Wonderful hotel. The restaurant was closed on Sunday, however, the bar had food as well as an all day happy hour with great appetizers and drink specials in a comfortable setting. The bar on the roof had food also and great views of the city. This hotel was beautifully restored/remodeled and is a pleasure to be in.

Really beautiful hotel with so many nice touches from the beautiful hardwood floors to exposed brick and wonderful showers with waterfall showerheads. Service was great and free shuttle was available in the area. Just take notw that they don't provide free parking so you'll have to use valet or park on the street.

Loved our two-night stay at The Charmant! Beautifully maintained historical building with so many of the spaces retaining original brick walls and wood floors. Our room was clean and comfortable. King size bed with ultra premium bedding. So close to the riverfront and park. The rooftop deck is a great place to have a drink (complete with fire pit and propane heaters for chilly nights). You can either valet park for $15/night or find free street parking. Just pay attention to the street parking hours to avoid a ticket.

Food and service in the restaurant was excellent. I normally eat off property but the restaurant was as good as any that you will find. My only criticism was that the downtown area was very loud with revelers and muscle cars racing around. The hotel could use better sound insulation.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Was a candy factory renovated into a high-end boutique hotel. The renovation kept MUCH of the charm of the old factory building. Huge rooms, rain showers with good water pressure, quiet. The restaurant was outstanding. I knew this hotel was perfect when I crawled into my bed and it felt like I was home.

The room was very very expensive and right across from the elevator. Several times people were using the elevator and talking loudly enough to wake me up. Including a staff person apparently asking if someone worked there. I think the check in staff should have told me the rooms location and it should have been less expensive. I didn’t ask for another room and didn’t realize how noisy it would be until late.

If you like a large room with lots of natural lighting you will like this room and bathroom. The is an old candy factory remodeled into a hotel with tons of charm. It is modern mixed with the atmosphere of a long-ago time period. I am really into this type of hotel. It feels like stepping back in time but with all of the benefits of todays like style.

Night clerk outstanding, valet staff wonderful, restaurant staff helpful and the food was delicious. Day desk staff were condescending and obnoxiously rude. They are openly fine with treating guests differently based upon certain prejudicial criteria. Rooms not up to standard, limited staff, long waits for easy room repairs. Not a Michelin Key level hotel and how they could get such a designation strains credulity and brings into question the entire Michelin rating system. Once a jewel of LaCrosse is now buyer beware as there are no standards of practice at this independent hotel.

Room wasn’t ready at the 3:00 check in. Was given two free drink tickets as compensation. Nice gesture but after waiting 15 minutes at the bar and not being waited on, we left the hotel and came back when our room was ready. Parking was a a hassle. Othewise, a lovely stay

Sometimes uneven service. In minor spots you could tell college town staffing and it showed in a sort of lackadaisical manner. But beautifully furnished, great housekeeping and the coffee and chocolates are delightful.

We've stayed at the Charmant several times, and it never disappoints. From the professionalism and friendliness of the staff to the quality of the food and the excellent condition of the rooms, the Charmant is the only place we choose to stay in LaCrosse. An added benefit is the proximity to the riverside park, which is a beautiful green space. On this trip, the valet parking (looking at you, Jackson) and the food service in the bar area were particular standouts.

The perfect stay! Large, beautiful room with a comfortable bed, wonderful rooftop deck for drinks and pizza, and a great location between the Riverwalk and historic downtown La Crosse. Highly recommended!

The Charmant is a great change of venue from the typical chain hotels. The restaurant is excellent, having more than routine menu choices and good service. The location is great, within a block of the Mississippi with a good river view to see the paddle-wheel steamships arriving at the dock.

I've visited La Crosse several times, but this was my first time at The Charmant, and I was not disappointed. Beautifully put together, the hotel and is guest rooms are a delight. Check in was easy, and staff were friendly. My only complaint is that my breakfast server, though nice, was a tad inattentive. I had to wait 15 minutes for my check, and I was late for my first appointment of the day. The food in the restaurant was excellent, though. I will stay there again.

The Charmant is in a former chocolate factory that has been beautifully repurposed, with exposed brick walls and factory signage throughout. The restaurant was a highlight—we loved the cauliflower risotto and craft cocktails. The staff was excellent, and the hotel is only a block from a park fronting the river. I would come to LaCrosse for the express purpose of staying here again.

The room was expected to be beautiful with the exposed brick, however we had a huge white washed beam that ran the ceiling and most of the wall. It ruined the aesthetic and the whole mood of being there for a birthday. The restaurant was mixed quality. The drinks were quite bad, the appetizer and soup were decent, and the entree was outstanding. This mix in quality made the experience somewhat blah. Coffee in the morning was outrageously overpriced with the “free coffee” tokens good for a hot coffee or $1 off others. Getting a free coffee or $3-5 off would be reasonable. We spent $12 after discounts on two iced coffees which were very average. It was a neat experience overall and the place had a ton of character, but so much fell flat for us.

The hotel was beautiful. Derek at the front desk was very professional and accomodating. Bed was very comfortable, shower was excellent. The bar was warm and inviting. Our breakfast was one of the best we've had at any hotel we've stayed at, compliments to the chef!
