My wife and I loved this place and we will definitely be staying there again anytime we come back to NJ. We used to live in Bloomfield NJ but now we live in Southern California, and I had to get a place for a work trip. We stayed here one night in “Steve” and one night later we came back and stayed in “Duke,” which was our favorite of the two. Super clean, upscale, and the free wine at 5pm was a nice treat. Parking was easy, and we highly recommend this spot.

Trip for 2 for overnight at The George to visit family in the area. Very comfortable and cozy accommodations. Small boutique hotel that was not fully occupied during our stay made us feel like we had the place to ourselves. Relaxing communal sitting room with fireplace. Comfortable bed. European breakfast. Would stay again.

My husband and I went to WWE Summer Slam & needed a nice hotel away from Newark! This hotel was the best- staff was so helpful and sweet and welcoming. We stayed in the Jen room and it was so comfortable, and homey!! We loved the candy closet, the library room, the gym & the breakfast service!

This was a very charming and hospitable hotel. It was quaint and cozy. The lobby area by the fireplace was very inviting. The rooms were clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was varied with enough to start our day with. Love that candy closet! Ice cream treats were a nice touch as well. The staff was very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

We are locals and stayed here after date night. It didn’t feel like a hotel at all. Felt like I was spending the night at a friend. Very warm and “homie” type feeling. Clean and plenty of parking. Just park and either walk to local restaurants or a quick Uber ride to avoid paying for parking on or around Bloomfield ave.

We have stayed at The George many times and it’s always a pleasure. Every room is unique. The included breakfast is great. They have a social hour each night with wine in the library. The neighborhood is perfect for walking and close to downtown.

We booked a last minute reservation at The George due to a power outage at our home (we are local), and they were able to accommodate my family and our two dogs quickly and seamlessly. The check in was quick and easy, my teenager LOVED the candy closet on the first floor, and our room was blessedly cool and comfortable. When we had an issue with the television, the staff member instantly arrived and resolved the issue. While we didn't take advantage of the offered breakfast, we will be sure to do so next time.

This is a nice, unique, quaint property. It's clean and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. It's quiet and clean. The rooms are quirky with their names and just the right size. Check-in is a breeze. I'd come back in the future in a heartbeat. One of the best hotels I've been too.

This is our second time staying at The George. We felt welcomed and safe. We LOVED it the first time so, of course, we had to make another visit. Unfortunately, this trip wasn't the same. Our bathroom smelled wet and as if it wasn't cleaned properly. Some of the towels had a brown stain and a peculiar smell.

The George is a true luxury boutique hotel perfectly located in Montclair, NJ with easy access to Newark, NYC, and other areas throughout northern NJ. The lobby is beautifully inviting with a living room area and fireplace, honor bar, and a variety of snacks. The staff are extremely pleasant and professional. Rooms are exceptionally clean and well appointed, and interestingly/appropriately decorated. Each room has a touch screen tablet to access room, hotel, and area information and other reading material. The bathroom was clean with very nice soaps and shampoos. Most importantly the shower was hot with more than adequate water pressure! Lastly comfortable pillows and quilts on the bed promoted a good nights sleep. I highly recommend this hotel!

We liked the style... mixing industrial in an older mansion. Ive stayed in many hotels in my travels and for the money, i did not think it was worth it. The rooms were manhattan style small. No closet (just a bar to habg things). No chair to comfortably sit on (a metal desk chair only). Door to tha bathroom would not shut. Location was great. Good complimentary breakfast. People were very friendly. Candy closet was fun. Lovely library to sit and read

How many hotels which purport to be high end give you a room with no closet and no drawers? None in our extensive travel experience in the US and abroad. Fortunately, we got our room changed when we complained but it was not done graciously or with apologies. We were initially told that it was true of all room but somehow there was one that did have both! Not that the new room was without fault…. Like an AC system that had to be turned on to “cool” by the front desk and didn’t cool the room adequately. Like no sugar or stirrer with the Nespresso coffee maker- “Oh, you go to the basement breakfast area and bring them to your room”. In general, the staff was barely engaging. Never saw a smile or made to feel welcome.

Impeccable service. You will not find a better staff! So accommodating and helpful. However I prefer a hotel. This has more of a bed-&-breakfast vibe, which is not my cup-of-tea. Bathrooms way too small and the walls are paper-thin, so you can hear conversations from other rooms.

Lovely hotel in a town that needs more good places to stay! Staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. A few small kinks to be worked out: no hooks for robes or towels in bathroom; shallow, slow-draining sink; no bedside power plugs. But clean, nice, quiet - definitely top pick in Montclair.

Beautiful property in the heart of Montclair. Room is wonderfully decorated and warm and cozy. My fireplace was the highlight. The morning breakfast is top notch……a continental style buffet on steroids with only top quality pastries, vut fruit, yogurt and granola bar, cured meats and cheese etc. Highly recommend. Will be back.

We stayed at The George over a weekend visit to our son and his family who live nearby. The hotel is located in a residential corner of Montclair, easy walking distance to the Montclair Art Museum, Van Vleck Gardens, and restaurants. The decor is eclectic but cohesive and charming. We had a spacious corner room that was very comfortable and inviting. The breakfast offerings are excellent. The sitting room invites lingering with its gas fireplace, comfortable seating, and games. We are likely to return in future.

What a dream! I stayed here with 3 girlfriends for a mini one-night birthday getaway and we felt so well taken care of from the moment we checked in. It’s all in the details - lovely lobby entrance with grand staircase, free access to a nostalgic snack closet and ice cream, wine hour, and the most delicious breakfast that was all included in our stay. All this plus the room itself is tastefully decorated and spacious (we stayed in the Isaac). I can’t wait to come back soon when I want to feel like I’m not in NJ anymore. Location also can’t be beat - somehow the George is tucked away in the most quiet and quaint part of town, while still being walkable to many shops and restaurants.

This was the perfect spot for a ladies night! The historic building is absolutely stunning with modern amenities. We had tickets for a show in the city, and were able to get there and back without any fuss. In the future, whether it's spending time in Montclair or back in Manhattan, I won't hesitate to book the George.

This was a very lovely hotel that is in excellent shape and kept up nicely. The town of Montclair is an idyllic place to visit for that Northeast charm and the George Hotel is the perfect place to stay.

Many things to like--an old, charming building with modern updates, super-clean and comfy rooms, and so on. The one weak point was a very disappointing breakfast buffet that was inferior to what I have had at Hampton Inn. No hot food, no meat, no fish, low quality cheeses, mediocre coffee--for the prices they charge I expect much better.

The property was beautiful and everyone we talked with said how great it was and that they come back time after time. My only issue is the value of the sheets and bedding. They crinkle due to lack of softness. We were in the very large family room on the 4th floor. We had two bed across the room from each other. However, all night we heard the other bedmates move with the sheets wrinkling like paper. One would think that for the price, the quality of the bedding would have been better. The guest service gentlemen we saw both days was very nice, welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast was a bit basic and offered nothing for someone with a gluten allergy. I might think about staying because of the convenient location, however for the price I might pick the residence inn down the street.
