From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff catered to all of our needs and then some. Every guest had access to a butler. The first night, Chuck, arranged for dinner reservations, and when we returned he had several brochures, maps, and walking tours, along with dinning options. We appreciated that very much. Each evening there was a dessert shot in a chocolate shot cup. They were very good. In addition, all food and beverage items in the room were free-so many places charge extra. Breakfast was included in our stay and we had several choices. It included room service. The room was always clean and tidy with plenty of available toiletries. Whatever was needed-the butler service would handle, including ironing and shoe shining. In addition, when you arrive, you are given a complementary beverage of choice. They have valet service. We checked out of the hotel and attended a tour. The hotel staff was gracious to allow our car to remain on the property so we could attend. I highly recommend The Spectator Hotel. We will definitely stay again.

This was a gem! Service from curb to room was extraordinary! We particularly loved the personal butler services from Will and Jim. Room came with complimentary waters/sodas and a basket of local snacks. We were kind of obsessed with the Bennie Wafers and and were later provided a few extra little bags on a silver platter. Cant say enough about the service. Room was well appointed with lovely bamboo matress, cotton sheets, plently of charging ports, a marble bathroom with lovely local toiletries, turndown service (which included some chocolates and water), complimentary breakfast served in our room, etc. I could go on and on. Oh they also have complimentary bicycles! Dont hesitate to book this hotel!

Everything was great except for the breakfast. The eggs were watery. The decaf coffee did not taste good. The bakery items were not fresh. They wee hard and stale. The yogurt was ok but way too sugary. We did not have breakfast the last day because we tried each item and we were not impressed,The bikes that you are allowed to use are in very poor condition and the seats are not stable. The majority of the staff were very nice!

This is an excellent, sophisticated small hotel with very helpful and responsive staff. While there is no restaurant onsite they do serve an excellent breakfast in your room. One of its great attractions, though, is the fantastic bar just off of the lobby. And the bartender and his assistant are absolutely the best…friendly, knowledgeable and a source of good information about Charleston. Nothing not to like here!

We have stayed here numerous times over the past few years. The hotel is beautiful but they are not doing a good job of keeping it clean and upkeeping it. The beds are worn and too soft and the place is nowhere near as clean as it was in the past. My white socks turned nearly black on the bathroom floor. The people are great and the bar is spectacular but there is room for improvement in cleaning and comfort. I do not think it was worth the $2k for the weekend.

The standout was the personalized service and attention to detail the staff made during each interaction. Standouts were the reception with Wade and breakfast service in the bar with Darrel! Thank you for making us feel so welcomed.

Excellent! The best hotel experience we’ve ever had. The hotel was beautiful & immaculate. All the staff were very friendly & helpful, especially the butlers on staff. The butler Jim was especially helpful with restaurants & activities to go/see. Room was beautiful & came with complimentary breakfast, beverages in the mini fridge, & snacks (which were all excellent.) We were well taken care of & catered to. The butler team even went out of their way to offer a special treat to celebrate our baby moon vacation with a baby book, onesie, bottle of sparkling juice, & thoughtful note. This will be the hotel we stay at every time we come to visit Charleston.

Treated like royalty from the moment you pull up to the door. Professional , warm staff in every department. As an avid travelers very few places make you feel the way The Spectator Hotel does . If you want an incredible experience visiting Charleston, SC , I advise you to place yourself in the professional hands of The Spectator. Every staff member has unlimited ideas of must sees through the city and all the inside on hidden gems to visit. Clean , professional, and inviting. We will be returning.

The service was amazing! Chuck welcomed us to the Hotel and gave suggestions on activities we might enjoy. He followed up independently and brought brochures on the activities we discussed. The staff brought evening treats with turn down service. The room was elegant and very clean. Walking distance to numerous activities and restaurants. We loved our stay at The Spectator!

We had a beautiful stay at the Spectator Hotel. Staff and accomodations were top notch. The room was extremely quiet and luxurious. On our way back to the hotel after dining at the Magnolia Restaurant I stopped at a convenient store in the area. It did not seem very safe. But I could be totally wrong. We were on foot, not driving so was extra cautious. The market was very enjoyable and we walked around king street for all of the shopping. I will definetely be back to visit Charleston and would stay again at the beautiful Spectator Hotel.

Staff were courteous, efficient and professional. Loved how spacious our room was. Double vanities and towel warmer in bathroom were a huge plus as was the Nespresso machine and complimentary bottles of water refreshed daily in our room. Lobby bar is beautiful and serves up some legit cocktails. Would definitely stay at The Spectator on our next visit to Charleston

We love everything about the hotel. From the time we arrived-from the valet, check-in staff butler staff, cleaning staff and the bartenders-everyone was so friendly and helpful. Butlers,Jim and Will,were very informative on things to do/places to eat. Will was a hoot-he made us laugh every time we saw him. I’ve been to many hotels across the world and this is at the top for sure! We thought you guys may have gone to Japan to get your service training. We cannot complain about anything. We definitely will stay here again when we visit the city again!!

The Spectator was probably the best hotel I have stayed at, even better than The Broadmoor. The service was on point...we were greeted by a butler (Wil) who gave us every bit of information we could want about our stay in Charleston, and his suggestions did not disappoint. We were greeted with a cocktail for my husband and I, mocktails for the girls, plus chocolates, and there was a bottle of wine AND a full, complimentary mini bar with local snacks and sodas and water. The beds were very comfortable, the room was clean and they had umbrellas available at the door, which were definitely needed. It's located in the French Quarter. Tons of restaurants and attractions around. We liked Magnolias and O Bar. If we come back to Charleston I would be thrilled to stay there again. The Spectator was probably the best hotel I have stayed at, even better than The Broadmoor. The service was on point...we were greeted by a butler (Wil) who gave us every bit of information we could want about our stay in Charleston, and his suggestions did not disappoint. We were greeted with a cocktail for my husband and I, mocktails for the girls, plus chocolates, and there was a bottle of wine AND a full, complimentary mini bar with local snacks and sodas and water. The beds were very comfortable, the room was clean and they had umbrellas available at the door, which were definitely needed. It's located in the French Quarter. Tons of restaurants and attractions around. We liked Magnolias and O Bar. If we come back to Charleston I would be thrilled to stay there again. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Charleston. The service was amazing and the amenities were great. My daughter and I went to Charleston for a 3 day vacay and the Spectator was a gem. Staff and breakfast were great. Lobby and lounge was very pretty. I liked that you needed key to use elevator, not everyone does this today and it def is a bit more security for guests. Close to king street and walkable to college, rainbow row and many other attractions. We chose to park our rental car less than a block away which was half the price of hotel valet just an fyi…I will def be staying here again asap.

We parked in the garage around the corner at $20 a day and was able to walk to do almost everything the entire stay because the hotel is at a great location. You can walk to the market 100 feet away, carriage tours a block away, the old exchange 5 blocks away, or restaurants a block away. If you’ve never been to historic Charleston, parking is the biggest headache. If you stay here you can eliminate the majority of your headaches by parking in the garage and walking everywhere. This hotel gives you a butler which is cool! They’ll help you with just about anything you need to know. I even had them fix an issue with the tv remote and bring us up two diet cokes in glass bottles at 11:00pm and it was no problem. It doesn’t look and feel like a traditional hotel- it’s pretty trendy and updated in decor. You’ll love it!

This was one of the most outstanding properties I have ever stayed at. We went for my husband’s birthday, and he had the best time. He did not want to leave! The service was top tier; it will be hard to beat them. Chuck was an outstanding butler and really made our stay an absolute joy from the moment we stepped into the hotel. The location is very walkable to a lot of main tourist spots and there are plenty of options to eat. The lobby bar is beautiful and a nice way to unwind before heading to bed. The complimentary breakfast was delicious as well. I highly recommend choosing The Spectator for your stay. We can’t wait to go back!

It was good….not great. Neat bar, but bartender is grumpy and make you feel that your inconveniencing him by ordering a drink. Also, last call at 10 pm seems odd for a hotel bar. Breakfast was terrible, don’t eat there.
