It is a great base for starting your Skye adventure. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are clean and comfortable (not fancy, but all you need for a night). Nice bar, nice hot breakfast (only goes til 9am though). You can walk to everything in Portree. Be aware there is no elevator and you have to park about 1/4 mile away. But all in all, recommend and would stay again!

It was very clean for quite an old building. We booked and stayed in a twin room - it does the job if you're looking to stay near Isle of Skye. Nice shower. Breakfast was good. No parking available.

Nice location in the middle of town. There is no parking but the receptionist at the desk pointed out a free public lot about two blocks away. The room was small but very adequate. Hotels in Portree are expensive and this was one of the less expensive ones. Thre is a bar and restaurant on the main floor. It was fairly quiet after 10:00PM.

This property is in a great location right in the center of Portree. The rooms were clean, beds were comfy and toiletries were provided. The rooms are located above a bar and restaurant. The food in the restaurant was excellent. My only issue was at my age 40 steps to get to my room with luggage was challenging.

Great location, portree is very small but the parking area is close to the hotel. It is also very close to the colorful view of the coast buildings. It wasn't a problem for us but keep in mind that there is no lift. Beds where comfortable, staff was very friendly. Clean bathroom, with good pressure shower.

Bar and restaurant below the rooms, you walk thru both to get to thin staircase to rooms. Noisy til 10pm. Nothing special in room, just a bed, shower and toilet. You can purchase drinks and take to your room. Breakfast is excellent (food and service), served 7-9am. Temperature in room is uncomfortably hot (we are here in winter with windows open).

Enjoyed our overnight stay at the Tongadale Hotel. Second visit and going back in September. Had a meal in the restaurant, menu had a good selection, was freshly prepared and reasonably priced. Rooms clean and fresh. Breakfast could have been warmer but again good selection to choose from. Overall good value.

Very old building. A nice busy pub in the lobby with excellent choices of drinks. The second and third floor are quiet. Room was tiny with a very small shower and difficult to adjust water temp. There was a roach in the room. The best part of this hotel was the dinner atvthe restaurant. It was well prepared, nice variety and delicious vegetarian options. Breakfast was not great. Seems cheap - we asked for bread and recieved one slice each. Coffee was burnt. Hotel is in a very central location.

The location of the Tongadale Hotel is decent, right in the centre of Portree. That said, Portree itself is incredibly crowded, which probably explains the high prices – but still, the value just isn’t there. The hotel really feels more like a hostel with a hefty price tag. It’s situated above a pub, which tells you a lot about the atmosphere. The food was passable but significantly overpriced for the quality. The room felt more like student accommodation than a proper hotel – basic, uncomfortable and not cleaned daily, which was disappointing. Overall, it just didn’t meet expectations for the price. On a positive note, the service was very good. Special thanks to Caitlin in the restaurant, who was friendly and shared great local tips – she was the highlight of our stay. Still, I wouldn’t stay there again.

The worst thing is we checked in at 10pm and still the room was not cleaned yet. Then they did a quick room service and I highly doubt the cleanliness. No noise-proof. The door lock is broken. Terrible place.

The hotel smelled like vomit. We actually didn’t even end up sleeping in our room and ended up driving back home because it was so gross. They still charged us the full amount

This was a last minute booking and no other hotels had availability. Very old, not updated, and the most bare bones amenities. Tiny room with 3 beds crammed in, a desk, a TV, tiny bathroom with a door that would not latch shut, and a small space to hang coats. The beds were very hard and the pillows were terrible. It was an uncomfortable night, but it was fine for one night as a stop over. The breakfast was included and good, and the pub inside was cute with all very friendly staff.

The room was incredibly basic— the equivalent of a college dorm room. In addition to the sparseness of the room, our sleep was disrupted by loud noise that permeated the room, including noises from someone in the room above us, who was up at 5:00 am, as well as incredibly loud noises that emanated from the plumbing— it sounded like a freight train.

Rooms are above bar/restaurant. Was kitchen noise til 10pm. It’s in the center of Portree so it was convenient. We were fortunate to find a parking spot out front. There is a large lot in city square a couple blocks away. Room was tiny!! Bathroom was 4 foot by 8 foot. For the value it is not good, however Portree is expensive!! Probable would choose another if back.

Tongale hotel is right in the city centre and 2min walking to the colorhouse viewpoint. The tap is a big issue. The hot and cold water comes from different tap and the hot water is scalding hot and the cold is ice cold. No mixing hence we have to stick to washing our face and brushing tea with ice water. Otherwise nice having bf provided

My son and I stayed here for 2 nights and loved everything about it. We loved the cozy historic feel and the staff were so friendly and provided us with excellent service. The rooms and bathrooms are basic but sufficient and more importantly were immaculately clean which is important to me (not a single hair), the beds comfortable and plenty of hot water. When the restaurant was busy they were so good at giving us priority as lodgers, dinners and breakfasts were delicious with phenomenal service. I could see how hard all the staff were working and giving their best efforts.

The room was lovely and very comfortable and clean. The staff, reception, waitresses were amazing, on my 12 day adventures staying in several hotels on the NC500 this hotel was by far the most hospitable to my solo travelling!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Very very grateful for the staff here. We unfortunately got in late, and should have called ahead. Luckily someone heard us knocking on the door, and they checked us in after it was closed! Thank God - or we would have been sleeping in the car. Huge shoutout again to this hotel and for helping us out in such a pinch!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We needed to catch the ferry at Armadale early, but despite breakfast started at 08.00 AM, we could do some breakfast at 06.40 AM. Nice room, quit (except when guests loudly wander through the corridor when coming out of the bar downstairs). Very nice restaurant as well

This place is right in the middle of Portree. I loved the staff and the location. The only reason I give it a 4 star and not a 5 star is the room was very plain and ordinary. It is convenient to everything around there, and the breakfast in the morning was excellent.

The property is in the center of Portree. Parking is congested through town. A city parking lot is available for a fee. The lot is a short distance from the hotel. Hotel dining is very good. I suggest reservations for dinner. Lunch is not provided.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were simple and clean. Had an issue with a leaky toilet but staff had it fixed and cleaned promptly. Full bar with a colorful collection of locals and visitors. Steak and ale pie in the restaurant is a MUST HAVE!!
