The room was very small given the price. Very poor lighting. Not enough sockets. Inflexible checkout. Good location and beautiful restaurant for breakfast.

This hotel could be fabulous. The staff, restaurant and breakfast are outstanding and the location is superb. The issue is the room set up and amenities for the price. This was a “luxury” hotel and we even upgraded to a larger room. We have traveled extensively and the room experience in this hotel is similar to a college dormitory or pension. The bed is comparable to a futon mattress, the sheets are rough. The trash cans are plastic. The lights are unacceptable and dark and under the bed. There are switches and outlets everywhere that barely function. The shower ( or large step -up plastic tub ) is unacceptable and dangerous - water spills out, if you’re older - I would stay away from this hotel. There is little place for clothing and toiletries. We could not leave our valuables and passports as the safe is not secured to the room. Honestly, it was shockingly inadequate. I simply did not have time to complain as I wanted to enjoy Bergen - the staff is so lovely and it’s not their fault. We could have paid half the amount of money for a much higher quality room in Bergen. I should have consulted the reviews before choosing but it was a quick two day stop and I did not have time. Disappointing, as The Bergen Bors hotel could be quite lovely with adjustments and heavy investment. I will say that the staff are fabulous and the property is historic. Do not make my mistake - read the reviews and choose wisely as this was an expensive mistake.
