Cuttle Bridge Inn Hotel - NEC / Birmingham Airport

Picked it because it was close to the NEC, cheap enough but rooms were awful. The actual location is beautiful, on the canal with a nice beer garden. The food is really nice, the rooms ruined the experience. My advice… Restaurant = yes Location = yes Rooms = definite NO

Bad points, Party of some description on Saturday night ( I was made aware this could be a possibility on my conformation email nothing before) . Loud music until 00:30 general party atmosphere until then shouting, smoking and messing about right outside my window Very dated decor, completely unsupportive mattress, could feel every spring literally laying on the base. The walls are paper thin and every single floor board was creaky so you could hear everything one someone went to the toilet or left the room for a cig. The whole place smelt of damp Did not sleep welll here at all. Good points, check in was quick and easy, very friendly staff, bed made and towels changed daily . The setting is gorgeous right next to the canal with views out over some farmed land.

The hotel was pleasant and the checkin staff were nice. I was charged £10 to park overnight which I hadn't spotted when i booked. The room was fairly basic, but clean. I was staying for work and so needed to sit at the desk all evening however the seat was a solid wood stool so i had to use a pillow to make this usable. I ate in the restaurant in the evening and gad a very nice meal. I paid extra for the breakfast and it looked ok, however it was cold. The only coffee was podwered instant coffee sachets, so I paid £14 for a small yoghurt and glass of orange juice!!

I requested to change to a room on the other side of the building away from the street due to extreme traffic noise. Rooms are very basic and in need of updating. Mattresses are very inexpensive and old. I was very surprised to find out that there was a 10 pound per night parking fee. Full English breakfast the next morning was very good. Book at the time of check-in for a discounted rate.

so parking to start £10 as i booked thru hotels.com free if i had booked direct with the hotel ??? why ??? no air con ! no fans available! advised to open my window ?? next to a busy duel carriage way ? noise all night i don't think so bathroom shower difficult to operate as very stiff controls silicon coming away from joints rusty mountings for shelf toilet roll holder broken and 2 rolls shoved on bracket to cover it up over all needs a dam good refreshment cutlery covered in cobwebs on tables outside and dirty fork in the pot sauce sachets stuck together yuck

A private party was on with the disco music and all the guests outside our ground floor bedroom window shouting and singing till 01.30 . Wall paper peeling off bedroom wall, stains up wall from liquids thrown up wall. Large stains on bathroom ceiling from a previous leak, curtains hanging off the rails unable to close properly, not good with party on outside the window, although coffee/tea supplied, no saucers supplied for the cups and no teaspoons to stir the drinks. Not informed that it was £10 to park the car for the night in the pub car park until we arrived and parked the car there and checked in

Really surprised by the hotel when I arrived the lovely setting next to the canal, nice bar restaurant. Rooms are adequate for a business stay. Bed was slightly form for my liking but that is personal preference. Would stay again when in town for business

Ideal for a one or two night stay, plenty of free parking. an adequate menu with very friendly staff they couldn't do enough to please. For the price paid this hotel was one I can recommend.

The staff were lovely but I would never book again because of the separate charge for parking. The car park is absolutely not worth it and wish I had moved onto the road or not stayed.

Our stay was very short, we checked in at 9:30 and left at 10 because the room was filthy dust everywhere, rust in the bathroom, bed sheets were dirty

Not clean (water on floor in bathroom), mould in shower, dirty, nothing like the front of the property. Rooms are so tired. Loud music until gone midnight. Was offered another room and that was even worse. Would of gone elsewhere if wasn't so tired. One of worst places I've stayed in awhile. Really disappointed given the look of the front.

The entrance and communal facilities down stairs were fine. Clearly the upkeep of this hotel has been focussed on the restaurant bar and function area. It looks refurbished. Comparing this to the rooms and corridors to where you sleep is another world. The room has insects on the window sill, a big squashed spider on the wall, tattered fittings and furnishings, shoddy and ugly fix to the architrave mould across bathroom tiles, dusty, rusty old and horrible. This place needs a hand. No hairdryer and no spare loo roll, just a half one left from previous. Care has not been put into the rooms, despite desperate need for renovation it starts with doing your best for customers and this was disappointing. If you didn’t go near the rooms i’m sure you’d have a nice time. An additional shame was the extra fee for fresh coffee, i’d have been happy with filter but only available in breakfast charge was instant.

Very disappointed, the room was dated and dirty, the carpet was filthy and even had an imprint of an iron on it, the bed was awful, every spring in the mattress was broken not to mention the stains.

Booked for a supreme double but was given an at best an average double room with a skylight window which you could see out of. Arrived and no heating on in room. Mould on the tiles in the shower (bright white tile with black mould in the grout). Noise from the bar could be heard in the room and disturbed our sleep. The restaurant was on the other hand exceptional. Staff could not be anymore helpful and nothing too much trouble. Meals were great with great selections. Just a shame the room let it all down and limited parking when there was a function on, had to park offsite.

Rooms in a general state of disrepair. Bathroom had rubbish on the floor and a stench coming from the shower tray that filled the whole room if the bathroom door was left open.

Room was not clean had bottle cap on the floor and dust everywhere We had no loo roll had to go ask for it no spoon for tea and no sugar the bathroom smelt like drains the bed was not comfortable at all and the pillows were very hard I had 2 controls for the tv both did not work

Hotel was ok for what we needed. Food was good but rooms were a little tired. Bathroom was dirty in the shower.

There was black mould in the shower in the 1st room, which was around the whole of the bottom of the shower that was c.50cm high. It was fairly thick but I could wipe it off with my finger. After asking, they were happy to change the room for us, however we also highlighted that we had booked a king bed (but only had a double bed). FYI no rooms have a king bed, so the adverts for the inn are incorrectly listed. There was also dust all over carpet and walls (thick layer of old spider webs) in 2nd room (so at this point we started taking pictures...) Some further issues: •Shower door doesn't close properly (pic) •Radiator doesn't switch on or work. (blown fuse?) •Replacement electric heater had to be requested and eventually provided upon asking again which looks like this (pic) •Gap in the window (heard the road all night...) •Pillows are incredibly thin •Mattress is worse than one you'd have at home •The cheapest red wine at the bar is £20 but it retails at £6.95 online (https://albionwineshippers.co.uk/product/ca-del-lago-montepulciano-dabruzzo) •Tv remote didn't have a battery cover and the stand by, volume down and programme down buttons all didn't work •TV not a smart TV so can't cast (beyond freeview channels) •No hairdryer was provided To top it off, as we checked out, there was no hint of an apology for the inconvenience during our stay. There were some positives: Food was good (wings, kofte, chicken burger and nduja pizza) Shower temperature and pressure is good

The location worked well for us as a group of friends visiting family. We arrived and dropped bags and room looked basic but ok and didn’t spend any time in the room. We got back approx 10.30pm and then early hours heard a constant loud drip coming from the bathroom which we presumed was a tap. On closer inspection realised both the ceiling and floor were soaking wet so maybe the room above has a bathroom leak? Early morning tried to make a drink no milk so visited the restaurant area to get some and mentioned to the manageress that we’d had a bad night and were they aware of bathroom problems above us which she said not and we should of come out of room and told night porter but we wouldn’t of moved by that time anyway. Apart from the flood the shower had a lot of mould inside so not useable and then in daylight we could also see how dirty and neglected the rest of the room was too. On check out we explained we were not happy to pay full price for the sub standard room and we were told that it was only the GM who could make that decision and I left my number for when he came on duty later which as yet no call. We’ve stayed before and not had a problem so it’s sad to see it so neglected and we won’t book again

unfortunately the walls are paper thin you can hear the tv in the next room, when someone talks in the corridor it’s like they are standing in your room! Plus all the floor boards creak and make a noise when someone walks across them! So the guy next door turned his tv on at 2.30am and 4.am waking us up! We were ripped off for a “superior room” what a joke there was nothing at all superior about out room. The tv was standard size, there was only one chair, the pillows were ultra thin! On top of that I asked for no stairs to entrance room which are available but I was put on the second floor! On the plus side the staff were generally friendly and we found the food for dinner very good, and breakfast was decent. Lastly I also found the “rule” no food or drink in your room a very outdated concept and very odd! We always take snacks and some extra booze for a nightcap which should be totally acceptable to any decent hotel. Management could also manage the no soundproofing of the rooms by leaving rooms empty next to occupied rooms when they are not full, when we stayed they were not full! We left early and it was partly due to the lack of sleep and the bad weather.

This rating is based on a 1 week stay as a hotel guest. I did not use the event or restaurant facilities. This is the most uncomfortable and disappointing hotel I have ever stayed in. The pillows are maybe an inch thick. I got an attitude thrown my way when asking for extra pillows. Which were probably an extra inch thick. The bed is thin and you can feel the springs. The housekeeping just leave towels they don’t even clean the toilet or shower (which has black mold growing). The vending machine stole my money and they said it’s not theirs so they can’t help. Hairs on the sheet. People are constantly smoking so it makes your clothes smell, I think the housekeeping smokes tbh. When we would come back there would be towels in our room and it stunk of smoke. The staff were overall rude, except for the couple people who work the bar area (I only used it to buy a water for medicine). The walls are thin, wifi is garbage, rooms are old, outdated, and uncomfortable. Location was good but that doesn’t make up for the rest. I do not recommend.

Staff were lovely and bar restaurant was great. The room however was awful. Room located on the busy corridor but could hear every person walking by on creaky floorboards and slamming doors like they were in the same room also same for noise outside the property in the beer garden which kept us awake and hard to fall to sleep. Room not very clean either / stained towels given. Bed we’re ok not very comfortable.

The main thing that lets this hotel down is the poor sound insulation between rooms. If you are not desperate for a quiet night's sleep, it is fine, but the noise from above and adjacent can be annoying. Otherwise, just a little bit more attention to detail would go a long way.

This is by no-way a staffing problem. The hotel unfortunately is adjacent to sewage works, it’s mid-summer and therefore it truly does stink. Then we get to the hotel - well ignore the term ‘Superior’ when it comes to the room’s description. We had a skylight window, this could not be opened, it was the only air source in the room. There wasn’t any fans available at all. I’m not sure the room is even legal. The bed was just awful, likely about 10 years old and seriously worn. I don’t know where to start with the bathroom. It could best be described as ‘seriously uncomfortable budget room’ certainly not ‘Superior Double’ - however, the staff are lovely, friendly and clearly their nasal receptors have been destroyed by the constant sewage smell. I feel for them, they are given a terrible collision of factors to deal with, yet they do it with good humour

It was a shame but the mattresses were not good and one was very lumpy

We had a lovely cannal facing room which was a lovely veiw but believe a bit of investment in the rooms to make the bed and pillows more comfortable and freshen up a bit.for a nights stay to visit the NEC the hotel served it’s purpose.

The staff were really kind and helpful! Lots of great banter and comfy sleep. The food and beer were the bomb diggity as well.

Our access card to room only works sometimes, we had to wait for ever to get checked in. The accommodation staff were more interested in pouring beer than assisting us with checking in

Checkin staff were very helpful and pleasant. Room was warm, clean and comfortable.

Staff member at check in was miserable and rude. Would rather stand outside smoking than check in a guest. Same member of staff there again in the morning. Was miserable then as well.

Worst hotel I ever stayed at. The first room they put me in stank of damp and smelly feet, really strong. The window lock was broken (or had been fixed shut) so it couldn’t be opened. Staff were brilliant, did what they could to move me to the only other available room. That also stank, this time of scampi fries and the bathroom ceiling was covered in mould. Window could be opened but was right next to a duel carriageway so I didn’t sleep a wink due to the traffic noise. I was supposed to be there for 3 nights but I couldn’t take it any more so I asked if I could check out early and get a refund for the remaining 2 nights, due to the problems faced. I spent most of the day trying to get hold of someone in head office. Eventually spoke to someone in the central reservation team who was as much use as a chocolate fire guard. I was told “what do I expect from a 3* hotel.” I was shocked, what a terrible attitude. The room with the mould on the ceiling is inhabitable, even if it was a 1* hotel. I went back to the hotel in the evening and again, the staff were amazing. The lady rang around the sister hotels and eventually found me a room 20 mins away. She was willing to go the extra mile to help me. Food in the restaurant was also shocking. Meat and potato pie clearly warmed in the microwave, was disgusting.

A gem of a place if you’re exhibiting/ visiting the NEC/ Central BRM & the surrounding areas. Really easy & close to everything - should you drive I might add. Shame the weather wasn’t kind this time, as the view is beautiful outside the hotel! Overall really impressed, spacious, clean & cosy rooms. I didn’t need to go anywhere else for food as everything I ordered over my 6 night stay was excellent & super value for money. Staff were lovely & helpful, they make you feel really welcome & nothing too much trouble. I will definitely be staying again. I hardly ever write a review, but I felt this hotel definitely deserved one! Great medium budget 3 star hotel. Highly recommend

The food was good as was the reception service. We were given roon 2, which was ground floor and seemed to be for disabled people. Decor was tired but just needs refurb, but very clean. We were there for the golf at the Belfry which was 8mins so great for that. I would recommend.

Hotel is a little tired. In the 2 times I have stayed there, the showers are needing cleaned up and repairs done. Door hanging off, shower constantly dripping etc. Could also do with a higher level of cleanliness. Having said that, the location is great and convenient with the canal but not so much with the sewage treatment plant nearby.

Had a pleasant stay for 2 nights. The location is good, situated near enough to main routes but in a quiet area. The hotel is next to a canal which was pleasant. My room was spacious, clean and tidy, enough for what I wanted. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall I feel it was good value for a business/short stop.

It was ok and the food was nice but there was an awful smell coming from the locl sewage works which masked our stay quite a bit. The staff weren't that helpful but it was ok on the whole.

A simple hotel which did the job for a one night stop over. The restaurant was fabulous with exceptional food and service. However, beyond that, the hotel is very tired and although everything was functioning, it was worse for wear. The hotel warned me about their live music nights. The music itself was absolutely fine and bearable. However, the drunken revellers swearing outside until 1:45am did disturb sleep and unsettled my little boy. All staff were lovely (especially those in the morning who helped recover my little boy's teddy after we had checked out). Overall, a very mixed stay but largely did the job.

Tired rooms I’m not surprised though - I’m sure this brewery owned pub does so much money in the summer they don’t have to worry about anything else. Right by the canal. Moved from the first room as it was road side. Second room was better but you can still hear people in adjacent rooms/upstairs. Evening meal was good - breakfast was terrible but I left it late and the buffet had obviously been out for a long time. The only thing that was anywhere near edible was the toast you do yourself. Couldn’t even cut my bacon ! Seeing as last week I was in Cornwall spending 30% less on much better rooms there is definitely work that needs doing to get this up to scratch

Bed had a spring mattress which I didn’t find too bad but my partner woke up with a bad back. There were drip marks down the walls and the shelves in the bathroom were rusty. I just think for the setting it’s in these little things just make such a difference. Just not the best rooms really. Food was delicious and the breakfast was delicious.

It is a decent place but definitely needs an upgrade or refurb as it’s old fashioned and well worn. Very noisy on the roadside section of the hotel and with people talking in the car park up until gone midnight wasn’t great. Plenty of on site parking. Breakfast was limited and nobody around to order any fresh food. As I say it was OK.

The bathroom fittings were old and rusty, the shower head dripped and the water leaked onto the bathroom floor. The tv remote was broken and I gave up with it in the end. The floorboards creaked and the walls are thin. Only 3 hangers provided. Towels were clean. Breakfast was poor, some grey watery scrambled eggs, 1 manky fried egg left, watery mushrooms and fatty bacon. Toast was good though.coffee was instant coffee, no filter coffee.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was amazing and excellent value for money, especially the 241 offer. Drinks reasonably priced. Excellent location for the Belfry and the British masters golf. However the room cleanliness was very disappointing. Bathroom door was dirty so was the window frame and windowsill. The tea tray was dirty, hand print on the mirror. The room was in need of a upgrade.
