Gateway To The Breaks Motel

Wonderful stay. Carl was extremely helpful with local info. Room was excellent. Small amenities included: Roku TV, ice for coolers, complimentary water, small bag of crackers and chocolate bar in room. Upper floor has a nice sitting area w/TV. Outside us a picnic area w/fire pit, grills, seating and horseshoes. If I'm back in the area of Breaks Interstate Park, this is where I'll stay. Period.

This hotel is my now pick. It is so relaxing,and very kid friendly. The staff was amazing. They have nice sitting area with firepit,cute lights all around,you sit outside and just hear the birds and creek water flowing. It is super clean. There no service there but they have great wifi router in every other room so you have good wifi and you connected and turn on your wifi calling it works just fine. We had amazing weekend and i honestly have to say this hotel made my weekend better and less stressful.

Convenient to Breaks Park. Manager Carl was super knowledgeable and friendly. Room was comfortable and clean. Convenience store across the road, no restaurant now but Carl said one opening soon. I would stay there again.

So close to the interstate breaks park. Gentlemen at check on gave us excellent recommendations and directions. Good internet. Super air conditioners.

This is a charming motel close to Breaks Interstate Park. The owner is very friendly and knows the area well. We stayed only one night, but if we had the time we would have stayed longer just for the super comfortable mattress and amazing pillows. The grounds are beautiful with views of mountains, the sounds of a nearby stream, picnic tables and a fire pit are a lovely way to finish the day.

This place is great! We've always stayed at Breaks Interstate Park, but this might be our new go-to. The common areas are really nice and the place is really clean and quaint.

Recently remodeled rooms new TV , frig, microwave. nice outside area for sitting one area had a hammock and lights nice area to hang out. Great service friendly staff.

Was hesitant booking as usually the hotels out in BFE are usually neglected. But I was Very WRONG. The owner and lady working there are freaking awesome! The grounds overall are clean and expansive. I did enjoy seeing the fire pit with the lights off to the right. The longing area up top with two TV and a fire pit was great. Rooms are clean and the beds are VERY comfortable. I’m glad I found this spot as comfort inn and suites used to be my go to. Not anymore. Keep up the great work! Also if you’re staying go support the local food truck. Dude is SUPER cool! And the food is pretty delicious.

We stayed at the Gateway during our Transam cycle trip. Owner was very helpful and we got a free upgrade. Not much facilities available, but that’s planned in the near future as we learned.

I had an excellent experience at this property. You can't beat the location, right next to Breaks Interstate Park! The property outdoor area is beautiful. And the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Older hotel - smells moldy.

Thought the room was not throughly clean. Dir ty floors, pillows need to be replaced, no mattress covers, bath area needs lots of improvement.

Great people, but the floors and tub were dirty. Some mold. Got decent sleep. Not noisy. Loved the fire pits and horseshoes.

The staff was very nice and the room looked updated. However, upon opening the door to the room I could feel the high humidity level. The humidity was so high that the floor had a film of water from condensation throughout the room. If you walked around without shoes, your feet would be wet. Yes, it had rained, but that high of humidity in a room is unacceptable. Also, one bath towel had holes and tears in it, but the towel was clean.

We loved the motel cat. The outdoor area was great. The staff was excellent. The only thing that could be improved is better shades to prevent the light from into the room.

A great place to stay that won't Break the bank. I'll be honest- I have a hard time reviewing hotels like Gateway to the Breaks because a five star review may create unrealistic expectations while a three or even four star review seems too harsh. The fact is that this is a basic hotel with very few amenities; they don't offer breakfast, there are no phones in the rooms, and the only fitness activity is if you have to climb the stairs to a second story room. That said, the WiFi is free and reasonably fast, the water pressure is decent if not exhilarating, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was clean and decently sized and the curtains did a good job keeping the light out. The air conditioner was more than adequate though the ceiling fan provided plenty of cooling by itself. I should also note that everyone I dealt with at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The real star of the show is that it is only about four minutes from Breaks Interstate Park, which is the only reason you would be staying at this hotel, either because the park's lodge was full or too expensive. So for what it is and where it is, it is a five star 2 star hotel. If you're used to the Ritz Carlton, you're going to be very disappointed; but if you are someone who worships at the altar of "we'll leave the lights on for ya", you will be glad you chose this place as I was.

They worked with us to change our reservation even though it was prepaid and past the deadline. Great location. If we go back we will ask for a room that is not by the stairs and patio..when people left at 6am every day they banged their rolling suitcases down each step.

The facility is old, but the owner has put in some upgrades, such as Roku TV. People talking in parking lot near room can be heard easily. Furniture is cheap, but serviceable. Mattress is comfortable. Not fancy, but adequate for an overnight stay.

Well I rented 3 rooms for me Nd my family as we had a death in the family so we needed aonethibg close. Staff was great so nice and friendly! Internet was put ( not hotels fault) but one of the rooms( 112) we rented did not have a shower head in the bathroom so my family members could not shower .I tried to talk to staff about getting some sort of discount for that HUGE incomveniance but I rang bell 3 different times and no one answered! So they just showered in my room (115) they have remodeled and the hotel is looking very nice. Other then that motel was ok.

The owners were extremely nice and hospitable. I arrived very late and the owner was very kind in getting me my room easily. It was a beautiful drive Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The owner also suggested a scenic drive for the following day.

Management went beyond helpful in making sure our room met our needs. They were exceptional in giving directions to the places we want to visit. Will book again next year if possible. Blessings.

Loved the staff! But they were buY doing motel rezervations so was difficult to xontact them .we had a deatg in the family i rented 3 rooms and room number 112 had no ahower head so my fMily could not take a shower i went to the front office rang bell but nobody ever came so it was a huge inconvenience my family had to shower in my room 115 . I felt they rented us a room that was not ready! Like i said its under renovation!

We drove up just after sunset, and the hotel was well-lit, lights strung up in outdoor areas. Easiest parking, and we walked into the office to check in — a lovely warm greeting from the desk clerk. We could see the security cameras on the tvs behind her in the office, it is clear that the whole property is monitored & very safe. It was a super fast check in, then up to our rooms. Mine was perfect, with towels on my bed and a couple of snacks & water set out for us on the counter. The tv is easy to link to my iPad, brochures on interesting activities in the area on the counter. Just a great set-up & great service. Friendly people. Full marks.

We never found a motel or hotel! We were on the side of a dark ass mountain with no cell service. There was NO LIGHTED PARKING OR SIGN! NOT AT ALL WHAT IS ADVERTISED

The property is in the middle of no where and we did not feel safe. When we arrived we felt intimidated and not welcomed. All we wanted to do was leave as quickly as possible.

I loved the homey feel of the place. It was quiet and the front desk lady (I didn't catch her name) was friendly. I didn't have cell service but I was in the mountains so I completely understand. I hope to stay there again.

The lady who checked us in the room was awesome! She helped us find a great little spot to eat in town and where everything was located at the motel! It was quiet and relaxing at the motel once we returned from town. Cell service with my carrier was horrible but that gave me a much needed break from it ringing.

the people were friendly and helpful. we were visiting family and this motel was the closest so we didn't have a Long drive. there are not many places to eat or shop. its kind of isolated. a very simple place

Not a lot of dinning options, Shower was nice and hot . The tub had a nice non stick floor. Bed was ok, Slept ok. Good for an overnight stay.

Very hard to find an acceptable meal close to this motel. We had a few deficiencies when we arrived but they were quickly addressed.
