Hampton Inn & Suites Richmond - Downtown

There was no hot water and the toilet didn't work all that great. It took a while for someone to come to the front desk to check me in, and no one was at the front desk when I was leaving. The rooftop restaurant was closed, which was the main reason I wanted to stay.

Easy registration, and a nice, clean room with good beds, water pressure in the shower. Was nice to receive two water bottles and a bag of chips as a welcome. There was not always coffee in the lobby and the coffee in the morning was cold and bitter. Most importantly, the elevator system is not explained. Once in the elevator, there are no buttons for other floors or to open the doors. If you do not step out and the doors close, it is not at all clear what to do. The button for help is small and not easy to see. An elderly woman was stuck in the elevator and quite frightened by the experience.

an unusual sharing of a high rise with 2 hotels and a public entrance way. Front desk employee gave excellent service. the breakfast was below what i usually see in Hamptons. ran out of coffee, limited selections. very quiet until middle of night fight between 2 females in hallway. great location for touring the historic spots in downtown Richmond. Beds and room amenties very nice.

Unhappy that we could not park on the premises when we arrived. Either the garage is too small to accommodate all of the guests, or the roof top party guests, that was occurring that night, were also allowed to use the same garage.

Very convenient location. Easy to access parking and room floors once you figure out the system. Friendly staff. Rooms near new and in great condition. Only complaints: No way to provide fresh air to room--musty smell and seems very high humidity, my room was noisy from cable sounds and beeping noise--my room was near the elevator so that might be the source of noise. Parking places are very narrow with concrete pillars next to most of them. Our car was large and tough to get into parking spaces, and $25 per night parking fee seems too high.

Overall nice stay, kind of hard to find the lobby for check in.

The elevator system is absolutely horrible. Not easy to figure out and very time consuming.

The staff and the room were great. However the problems we had were with the other guests and non guests . One family on our floor had lots of kids . They let them RUN around the halls screaming and getting glitter everywhere for hours. Finally a little after midnight I followed the trail of glitter to their room and asked them to please quit yelling and running.. after some attitude the mom made them quite down . I saw them again the next morning and all the kids were still coated in glitter leaving trails in the elevators and lobby . The other problem was that the rooftop bar has changed hours ( and names) and the information in our email from the hotel was incorrect.. also when we did go up there for a drink around 9 they told us they were full and there were no tables for two and we could order at the bar and seat ourself along the wall.ok that's fine...However it took a while to get the bartenders to help us and once we finally got our drinks there was no where to sit with them. Then later we saw most of the people that had been taking up most of the space and tables at the bar leaving the hotel for the night. They weren't even guests of the hotel. You should have space for your guests not the public.

Property was old, cleaning was terrible - hair clumps in the bathroom, toilet seat had hair on it, tub dirty, bed had hair on it like animal hair and the bed was indented like someone had been laying on it. Carpet had stains, fridge exploded my cans of seltzer water I had put in there because it was too cold in the fridge but couldn’t turn the fridge temp up. Staff ran out of linen. Pillows didn’t have pillow covers and then the pillow case, they just had the pillow case.

Security non great - guest room floors accessible to all - no need to use your key card. People could easily have walked in off the street. Cleanliness - poor. Our sheets had not been changed from the previous guest though the bed was remade. When asked to remedy this, maintenance staff took over half an hour to bring new sheets and omitted pillowcases. Overall, a disappointing stay and certainly not worth the cost.

It was a meh stay. Unfortunately I caught the overstimulated version of one of the front desk staff. I understand it was a big weekend and they were busy, so I dismissed it. The room was surface clean and the couch was full of stains so I was not going to sit there. The office chair was full of dog hair. For the one night it was fine, had it been any other time I would have requested a different room.

I found dirty used underwear in my room along with used tissues.

Cleaning was substandard. Hairs in bathtub, no shampoo in shower (empty).

Sink was not clean.

The TV in the room did not work and there was hair on the walls in the shower from a person who previously stayed there

there were cockroaches in the room and inside the mini fridge in the room.

It took 30 minutes to check in which wasn't really a big deal, but when I finally got to my room on the 19th floor it was not the room I reserved. I reserved and paid for a studio w king bed and fold out couch into double bed on the corner. This was a small room w two double beds and that's it. So I try calling front desk and there is no answer. So I drag all my stuff back down to the front desk and there was no one there. I waited 20 minutes and still no one so I call the Hilton Corporate number. I was in the phone for almost half an hour before someone from the other hotel on site comes over and apologizes they put me in the wrong room. She makes me keys and sends me to a room on the 15th floor. I get there and the keys don't work. So I call downstairs and the maintenance man comes up w new keys and walked me to the room. I open the door and the room is already occupied. Keep in mind it's well after midnight by now and I just walked into somebody else's room by I am getting very frustrated by now. We go back down and I am informed there are no available rooms left at the hotel They had two openings that they weren't sure were clean. 20 more minutes pass and I am told the one room was cleaned, but not put back in the system for some reason. I go up to the room and it is the exact room I reserved, but it wasn't thoroughly cleaned. There was no tp in the bathroom, hair in the shower, at least it looks like they threw new bed sheets on the bed. There was one clean towel.

Large room, comfortable bed! Being on the 15th floor you would think you wouldn’t hear a lot of outside street noise but we did. Carpet in the rooms is old and needs replaced. Adequate breakfast choices.

The building was hard to find and there were two separate lobbies with minimal staff, so it made check-in confusing. The elevators were run by a system similar to an iPad and it didn’t relay when some floors were out of order. It made parking an ordeal. And our AC was busted and even after asking for maintenance, it was never resolved. The staff was polite and the rooms were spacious and clean, but the overall experience was lacking.

If you are in a room on the 20th floor you can hear a tremendous amount of noise from the roof top bar until 2am.

Large room

Very difficult hotel to find. Very spacious room with a great view and comfortable bed, but the bathroom door wouldn't close and the towels were frayed, showing its age.

Very bizarre layout and weird elevators. Walked in to a homeless person sitting in the foyer before checking-in. Unfortunately there were issues with the HVAC and I had to be moved to 3 different rooms to fix. The staff did great, but it was a bit frustrating. There is a nightclub up at the roof and one can hear the bass until 1am. The rooms were nice (all three of them).

Very disappointing stay. The WiFi was down the entire week of my stay. I raised the issue to staff and even reached out to corporate but nobody helped. There were no updates. Nobody followed up. I had to use data from my phone or find a cafe to get work done. Additionally, my bathroom had big cracks in the wall. I am not one to write a bad review after a hotel stay, but I paid good money and left incredibly let down. I hope Hampton Inn does better in the future.

My stay was fine, but in the 1st night, we were on the 19th floor and kept hearing the elevator all night making it difficult to sleep. We planned to leave the next day so we checked out. Due to unforseen circumstances, we ended up staying a second night. This time, we were on the 14th floor and the room was gorgeous. The only thing was I think we were either right by the heating furnace or something and it was loud off and on all night. Also, the parking garage is really really really tight.

Kudos to the hotel staff. The front desk clerk knew what he was doing and skillfully managed a small rush. It's always reassuring to be met by a front desk staff who are on top of things.

Everything was fine until early the next morning when the carbon monoxide detector went off. Multiple calls to the front desk went unanswered. We went to the desk in person to see if there was an emergency, but no one was present and phones were ringing off the hook. We wound up having to flee as we didn't know if it was safe to stay. Hard to recommend this hotel for that reason.

Let me preface this by saying the hotel was completely booked for a convention and they were extremely busy. However, we booked a room that can sleep four people, we had three, and there were only two towels in the room. When we called the front desk they said they were out of towels, but would put our room on the list to get some. We left to attend an event and got back late to our room. No towels had been delivered. When we pulled out the couch we found that there were no sheets, pillows, or blankets. The person at the front desk said they didn't have any and that housekeeping was not there. They rudely directed me to the lobby of the Embassy Suites, in the same building, and said I would have to go get them myself because no one else was working. The lady at the Embassy Suites desk was much more professional, gave us a set of sheets, but no pillows, blankets, or towels. She again took our room number and said we'd have towels in the morning. The next morning we checked with the front desk and there were still no towels. We tried breakfast and the coffee was out for over an hour. Luckily the Embassy Suites buffet was fully stocked and we were able to head upstairs to get coffee. Finally, around 10am, I passed a member of the house keeping staff in my hallway and practically begged her for one extra towel so we could all shower. My best advice, if you're looking to stay here, book through the Embassy Suites. The customer service was much better.

Nice, clean and convenient place to stay in downtown Richmond. Special shout out to the front receptionist. So friendly and helpful. Made late night check in so easy. Courteous and spent her time explaining places to see in Richmond. Day receptionist was awesome and very helpful. Overall, i am very happy with the customer service!

Other than miscommunication for checking in early everything was fine. The front desk person told me to call morning of reservation and ask for check-in early status it was based on availability. So I called at 10:30 am and the front desk person advised my room was in cleaning status and would be ready for early check-in in about 1 hour. We had to be in line by 3pm for an event so I wanted to check in by 1pm but we held off and did 2 pm check-in still early but not that early. We got to hotel and the front desk person said room isn't ready and he wouldn't be able to give us a timeframe but could be another hour. I told him the front desk person this morning said it'd was already in clean status and would be ready by 12 and now it being 2pm I'm confused. Front desk person stated he's the only one that's been at the front desk all morning and he would never say that and it's based on availability but then he checked the system again and now our room is ready now. So we got to check in early but there was a little back and forth confusion. Parking is easy scan hotel key and let's you park in the garage conveniently for a $25 fee each day. Great location tons of restaurants in the area and easy walk to the amphitheater.

Room was nice property needs work and couldn’t even check in at Hampton Inn. Had to go to the hotel next-door around the corner because there was no one at the desk at first we said OK. Things happen. Staffing is hard but then in the middle of the night, no one was there. And then again this morning during breakfast there was no one there. This is a nice facility but ran very poorly would not come back or recommend to a friend.

We stayed for the Richmond marathon and it located between the start and finish line. There are multiple dining options and the garage parking was easy. The staff was nice and coffee was available throughout the day.

This property is within walking distance of many clubs and dining places.

Convenient to the Allianz Amphitheater. Tight city quarters at entrance. Parking ok. Room was good. Clean, comfortably bed. Worth a stay and a shower after a hot sweaty concert!

The hotel was quiet Staff was friendly felt very safe with the doors locking after a certain time and having to use the key card to get back into the building kept unwanted drift raft out which was nice unfortunately the lobby was not air-conditioned properly and I was not informed about the upstairs barn restaurant in balcony being under construction prior to booking.

We loved the size of our suite, and it was clean. But our room was very hot and humid because our AC apparently wasn’t working even though we had it set on 64. The water in our room was scalding hot. Both mornings the breakfast area was opened up late which was inconvenient for one who is on a very tight schedule. The coffee the second day was leftover from the night before and COLD. Not very good choices for breakfast as far as a fresh fruit selection. Overall, for the price we pay we were very disappointed in this Hampton Inn and Suites

We were very disappointed in our Hampton Inn stay. We have always found Hampton Inns to be clean and the breakfasts tasty but this time it did not live up to standards. The toiletry dispensers in room were empty, there is a nightclub on top floor that caused our room to be super loud until 12:30, the breakfast was not well stocked.., there was not even water available at breakfast.

Great location for Brown Island concert. Room was clean. Breakfast was so-so.

when I arrived at the hotel, it was hard to tell the entrance. Once at the door I walked up and the doors didn't open, I arrived within the window where the doors should have been unlocked. I rang the door bell about 5 times, walked back to my car came back and still no one was at the desk to buzz the door open. Eventually the phone started ringing and someone came from around the corner. The next morning breakfast was not good. I have stayed in a Hampton inn, and no corners were cut. But this one the orange juice was watered downed, my oldest son pointed out that it tasted like water, and it did. I asked one of the ladies and she said they have to dilute the orange juice. The overall breakfast was very poor, when thinking of the other Hampton inns I have stayed in.

Room very nice, beds are a little firmer than I like but fine. Amenities are good, roof top bar is nice but wish they had a little more drink options
