I liked the options of RV or cabins so close to Mt Saint Helens. Having a cafe onsite was a plus as well. The cabin could have used a bit of an air out, a bit musty smelling in the cupboards when closed up. But hey, was not looking for the Ritz and what we did have exceeded expectations! If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay there again.

The food offered at the restaurant was delicious. We ordered the chocolate chip pancakes for our daughter, the breakfast sandwich, and the chicken fried steak. We loved being able to order and bring it back to our cabin. The pool, club house, and gift shop were great. My daughter enjoyed panning for gems from the mining bags sold there. She also really enjoyed the layout of Cabin 13. The bunk beds were tucked away so she felt like she had her own little nook. Being 30 minutes from the Ape Caves and Trail of Two Forests was convenient. We definitely recommend staying here whether you pitch a tent, hook up your RV, or rent a cabin.

Perfect location on our way to Ape Caves. Lone Fir Resort is an adorable resort for campers or families like ours simply spending the night in a cabin. Playground was perfect for kids to play & get tired for the night. Sasquatch theme was intriguing for the kids!

The cabin smelled bad with musty, thick, smoky air. There was a pipe leak in the bathroom and a puddle on the floor. The WiFi is unsecured, so all your internet activity is exposed. The shower head is barely 5 feet off the ground - it’s so low, I had to squat just to get my hair wet. The smoke detector batteries were low and made a beep every 10-20 minutes. I left a message with the front desk about it 20 minutes after they closed (checked in 15-30 minutes before close) and never got any support, so I had to take the batteries out and sleep all night without any smoke detectors running. This was a $330/night room and not worth anywhere near that price.

My little stand alone cabin was ingeniously designed to have everything you’d need in just the right place. It was impeccably clean and cheerful. It was a little haven! I also enjoyed the restaurant. The mushroom and bacon pizza was wonderful. Tables were clean and the setting delightful. Wonderful server also. Great experience! The only word of caution: if you’re hoping to get guidance on hiking trails nearby the staff here aren’t very familiar with those and the forest roads are not super clearly marked. Also, there is no phone service and the wifi didn’t work consistently. All that’s fine if you know the area but if it’s your first time here and you need trail guidance, be patient and expect to need more time to find things.

Overall our stay was not great. When we got there the room was very musty and had an unpleasant odor. The room was okay but definitely wasn’t in line with the price we paid for it. The linens had a strong fabric softener scent and the coffee pot had old coffee grinds in it. The thing that especially made our stay not pleasant was feeling nickle and dimed every step of the way. We had to pay $25 since we came out of town and checked in after 9pm, which just included putting our key in an envelope. In the restaurant we met a friend for lunch and had to pay an $.80 fee to split the check—which was just annoying. WiFi was included in our stay but it was shut off the morning we checked out, which was incredibly inconvenient as there is no cell service so we couldn’t do simple things like use GPS to begin navigation home or be in contact with our kids. Our friends had the issue of their WiFi being shut off the night before.

It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth it!! Very clean, the property & the room. Loved having a restaurant here so we didn’t have to drive back into a town after driving for hours, and the food & staff were great!! The TV wasn’t working when we arrived & they came & fixed it immediately. Would highly recommend!

Very pleasant accommodation. Rustic but clean and nicely laid out. We were initially put off by the description as an RV/camping facility but stayed in a very nice cabin with full facilities (kitchen etc). Surprisingly quiet except for the AC - so loud we had to turn it off at night. One caveat - if you’re visiting to see Mt St Helens - this is the wrong side of the mountain - the north side is a view of the crater - this is on the south side.

A fantastic place to stay in Cougar! Extremely clean and very impressed with how up to date they were on everything. Room was perfect for what we needed. Host was very responsive at getting us checked in. The waitress/cook/bar tender deserves a raise! She was also training a new employee and doing it all on top of that. Full service gift shop literally has everything. Looking forward to coming back.
A fantastic place to stay in Cougar! Extremely clean and very impressed with how up to date they were on everything. Room was perfect for what we needed. Host was very responsive at getting us checked in. The waitress/cook/bar tender deserves a raise! She was also training a new employee and doing it all on top of that. Full service gift shop literally has everything. Looking forward to coming back.

It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth it!! Very clean, the property & the room. Loved having a restaurant here so we didn’t have to drive back into a town after driving for hours, and the food & staff were great!! The TV wasn’t working when we arrived & they came & fixed it immediately. Would highly recommend!

When I got to the location no one was available to check me in. Another guest was able to get ahold of someone to come to the office. They then pointed out the was a door bell and an envelope with my first name on it that had the key and information slid behind a wall hanging. Then they proceeded to act like I was supposed to know this. There were no signs to ring doorbell. I received no text with instructions about and envelope with my key and information.

The cabin smelled bad with musty, thick, smoky air. There was a pipe leak in the bathroom and a puddle on the floor. The WiFi is unsecured, so all your internet activity is exposed. The shower head is barely 5 feet off the ground - it’s so low, I had to squat just to get my hair wet. The smoke detector batteries were low and made a beep every 10-20 minutes. I left a message with the front desk about it 20 minutes after they closed (checked in 15-30 minutes before close) and never got any support, so I had to take the batteries out and sleep all night without any smoke detectors running. This was a $330/night room and not worth anywhere near that price.

Overall our stay was not great. When we got there the room was very musty and had an unpleasant odor. The room was okay but definitely wasn’t in line with the price we paid for it. The linens had a strong fabric softener scent and the coffee pot had old coffee grinds in it. The thing that especially made our stay not pleasant was feeling nickle and dimed every step of the way. We had to pay $25 since we came out of town and checked in after 9pm, which just included putting our key in an envelope. In the restaurant we met a friend for lunch and had to pay an $.80 fee to split the check—which was just annoying. WiFi was included in our stay but it was shut off the morning we checked out, which was incredibly inconvenient as there is no cell service so we couldn’t do simple things like use GPS to begin navigation home or be in contact with our kids. Our friends had the issue of their WiFi being shut off the night before.

The accommodations and staff were great. The cabin was very modern and clean. The onsite store had lots of souvenirs to take home and supplies for your stay. I liked the options of RV or cabins so close to Mt Saint Helens. Having a cafe onsite was a plus as well. The cabin could have used a bit of an air out, a bit musty smelling in the cupboards when closed up. But hey, was not looking for the Ritz and what we did have exceeded expectations! If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay there again.

We were there to climb MSH. It is the perfect place to relax before and after the climb. The restaurant is very good and the staff are great. If you’re climbing MSH, this is the closest you can get without camping.

We were initially put off by the description as an RV/camping facility but stayed in a very nice cabin with full facilities (kitchen etc). Surprisingly quiet except for the AC - so loud we had to turn it off at night. One caveat - if you’re visiting to see Mt St Helens - this is the wrong side of the mountain - the north side is a view of the crater - this is on the south side.

My little stand alone cabin was ingeniously designed to have everything you’d need in just the right place. It was impeccably clean and cheerful. It was a little haven! I also enjoyed the restaurant. The mushroom and bacon pizza was wonderful. Tables were clean and the setting delightful. Wonderful server also. Great experience! The only word of caution: if you’re hoping to get guidance on hiking trails nearby the staff here aren’t very familiar with those and the forest roads are not super clearly marked. Also, there is no phone service and the wifi didn’t work consistently. All that’s fine if you know the area but if it’s your first time here and you need trail guidance, be patient and expect to need more time to find things.

Perfect location on our way to Ape Caves. Lone Fir Resort is an adorable resort for campers or families like ours simply spending the night in a cabin. Playground was perfect for kids to play & get tired for the night. Sasquatch theme was intriguing for the kids!

Great location if you are visiting St Helens, Lewis River Falls and Spirit Lake (but do check which local roads are open). Resort has somewhere to eat and convenience store across the road. Only negative was cost of room. We are on a road trip and this was most expensive place we have stayed in in Washington (rest were hotels), I get supply and demand and there is little other accomodation in area but for me a little over priced especially with breakfast not included

We stayed there for our first two nights of our honeymoon and they had a restaurant right there that had an amazing bbq cheddar burger and their onion rings were yummy too... The bed was confortable and after my long hike in ape cave the second night felt so amazing.

The staff were extremely friendly, and we enjoyed our stay. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The spaghetti was so good 👍. I wish I had known to ask for additional coffee cups for our second day. Other than that, everything was great.

We stayed at one of the cute cabins. Nice with AC and hot water. It has microwave but no stove. Only coffee cups and no plates or utensils. They have a restaurant and swimming pool. Very convenient for climbing St. Helens.
