Room was dirty. Shortcuts all over the place. Dirty linen shoved under mattresses. Lobby doors didn't close. Carpets and all over location was unkept and dirty. Staff was left undertrained and no manager on site or on call.

At first glance we were excited for our stay. Once we got settled in our room we walked down to see the pool and arcade area (which was the whole reason we picked this hotel, my son was excited). The pool looked nice until we realized the ceiling was leaking into the pool and it was later closed, we moved on to the arcade and the change machine wouldn’t work and the few machines that took dollar bills ate them. We went to the desk to ask for change and we were made to feel like an inconvenience. I understood that staff may have been overwhelmed with the amount of people complaining about the pool and other problems, so we went back to our room only to find one comforter had a huge brown stain on it, there were stains on the floor (one looked a little like blood) and hair still in the shower from the previous people. The shampoo was out in our room and for some reason it was so humid in our room, even with the air on it felt wet in there. The bathroom had no exhaust fan and was at least 10 degrees hotter than the room at all times. The free breakfast was supposed to be until 9 but they don’t add anything after 8 and were unplugging the warmers at 8:30 while people were still coming in to eat. Food was typical hotel breakfast food, nothing special. If you have gluten or dairy intolerance there will be nothing for you to eat so make sure you bring something or just expect to have old fruit. It is close to holiday world which is why we went, but we will not be staying here again.

The check-in process is broken here - despite paying and reserving in advance we had to re-enter all our information in. There were two staff members but only one used the computer. The phone rang continually and went unanswered. The hotel is worn - the toilet seat was cracked, the carpet has long runs in it, and the mattress cover was torn and tattered. Surfaces were clean and usable, they just needed maintenance. Humidity and water damage was concerning - the room we were in was perpetually damp after showering, and the carpet was soaked in front of the AC unit by the window. There was water damage in the shower above the showerhead. The pool was closed due to a huge leak in the room above. Most concerning to us was the lack of professionalism from the staff. There was no one at the desk for checkout while we sat and ate a little bit of cereal for 15 minutes. The night before a staff member was asked basic questions by a guest about a refund due to the pool being closed, and was told ‘I have no idea how to get you a refund.’ Another guest asked about moving rooms and was told ‘why would you want that? I can’t do that you already checked in..’ Breakfast coffee was awful from an instant machine. Breakfast had no fresh fruit, eggs, or bacon. It did have waffles, juice, cereal, and milk. We just left and ate in town. In the future we will lodge in Jasper, Indiana instead of Ferdinand when visiting Holiday World.
