Iron Horse Hotel

Excellent experience overall. Only downside for me was spottiness of cell and internet connectivity. Hotel does have Wi-Fi. On this trip I needed reliable connectivity so it was an inconvenience. In other circumstances I'd have considered it a non-issue, or even a plus.

Wonderful unique and historic property with beautifully restored woodwork and furnishings and well-kept grounds. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. It feels like stepping back in time in quaint small-town America.

My family really enjoyed our stay. The setting of the town and hotel/bed and breakfast was so fun. It takes you back a little for sure. The rooms were comfortable and we enjoyed exploring the town. There are no tvs in the rooms so it forced the kids and us to explore. We found the fun museums and businesses around as well as the park at the school. We chose to drive about 6 miles to Arrow Rock for supper and ate at Catalpa. We would definitely eat at Catalpa again. The next morning we enjoyed exploring more in Blackwater, sitting on the rooftop balcony, playing cards and thouroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Nichole was so welcoming and a fantastic host. My wife is planning a return visit soon with her friend.

Historic hotel, though few modern conveniences - no nearby parking due to a wedding, no place to eat breakfast in town on Sunday if you stay on Saturday night. No wifi in the room, only in the lobby, no TV, guests could make coffee for themselves in the a.m. in a common area.

Friendly Nichole called the day of our stay to give us a heads up on check-in (piece-o-cake.) If you love old architecture, this is for you. This review for SOUTHERN BELLE ROOM. Outer walls brick, inner walls padded fabric. 10-ft ceilings and 18” crown molding! It was a hot day, and we expected our room to be warm with west exposure and 4 big single-pane windows. But they must have a tremendous ventilation system; it was very comfortable. The room had good blackout curtains. They do stand apart and away from the wall a bit. so if you’re a privacy freak, just bring a few clothespins. Someone did a great job cleaning the room. The clawfoot tub sports a few scuffs, but has a perfect angle for soaking, way better than modern tubs. The mattress was pretty comfortable. The 4-poster frame is beautiful; it did squeak quite loudly when I turned over. Beautiful old furniture does that. There’s a lounge upstairs with frig & microwave, chairs & magazines, coffee/tea fixings, extra towels, ironing board, and an entrance to the rooftop deck. Even flashlights to step out there after dark. They’re upgrading the patio area—a great spot for morning coffee by the flowers. You may have a visitor cat. Food isn’t served there, but if you bring microwave food, you can use tables and an ice machine in the dining room. There’s also a great room for guests to relax in. One train went around bedtime—close and loud and fun! If any more went in the night, we didn’t hear them.

Old quaint hotel. Very clean, full breakfast included in room price. Be reminded, NO TV in room but we had our laptop and were able to stream a movie. We stayed here in conjunction with seeing a show at The Lyceum in Arrow Rock.

The hotel is located next to the train tracks, and during the early morning you could hear the train passing by, but it wasn’t bothersome at all. Plus, they provide earplugs in the room in case the noise bothers you.

Everything was great except. Toilet so small allmost unusable. When I called because I only saw a tube in all the pictures she said all rooms have a shower, It was a hand wand off the tub faucet with no cutain.. We went home to shower.

We had a good visit. There was no food service and the small town did not have much to offer in food service eirher. The accommodations were good. Beautiful antiques. The bathroom is set up with a deep old tub. Shower handle available.

It was a nice place very quiet. There was no shower so a little difficult getting ready. For the price there should have been at least a continental breakfast.

The Iron Horse Hotel/B&B is an absolute treat! The furnishings are gorgeous. The room was comfortable with nice thoughtful touches. We stayed in room 5 which had roof access to a seating area. The breakfast was served in a lovely dining room. The general manager and her staff made our stay enjoyable !! The service was above and beyond!! We found a new favorite!!

Nicole was super nice and made sure we were happy. The place is a page out of yesteryear and is so charming and nostalgic. So much history along the old main st.

The Town of Blackwater and Iron Horse Hotel was the end our short visit to 5 small towns in mid Missouri. The Hotel and Town exceeded our expectations. The Owner takes pride in this old Hotel and the Town. We would recommend that this is the Hotel and Town to visit in mid Missouri.

This was a fun stay. Staff were awesome. And room was one of a kind! I’ll visit again.

My family really loved the room in the old hotel. It was upkept nicely and was very comfortable. The town is so well preserved and adorable with several places to shop. It was quite relaxing and just what we were looking for :)

My aunt and I took a little overnight trip. We loved the hotel! All of the character the hotel and the quaint little town had was very refreshing. Will definitely go back!

It was a quiet quaint hotel in a quiet quaint town. Lovely!

Was advertised as having breakfast and there wasn’t any breakfast. We should have been told this up front. Also, there were multiple trains that went by very close to the hotel and blew their whistles as they went by.

I’ve never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. What a wonderful experience. Far cry from the big hotels. Very friendly and best breakfast by far.

I had picked this hotel because it was listed as a B&B. When we got there we were told they didn’t serve breakfast. It was kinda of a do it your self hotel room. Not having a shower was a big deal for my wife.
