs. Great staff at both.

The hotel looks to have been newly remodeled. It was nice. The rooms have a sink. There is only one shower and toilet on each floor. There is no fridge or closet or hangers in the room. The TV didn’t work properly but the WiFi does so take your own entertainment. It’s three blocks away from Market Street and it’s a fair price for the location. The biggest issue is the bar downstairs. They have live music so it might be difficult to get to sleep if you’re bothered by that.

Pretty cool hotel, just stayed in 1 night and wasn’t as bad as I expected. You’ll have to park like 3-4 min away and walk 5-10 min. 7 hours of parking and only paid $20 for Parking. Cheap and affordable.

Disgusting hotel, bed bugs and roaches. Rude managers.I left early and did not care about the money spent. I’d rather sleep in my car than stay in this roach motel.

Dirty towels and room

Very old building in bad conditions, lack of cleaning and no cleaning service at all. Cheaper than others but I would avoid in the future…

For the price, this was hands-down the best. Shared bathrooms were kept clean and in-room sink allowed for quick washing up if bathroom was unavailable. Room was spacious and it was nice to be able to open the window for fresh air.

Door shuts but has 1/2" gap and easily opened without a key. Deadbolt inoperable. Small items stolen while at work, front desk complained when asked to review the security footage to my door for the day. Then, repeatedly skipped video when staff approached my door. Hotels sits above train line and two separate bars/ clubs. So, if one doesn't keep you awake another will. Other less than acceptable but less relevant "features" - room is listed as shared bath with 1 other room, 7 rooms share 1 bathroom. No hangers, soap, hand towels, or toilet paper provided. Furniture is unusable; torn/ worn and appears to have come from the dump. **I'll return to add pics from my phone (same as my Google review).

I was very pleased with what I got for the price I paid! But everyone should be aware, this is an older building and sound travels through the walls. There is a bar on the ground floor that did not close up until 2 AM. So getting a good night of sleep before then is hard!

It’s not a luxury hotel by any means, but it’s cheap enough that it doesn’t matter. Everything was pretty clean. The only comfort complaints I have are that the windows do not seal out the noise from the outside very well, and the rooms get a little warm with no climate control.

It was adequate. Would have liked a dresser or closet to put clothes away or hang them. Room was really just a bed and sink.

Windows didn’t seal so you could hear the traffic and people out side all night long until the Night club closed. No Fridge or AC.

Clean and basic. You get what you pay for. No washcloth, no tissues, no hangers, limited space to put your stuff - basically you get a bed, a small stuffed chair and table, a sink, and a bathroom down the hall.

Perfect for an inexpensive stay. The room was just a bed, tv, and sink. The windows were nice, just didn’t block out noise from outside. Also, the rooms are above a bar that seems to play live music, so maybe not the best sleep for everyone. Can feel a bit unsafe being it’s near a highway overpass and a bit far from the bustling city. Besides that, it’s relatively close to lots of things since the public transport is really neat in San Francisco.

The hotel served its purpose well for me as an inexpensive option near the Mission Bay neighborhood. However, as it is located directly adjacent to I-80, the bedrooms are quite noisy, and it can be difficult to sleep. There is a particular metal plate on the street right outside the building that makes a loud clang every time a car drives over it. The facilities were reasonably well-kept, although the absence of a sink in the toilet room was a bit inconvenient. The rooms had sinks but no paper towels, which required me to make trips down the hall to fetch toilet paper if I needed to wipe down the faucet or mirror. Overall, I think I got what I paid for and found that the Utah Inn fits into the niche of a budget option in its neighborhood.

Would Not Recommend I understand staying here is cheap, but honestly, it’s not worth it. From the moment I arrived, the experience was unpleasant. The front desk staff were rude, dismissive, and treated me in a way that felt inhuman. There was no hospitality, no warmth, and no sense of basic customer service. Room service is virtually non-existent. Don’t expect clean towels, a trash pickup, or any support unless you push for it—and even then, good luck getting a response. The shared bathrooms can get dirty fast, and I’ve seen them left uncleaned for over a day, which is unacceptable for any lodging. On top of that, the building itself feels unsafe. There are leaks in the ceiling, the roof literally drips, and parts of the structure feel like they’re tilting. It doesn’t feel like a place that should be open for business. This isn’t just a bad experience—it’s a situation that feels neglected and borderline dangerous. I genuinely feel this place should be inspected, if not reported, for health and safety reasons. Yes, the price is low, but don’t let that fool you. What you save in money, you pay for in stress, discomfort, and disappointment. I won’t be staying here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I think this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed. I'm aware that the price is low and you get what you pay but the service was terrible, the front desk receptionist was really rude, zero helpful and showed no hospitality at all. At the check out we asked if we could storage our luggage for a few hours but he only said no for no reason, awful service and experience. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone

I requested housekeeping and a fresh towel (you only get one). I found out when i got home at midnight that they forgot the towel. I went to the desk but no one came. I tried again at 7 am, but no one came. I called at 8:30 am, no one answered. At 9 am i went back to the desk and knocked loudly. The agent came out and complained that i woke him. This is a sh*t hotel, but great if you need cheap.

Stayed here for about 2 and a half too 3 weeks, loved it at first and then the male who I'm guessing owns the hotel started being very rude and hostile towards me. I paid every day for the whole time I stayed there on time, but the last day I was there I told him I was going to be a little late due too an issue with payroll I had to fix before my direct deposit could be processed. He was ok with it and so a little time had passed, I just got off the phone with my boss who confirmed it would be in my account within the next 15 minutes, I get a knock on the door and it's the owner. Screaming at me, banging on the door, making a HUGE scene about it even though he had told me earlier that it was ok & to come pay when I got it in my account. He made me pack up everything and leave. His loss, I'll never be staying here nor will I ever refer anyone to this hotel!

It's exactly what you'd expect for the price in downtown S.F.: affordable room, close to the waterfront and the ballpark, shared bathrooms and shower, a little dated. Like most downtowns there's sketchy people nearby ... an obvious drugged out person attempted to break into our rental car in the morning. Not the hotel's fault, but definitely bring all your belongings inside during your stay. Good staff, easy to check in and out, a nice, fun bar/diner downstairs, and the rooms are small but serviceable for a couple people just looking for the location. A solid 4/5 stars.

The experience was good.It was close to Oracle Park.Safeway is on king st..The cost was cheap but clean.

Unbeatable deal. Amazing location. City bikes and transit steps away. Safe and quiet, I was able to work remotely from my room.

This place was a dump, we loved it. For the price and location it was everything we thought it would be. Shared bathrooms, no problem! Crackhead out side screammg all night, loved it! Would def recommend if you are just in the city to party or go to a show, 5-10 min walk to oracle. If you have any standards at all, i would highly not recommend this place. We'll be back!

The Utah Hotel is a very old & historic place.... It is not an upscale resort hotel type lodge... So... no frills, reasonable price, basic accomodations. Small Room with shared bathroom set up. So if this is not your idea of a nice place to stay.... Ya can't complain !!!! Just Sayin'...The Historic Utah Saloon is on the ground floor & I had a Fantastic & memorable experience there. The staff, including Marina the manger & Vince the Bartender are absolutely Outstanding Human Beings... And all the Locals who hang out there are Fabulous !!! Very friendly & genuine. This place might be for everybody.... But I will never forget about the good times I had here !!!! Enjoy Life, Eh !!!

I love this place! The Utah is one step above a hostel so you have a shared bathroom and basic amenities. But if that’s all you need it’s perfect. The building is an old Victorian and very picturesque. The lower lever is a cool old bar with great cocktail delicious food and live music every night. It is loud with the sounds of a vibrant city but I like that too.

For the price this place is a bargain and they let u stay a few weeks. Nice. Great access to transit and the waterfront and Downtown. Putting it in my San Francisco hotel shuffle rotation. Wish they had a microwave somewhere and mini fridge but worth it. Nice family managing the desk.
