Staff is mediocre. The renovated rooms are gorgeous and chic. They also have a blue led strip light above the bed. I loved that! The tvs are super big. The showers are broken or falling apart is some rooms. The beds are super comfortable 😍 😌 👌 BEWARE of the loud music at night time especially. You complain and the staff comes up and knocks on the door but when they leave the people turn the music up all night again. They just dont care. They change prices depending what person rents! Thats not right. Also the elevator got stuck. My boyfriend was stuck for a few minutes today

I stayed at the Umbrella Hotel in the Bronx last weekend. The price was affordable for New York ($133), and the room had a decent king bed, good heating, a refrigerator, and a Roku TV. No bugs, which I appreciated. However, several issues made the stay difficult. The windows were completely covered with decorative contact paper, so there was no way to see outside. The walls were very thin, and I could hear TVs and conversations from other rooms. There was a strong smell of smoke throughout the hotel, and doors slammed day and night. The elevator was out of service, though my room was only on the third floor. My room also had maintenance concerns: the smoke detector was pulled from the ceiling, there was a small hole in the wall, and the lighting was uneven. The bathroom light wasn’t near the mirror, and there was no closet or anywhere to hang clothes. Bedding included only a comforter—no sheets—so I was glad I brought my own. The biggest issue was the shower. The lever to turn it on was missing, so it didn’t work at all, and I had to wash up using the tub instead. This hotel is inexpensive, but guests should be aware of these conditions. I hope management will address these concerns for future travelers.

Hotel overall is good and clean only problem I had was there no ice machines that work they were all broken or empty so we had to buy ice and little fridge didn't work sooo nice ice or fridge to keep anything cool

No ice machine nor microwave to warm up food… no extra toilet paper in the bathroom. Kept having to get a new key. Overall enjoyed that I was able to smoke

We stayed in a room at the umbrella in the Bronx for 2 nights to be there on Jackie Robinson day at Yankee stadium. There are a total of 3 parking spots for everyone there. You have to be an excellent driver to get your car in and out from the tiny concrete backyard that reminds me of the shu. The place was disgusting, the walls, the floor, THE BED, everything smelled like doo doo, there was what looked to be spit or something else on just about every inch of the walls. Everything was sticky and gross. My girl anmd my daughter wanted to kill me, they wanted to leave and stay somewhere else and hardly slept while we were there. We had to buy pillow cases from a store around the corner, and sheets. Aside from a couple other ppl going to the game there was nothing but crack heads, junkies and prostitutes going in and out of this place 24/7. Out next door neighbor has at least a dozen different men come and go the first night, that we noticed. When you walk out of the place and take a right you are surrounded by people, none of them friendly to say the least. People fighting on the sidewalk, in front of the hotel. If you are not from the city DO NOT STAY HERE.

The location is in a shopping district near 3rd Avenue in the Bronx so you are literally near everything from the trains to the corner stores. Checking in was easy and the staff left me alone and didn’t bother for the most part. My shower head didn’t work unfortunately, room service has to be asked for instead of just performed and no microwave in the rooms or anywhere Aside from those negatives the cleanliness impressed me and with a vending machine in the lobby it was not to bad of a stay. In the BX of all places. It gets a thumbs up

It’s a pay by hour hotel and had a lot of people in and out. Area wasn’t the best. Only 3 car parking lot. Had to pay $20 in cash to check in and $20 in cash to park.

Very small room , no parking at location, very ghetto neighborhood and someone broke into my room a stole a football collectible I brought with me

Elevator was not working, had to walk up 6 flights of stairs. Room dirty even saw a roach. Requested money back or discount and was tild that there's nothing they can do all transactions are final and can not be changed. Very rude receptionist.

Umbrella Bronx is a 3-star hotel with 4-star reviews, but that was not our experience at all. Posted next to the check-in desk are the rates by the hour, along with a "no refund" sign and a "remove your skl masks" sign. Upon entering the room, there was a dirty t-shirt on the bathroom floor and no toilet paper. We tried to shower and the shower handle fell off in our hands. The curtains were ripped, there were cigarette burns in multiple locations, and the sheets had blood stains on them. The Expedia team was very friendly over the phone but unable to help us because the hotel manager (who was not on site in the 4 days we were there) would not authorize a refund. My standard for cheap hotels is somewhere to pee, shower, and sleep, and it couldn't even meet those expectations.

I wish i had took more pictures because this place was so gross and cringey. The rooms were dirty and when asked to change the sheets, they didn’t have any clean laundry for the next few hours. It smelled like old smoke and cat urine. The room looked used and the towels was on the side of the sink.

Noticed speckles of something on the ceiling, very noisy due to construction of some sort, my toilet seat had some stains on it I thought were strange and my bed comforter or the thick blanket had some burn holes on it. I really love the bed it is very comfortable and I slept really well despite the noise.

Burns in blanket and floor. Smushed roaches on the walls. Holes in ceiling and wall. Possible sex traffic/sex work hub. Asked for a refund.

The person occupying a room across from me played music really loudly and argued with someone in the room very loudly from my check In till 11 that night … nonstop. I think they were on drugs or drunk..had to be. I had to call the front desk to ask them to calm down. My shower didn’t work and I had no stopper for bath. I used a towel to keep water from draining. I couldn’t see outside my windows, the windows are wrapped. Once the noise ceased from my neighbors I slept comfortably. I was able to shop because of the retail stores right across the street. Would I return, no. The hotel is worth $80nightly and that’s bc it’s in New York. Where I live it would be worth $60nightly. However it was clean and the bed was comfortable beside the thin linen. For 40 degree weather I had to keep the heat on. The staff was accommodating and my stay was only for one night

First night was great. Nothing to say, I was so tired of my flight that I slept like a baby. Second night was not as great as some drunk neighbors across the hallway were being really loud, talking, cursing, slamming doors every now and then all night long.

The customer service was great. They even let us check in a a half hour early however. The location while it was close to the trains it was in a bad area. The first day we stayed in the room there were homeless people and crack heads everywhere lurking by the entrance and surrounding areas. We took Ubers to and from the train station. It didn’t bother me too much but it was scary and uncomfortable for my 16 year old daughter. The street noise and police sirens keep you up and the wells are paper thin so you can hear everyone’s rooms…. Also there is remodeling going on in the building so don’t expect to sleep in because you will wake up to the sounds of drilling and loud bangs. Doors. Slamming. We ordered uber eats the first day and then spent the second day in Manhattan. It’s about 48 minutes on train and the Ubers to and from the city were about 50-80 bucks. The king bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The shower had good hot water and came with some toiletries. Oh and there is only one elevator for the entire hotel. Downstairs has vending machines and while there are corner stores nearby I consider myself pretty “urban” but the area was a little too much even for me. Better to fly in from LGA because JKF uber is 100 bucks and train was and hour and 20 minutes. Brooklyn and Queens area and of course manhattan looked safer. Lots of uber food choices nearby.

I didn't like that the key to my room never worked and they always had to go and open the door for me so I could enter my room. Didn’t felt safe

It was terrible, no room service, they smoked in the hallways, the rooms, the lobby. The people that worked there were very nonchalant.

The room we had original AC wasn’t working right in room 403 (so clean) called front desk and he was such a sweetheart, when I went back to lobby the new room key was ready. Room 406 was so CLEAN!! Ice machine on the 5th floor wasn’t working, Thank god there was ice cups at the corner store. The location is amazing on 3rd ave. Parking also. Smoking or non smoking room. Vending machines had raw paper also 😂!!! I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN!!!!

I recently stayed at the Umbrella Hotel in the Bronx, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. Upon arrival, I encountered unhelpful front desk staff who seemed disinterested in assisting guests. To make matters worse, the room had leftover party favors from the Valentine’s event the night before, which made me question the cleanliness and attention to detail. Additionally, the bathroom's drainage system was poor, causing water to pool and creating an unpleasant experience. To top it all off, there was a noticeable hole in the ceiling, which added to the overall sense of neglect in the room. I expected much more from my stay and left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

The staff was helpful. Working the tub was confusing but the room was clean.

Poor customer service . First they game a a smoking room thr heater was not wrk. It took thr 1 hrs to change a Rolm fr me and the receptionist was very not helpful. He was unbothered

The man that took care of us was so rude! He was ride on the phone and then he was rude while we were there. He also gave us a room key that didn’t work twice and shower was broken.

Staff barely spoke to us, no parking though website said there was. Elevator broke with me and my 3 year old in it, lobby staff eventually got us out and didn’t even say anything to us when the doors opened. Not at all family friendly.

Despite all the negative reviews, this place was absolutely fine. We didn't feel unsafe, it wasn't loud . The mattress had some wear and tear, but the room was clean and affordable. Other than the location (not much around, gotta train for 30 min at least to get anywhere), we had a good stay. If the "rent by the hour" scares you, I ensure you sex workers operate in regular hotels as well. It's not that frightening

It needs to be clearer on your site what kind of hotel this is. This is not the kind of hotel tourists visiting NYC should stay at. It offers an hourly rate for a reason. However, we booked sort of last minute, the pictures on the site made it look nice, and we didn’t know the area. The walls had stains, the carpet was stained, the shower knob was hanging by a thread. No water provided. No hangars in the closet. No iron, which stunk because I brought a dress shirt to wear to a show. There was an empty pill bottle under the bench. Other than being close to the subway, this was not a pleasant experience

Room was adequate without knowing the area. Not a great area for out of town tourists. Limited restaurants with seating. Very filthy streets and neighborhood. Was not aware until our arrival of hourly rate option when making our reservation. I would not have made a reservation for this hotel just knowing this.

This property is NOT for people out of town/tourist. Very much for New York City individuals who jst want a place to sleep or hang out. Area around property felt unsafe due to unclean individuals around. No hot coffee whatsoever on the premises. The store is 2 blocks away.

Drinking water was not provided.

The lock was broke. The ice bucket had cigarette burns. The ice machine didn't work. The sheets were dirty. No chair. Free breakfast on the website. Not at the hotel. Not even coffee

The receptionist was untrained and unwelcoming. The carpet in the room was not clean and had many stains and burn marks. The bed sheets were not fresh. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, and i had to ask for it. There was no microwave in the room and no kitchen in the hotel to heat up food. The tiny closet didn't have a single hanger. I asked and was told they don't have hangers! I didn't see the presence of security. The neighborhood is not great, however, there are decent shops around, like Burlington, Marshalls, etc.

You can’t get a cup of coffe, housekeeping hanging out of the lobby, no water no breakfast very bad hotel.
