Don't let the photos fool you. TBH is stretching the definition of "luxury" to the absolute extreme. Dark, dingy, no staff onsite, an unmanned security desk next to doors which remain unlocked after midnight, paper-thin walls next to guests who were loud late into the night. The official website (brooklynhotel-nyc.com) purports to have a kitchen onsite run by two chefs with Michelin-star backgrounds, though it now appears to be permanently closed. The only vending machine is out of order. My room had stained towels and bedding, and the hose to the handheld shower head was rusted and broken open, spraying everywhere. But hey, for all its faults… is it at least convenient? Also no! ~6 minute walk to the A, but a 10 minute walk at least to hit the outskirts of the truly walkable parts of Brooklyn. The best I can say is that it had a bed. My travel plans changed such that I had to fly home a day early. I wasn't sad to leave.

There is NO parking. The photos are not what the room accommodations look like. They do not provide any cleaning, bedding, towels at all for the three days I spent there. The WiFi is attached to the television and when it goes out you’re unable to watch nor do they attempt to acknowledge/advise with apologies. The area outside the hotel is not maintained at all trash all over the place.

This place was not as advertised. The "lobby bar" looked like it had been robbed and everything was left vacant. The room was sub par at best. I had a leak underneath my sink that was literally gushing water onto the floor. It looked like this hotel was one night away from shutting down

Not a lot of attention to detail. Elevator felt bouncy and sketchy.

Room was huge and could be a beautiful hotel. Run down. Furnishings damaged & broken. Restaurant and bar not being used. No breakfast and vending machine was out of order.

The staff were very unpleasant. They did not know anything about rhe area and could not even give directions or advise on activities. The bathroom in the lobby is locked and yhe staff fuss to open it. There is no restaurant in the hotel. The wifi is poor The elevator makes a lot of noise like it is going to break

If you are looking for a low cost option that is relatively close to a subway line that will get you where you need to go, then this is a good option. The employees were very nice and the room was big and comfortable...however the tv didn't really work (it would shut itself off and then channels would not work) so that was a little annoying when I was in the room. Also, the elevator was not reliable at all...so I had to take the stairs up and down from the 4th floor...which I didn't love...but I didn't die so I guess all is well.

This place is an absolute dump. Do not be fooled by the photos. That was apparently all pre Covid. The hotel is completely run down, broken doors and disrepair everywhere. The elevator is sketchy and the inspector sign says “CEASE USE.” We checked out early and trying to get a refund.

Hard to sleep with the train constantly running. Elevator was broken and my room was on the third floor.

didn't like that it didn't look anything like the pics, hallways was too small, wanted to put us in a room in basement with no window (never ever had a hotel do that) too high price for what the hotel looked like, neighborhood wasn't safe ended up going into new jersey area to get a nice hotel for the same price or cheaper. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. no place to park your car, it was run down, the pic of front of hotel outside was cropped to where you couldn't see the whole front of building which when you pulled up was old, run down and bad looking

The room smelled strongly of carpet cleaner or some other cleaning chemical. The pillows were bunched up in stained pillow cases. The sheets were worn and shabby. The bathroom was not that clean. You get what you pay for here. The place needs a lot of care and is not receiving it.

I loved the room, cosy and new, we had everything like a fridge and a microwave, i loved the decor, simple but very nice and new, such a comfy space

I didn’t like anything about it. My room was dirty, had to ask for clean sheets which I never received. The room had mold which made uncomfortable to sleep. The bath tub has stains, and broken things in the room

Hand shower not working – I cut my finger trying to make it work. No extra blankets available in the room. The area was terrible – not the hotel admins' fault, though! Having to check in through a security glass (!) is quite telling about the neighborhood. The room was clean but I cannot say the same about the lobby area. Complementary bottled water would have been a nice touch. Overall, not a terrible experience, but at these rates I'd rather not return.

The listing on Expedia has this property at 3.4/5. This is deceiving as the hotel is in shambles. I was given a room that hadn’t begun cleaning yet, and after going back to the lobby to get another room, I was given access to room 412. The staff assured me it was clean, before going up the elevator that sounded like it could fail at any moment. The second room appeared to have been clean like they said, but it was still in poor condition. The door lock/latch was missing 3 of the 4 screws holding it on (signs of a previous break in.) The towels were stained, and the window’s rolling shades were torn and ripped. Shortly after arriving in the room I decided I was going to attempt a nap since I was tired from my travels, but before I could get in the bed, I felt something wet under my bare foot right next to the bed by the window. It was HUMAN FECES. We immediately packed our things and left the room. The hotel staff said I had to contact Expedia to try and get a refund since the booking period had already started. After a phone call to Expedia in the hotel lobby, the man at the front desk said that he had spoken with his boss and they were going to issue the refund. No money has been returned to me and the booking was canceled 5 days ago. Through email, Expedia offered a $78 credit for my $623.75 booking. That is not a full refund. Why is this hotel listed on Expedia at all? The way The Brooklyn operates is shameful, and no one should book Expedia for their travels.

I would not stay here ever again. The staff is unhelpful. The fire alarm went off for an two hours at 4 a.m. The walls and window are so thin that you can hear everything going on at all times. The room was dusty and not well cleaned. This stay over all was a nightmare.

Not very clean, staff mostly unhelpful, hallways smelled of weed, had to request towels, cups, etc. freezer didn’t work and in 4 days never got a room touch up.

On the surface the hotel looked modern and well maintained, but there were several important details that made the stay unpleasant. The bathroom sink faucet was literally hanging out of the fixture, it was functioning despite this. The bathroom light would flicker on and off randomly and the backlit mirror did not work. The bed had only one sheet (to cover the mattress, none to go between you and the blanket) and was missing several pillows. The room looked like it was likely very nice in in 2009, but had clearly been given the bare minumum upkeep since then. The staff was friendly and helpful, though we didn't interact with them much. Ultimately we needed the room for one night after a party, so it fulfilled its purpose, but would have been unacceptable for anything other that.

Property looked like it was in process of renovating. Clean updated rooms but lobby was not inviting. Rooms did not seem to have sound insulation. Could hear other guests and tvs like they were in the same room. Elevator was scary noisy.

When walking to the hotel, I had serious questions about whether we had made a mistake. The lobby was functional but nothing special; the staff was receptive. When we entered the room, it was a lovely surprise: the room was large and laid-out well, modern bathroom with a rain shower. It was definitely worth the price. We visit our kids often in Brooklyn and will return to The Brooklyn.

The room was sooo nice.

The hotel was in a less than desireable area, but that was the least of my concerns after seeing the property. My tv didnt work (and I was never moved to another room after being told I would). When I picked up the phone to call downstaris I was left with a receiver and a hanging chord that didn't fit or match the actual phone. The elevator showed no state inspection and made so much noise and rumbling that I opted to walk the 4 flights my entire stay. The rooms had no windows, my neighbor complained of roaches and clogged drains and when I left my clothes had a distinct rancid odor. Needless to say I will not ever return.

Check in was not good, staff wasn’t supportive, no towels in room, phone broken in room, no housekeeping. Would not recommend.

Checkin wasnt ready until 4pm. Room was dirty, had rubbish from previous guests, fridge full of old food and trash under the drawers in the bedroom. The lady at front desk was extremely rude.

Staff were unfriendly and short. They weren’t rude but they lacked any personality required for the industry. The room wasn’t cleaned the whole stay, I asked for towels twice before I got them and on the last day when I got the towels I came back to find my room door was open and probably had been for the whole day. Not good enough. Nothing was missing thank god but it could have been worse. I thought about reporting it to the man on the front desk but I saw no point in doing so!overall I didn’t have an unpleasant stay but I would book somewhere else.

When we came to to check in , our room was not ready and the desk agent could not give answer on why. Very dissatisfied and disappointed about the service from the hotel.

Hello didn't like that i had to wait 2hours to get my room when i called to make the check in at 11 am and didn' get in my room till 9:pm i don't think that is right at all for me or any body if they paid their money up front i drove 5HOIURS to get to NY and i wus very very out of it and got my room LATE

The staff is behind a glass window The front desk was unapologetic about not activating my room key and forgetting to get my deposit no customer service skills The room was nice but the smell of the cleaning product used was over powering The front door to the building should require that you use a room key to enter for the safety of those staying as mentioned front desk is behind a glass no safety for anyone else The elevator made a scary sound as if it was in bad condition there was no safety certificate I’m not coming back here again

The environment at the hotel entrance is terrible. It is a railway, a one-way street, no place to park luggage, and it is very unsafe! I didn't know this when I booked the room! I suggest that Expedia ask the hotel to display the external environment of the entrance

The hotel is on a highly trafficked street close to an intersection with two gas stations. The hotel could be better with a little effort. The location is close to many good restaurants and bars. The A train is nearby. Great for JFK and getting into Manhattan. The 4 and the 5 not far away. The bath mat had stains that meant it should have been thrown out. Some lights didn’t work in the room. It’s not terrible, particularly for the price; however, it’s definitely’under-managed’.

Location is just a few blocks away from the Nostrand Avenue metro line. Many little restaurants, cafes, shops up along the way. Accommodations were very good and streets less crowded compared to Manhattan. My suite room was great with nice firm pillows, especially for me with my CPAP machine which makes it helpful for the hose to my facemask. Refrigerator and microwave included. This is basically like a boutique hotel and they do not serve breakfast. Plenty of good places around to eat. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

The hotel itself was fine, no problems. However the area around it is very noisy and not the greatest neighborhood.

Good safe area, about a 5 minute walk to the subway, pretty convenient. Decently busy street at all hours, faces a high traffic road so you never really feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Hotel room was a little banged up, but in all the ways that matter (bed, tv shower, fridge, iron, even a microwave) it was solid, 4th floor was quiet. All around, you get what you pay for, which in NYC these days is excellent for a hotel especially considering how much every other establishment within an hour's drive/subway of Manhattan is charging these days.

The hotel was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Very quiet. The only negative would be that they don’t supply a bar, or a restaurant area.

Room was nice, clean and apparently recently remodeled. There is no breakfast or food service at all. Coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator in room, but i had to ask for more than 2 coffee servings for 3 day stay. There is a grocery store within walking distance. No maid service for my 3 day stay. Neighborhood is bad, but for the price good deal.

I felt unsafe in this hotel. There was extremely loud partying and weed-smoking until the early morning. I could not sleep through the noise or smell. The staff was not helpful when called on the concerns. I would not recommend this stay

The room was very clean and modernized! Ad said hotel had coffee and tea in common area and a restaurant neither of which is true. When I asked about the coffee in the common areas the front desk person said yes you bring down your coffee from your room and drink it in the common areas!

The photos from their website misrepresent this hotel. The lobby area may have looked like that when it first opened but it is very tiny and worn now. Also, they advertised a bar and restaurant area but when i asked about it the employee looked confused and said "no we don't have that". I said it shows it on your website and he said "well we used to but it's been closed for a while now". This was very disappointing for me. I had to walk through that area to reach my room and it was there but no food or alcohol - just empty. The room itself was just like in the photos. Very modern and spacious. Also, extremely quiet. You could hear no noise whatsoever. Even the heating system was extremely quiet. The room was also very clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was very nice. The magnifying mirror in the bathroom was broken and didn't light or stay up. Also, no instructions for the coffee maker. I could not figure out how to brew my coffee so wasted two pods and never got it to work. All in all, I got a great price for a Wednesday night and my stay was ok. I just wish the website didn't advertise something the hotel did not have.
