Breakfast was excellent and the pool was amazing

Lovely staff, fab breakfast, clean room, plenty of parking, asked for a quiet pet free room and it was perfect! Will stay here again and hopefully use the amenities next time. Parking was only £5 for 24 hours and as the room was a very reasonable didnt mind paying

Excellent hotel especially the leisure facilities. Hotel and room clean and well maintained. Parking is not free and the machine was not working so had to pay at reception. Reception was very helpful and informative. I got a drink voucher for forgoing a room cleaning on the second day of my stay. The food in the restaurant was excellent on the first night but on the second night there were a few minor deficiencies - it was not as well presented and a few minor components were missing (butter to go with the bread, onion marmalade on the burger). Even so, the food was well cooked and tasty but on the second night I would have given it a 4 out of 5, rather than a 5+ on the first night. The leisure facilities were excellent. I only used the pool (not the gym etc) the pool area had a steam room, sauna and spa bath in the wet area. As well as an portion of the pool where you can do straight line back and forth swimming you can swim in a loop around the spa bath set in the middle of the pool. There are also a large number of sunloungers available to relax after you swim. The changing rooms are away from the pool, mens opposite the squash court, but there are a set of open compartmentalized shelving in the pool area that can be used leaving towels etc. Also the hotel is near a bus route into the city (cathedral, docks, shops), there is a nearby ski slope, a country park with 1-2 hour walking routes and easy access to several places of interest on the outskirts of the city.

Spa loud lots of children not relaxing and over priced

Room had broken shower knob, bedside light switch broken, sink dirty, toiletries empty. House keeping appalling. Just pulled duvet cover over pillows, left no milk/toilet roll/didn’t empty bin. Reception often empty. Facilities (pool,etc) very tired. Jacuzzi off pool only one jet working. And the floor was very dirty around edges of pool. Whole hotel needs an overhaul

We had an amazing time and the customer service was really on point. The staff member at breakfast was very funny and friendly. She made our breakfast time fun. The gym, steam room, sauna and pool were great to be able to use. Overall experience was really good. The only recommendation is to sort out the parking. Having to pay for parking as a guest is quite ridiculous.

The location was very good, however i was not able to have a meal at the hotel due to not pre-book. Free WiFi was one of the big sell however it didn't work and this impacted on my stay as i booked based on having the use of this facility. The swimming pool was out of order due to chlorine issues so was not great as i needed a swim before my sporting event.

The room was quite shabby, the windows slid open and closed and there were lots of dead flies stuck in them.

There was a school/sports group staying that allowed kids (under 13s) to be running round corridors til late at night. The hotel staff ciuld have asked accompanying adults to supervise better. The hotel was really creaky and noisy in general. It needs updating and better soundproofing. One of the pillows in our room was mouldy or stained with mould. The tap in the shower just about turned to enable the water to be switched on to operate. Really could be better in general

The WiFi was awful, “connected” but didn’t actually work. The room wasn’t very clean, stains in sink that I was able to remove with a light swipe from toilet roll… so clearly wasn’t cleaned. Stains on the toilet seat. Toilet would overfill anytime it was flushed. Had to pay for parking even after paying for a room? Radiators would not turn off, woke up sweating, so not exactly eco-friendly if your radiators are constantly on… Plug socket had a snapped bit of plastic in it so was unusable. Did not use the pool or gym facilities as I just wanted to leave. Would not stay here for long periods, overpriced for what the room was.

I recieved many emails from the hotel asking me ablut upgrades etc snd yet the email didnt recieve the request made on booking nor my email on here to request a cot. When we arrived the cot wasnt put up and the hotel put us in a room which aas down 2 floghts of stairs with no lift. Great when havjng to wrestle a tired/sleeping infant at 10pm. The room was not soound proof and we heard the comings and goings of anyone who came alone the corridor. Breakfast was alright and the staff werre friendly but it was not the place to stay with a small child due to noise and no cot. The room was not very clean, the bathroom had hairs in it which weren't ours. Carpets filthy.

Restful time, but hotel needs serious refurbishment. The heating in my room wasn't working. The ceiling in the changing rooms was peeling and black. My bathroom hand soap was filled with water! Staff kind and helpful though.

Well cleaned and spacious room.

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everyone was lovely. I would have given it 10/10 but what let it down was the shower room which had not been cleaned. My stay was from 31st Aug to 1st Sept. I used the facilities on the morning of 31st and then again on the 1st. In the big shower cubicle the plug hole was full of hair and an electic band bthe other smaller cubicles were only slightly better. Its a shame but overall l9vely. I would definitely visit again but let staff know about any issues while i am at the hotel xx

Good value, lovely staff, clean rooms, good breakfast, fun pool. But rooms smelled damp, zip link doubles uncomfortable, no plugs by bed, weedy shower. Would stay again for family but not for romantic couples.

Staff very friendly and helpful, bed comfy, shower ok/not great, swimming pool great, wifi good. Restaurant/food decent, breakfast OK/average. As others have stated, paying for parking seems cheeky, it's not like it's in the city center. Overall satisfied with my stay

Check in was easy, room was clean, parking was easy to organise. I really enjoyed the use of the pool and my buffet breakfast. Rooms are a bit dated, no AC and there are no plug sockets by the beds for charging phones.

Rooms have no air flow and in the recent heatwave our room was like a Sauna. Window could only be opened a couple of inches and the fans provided were of a poor quality and even with thee of them going could not sleep because of the extreme heat. Would have thought a 4* property would have had decent fans. Certainly would never consider staying again unless windows could be opened or air conditioning fitted.

Staff were excellent, without exception. Warm and friendly and entirely welcoming. The bed was comfortable either side of the centreline, although very obviously two singles zipped together which made for a dip in the middle. Blackout curtains were a positive too. Downsides: soundproofing is poor. You can hear every door closing and too many conversations from other rooms. The shower pressure was painfully weak (but the water was always reliably hot on demand). Finally, if you have mobility issues make sure you book an accessible room, otherwise you will be faced with a plethora of small staircases and a menagerie of random doors.

Great sized room and very clean. Slept ok but room extremely hot. Very small window and small fan didn't cope. The corridor leading to room was extremely hot too. Pint of if coke and double g&t cost £19.... .....rip off Breakfast ok but very dry.

Hotel is warm but needs better internet signal. I could not stream any programs on my lap top

On arrival the parking was £5 to stay overnight. I was quite surprised by this cost. I paid for a more expensive room the view was non existent. Overlooking a roof could not see any thing else. The room was a good size and spotlessly clean with free water, crisps and chocolate, this was a nice touch. I did not sleep well the pillows felt damp and felt like they had golf balls in them. The pillows were lumpy I don't know if they had been through a wash or not. Breakfast was the highlight with plenty to offer and it was lovely. The hotel staff were lovely. I would stay here again if they changed the pillows and had a different room with a view.

Room very warm and stuffy and only small window. Tower fan only worked on slow and didn’t oscillate as broken. no hair dryer in room and bathroom extractor fan didn’t work so in a hot room and using shower turned it in to a sauna. Shower was worse than useless, no pressure, had a switch to change from bath to shower and this was dodgy, kept dropping and redirecting water to bath. Couldn’t send enough water up pipe to get shower to work. Asked for another fab and they said they had none. So hot night in stuffy warm room and not enough checks done before we arrived in room. Breakfast was streaky bacon, I mean how to make Travelodge look world class compared to here.

Nice economical stay in a nice place. Nice room but heated too much andattress can be improved upon. Bathroom was very good and the room has enough space

Must say Hotel and Reception welcome staff were lovely but we were not informed before arriving at 7.30pm that restaurant was full and closed at 8.30 because only 2 serving staff were available, but we could order bar food from the same menu and served by same 2 serving staff ?. Only vegetarian option was risotto and rice was not fully cooked. Breakfast was absolute shambles, waited to be seated for 5 minutes but no one came so just had to find a table that been cleared from last guests, had to join queue for coffee cups as none were available, complained to staff as no bacon, scrambled eggs (was 1 fried egg left), no mushrooms left, when eventually food was replenished had to wait as plates were gone !!!, very disappointing service 😞

Fantastic hotel and excellent customer service from all staff members. I instantly felt welcome, Check-In/Check-Out process ran very smoothly, and issues I did incur were dealt with by management and rectified.

Sadly never got to see my room, I had a phone call to cancel at 17:30pm on the evening I was due. They said they had tried to call me earlier but there were no missed calls or messages 😢. However they did resolve the issue eventually, did take quite a lot of stressful time waiting to hear, by booking me into a hotel relatively close. Which was lovely, staff could not have been more delightful and worked out well as my dogs had a field to run in behind the hotel. So a big shout out to the Cheltenham Chase Hotel, I even had a complementary drink for the inconvenience. Robinson picked up the difference in charge.

Given key to an occupied room 😡

No one at reception on arrival, rang bell about 10 mins later someone turns up, doesn’t even pre-auth room just gets me to sign them looks at me like, go on move now, weird. Carpets in reception needs vacuuming, very strange smell on stairs. Sometimes made bed, sometimes didn’t. Replaced towels when they felt like it. Water was brown but had to ask for water, should have been replaced daily. Had to clear own table to find somewhere to eat in bar, after starters no plates cleared and mains delivered, food was OK. Breakfast buffet was cold daily and not much choice of fresh fruit etc.

I was booked out to another hotel of lesser standard without being informed until I have arrived. Very disorganised and rude staff. This hotel made my two days stay in Gloucester a proper nightmare

The swimming area was very good, clean and staff approachable. The evening meal was another matter. I am diagnosed coeliac and when l told them one waitress thought gluten free and coeliac were two different intolerances. When the manager was told , he bought me pages and pages of listings for me to check whether what l was ordering was g/f. Not very helpful! However breakfast was more understanding, knowledgeable and helpful. One person in every 100 according to the BBC this very morning are coeliac and small cafes and larger chains are now all geared up with g/f listed on menus, it’s about time Best Western got up to date with gluten free as well or someone could be very ill with the restaurant staff lack of knowledge about intolerances.

Disappointing , tired for the money, bar/restaurant staff slow. Food was ok. Hotel room key system not working so you had to wait for a staff member to walk each guest back to their room every time you needed to get in. However, the only positive I can bring to this review was the great check out service I received from Shalom in the morning, cheerful and apologetic and a credit.

After issues with the room facilities we informed the reception & they were very apologetic & we received a complimentary meal which did compensate us

Good location Comfy beds Nice hotel staff

The best part was the early opening of the.swimming pool etc. without children till 0800. lovely pool, good layout, and receptionist very pleasant. Other staff all very helpful, too. Will be back again, enabled us to explore Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean.

Staff were fantastic and friendly, pool was great, perfect long weekend location for our 6 and 11 year olds and ourselves.

Staff all really friendly and helpful, just went for 3 nights to relax and it was perfect. Gloucester docks and retail outlet really close by for a great afternoon out. Be aware you have to pay for parking

The hotel was more modern than expected, and this was mainly due to the pictures shown online. We had both also thought that the location was somewhat more remote, perhaps in a wooded area, but it is actually on the edge of an housing estate! The staff at the hotel were polite, and nothing was too much for them. A special mention to the bar/waitress young lady with the pink hair braids (unfortunately I can't remember her name), who made us feel especially welcome.There was a good selection of food at breakfast and poached eggs were available on request. We ate in the restaurant for one evening meal which was also good. We chose not to have our room serviced, which entitled us to a free drink at the bar. However, we later found out that it was only one drink between the two of us, and when ordered, I was told it was only one for the whole stay, not per night. I don't think I would choose this option again! The room was comfortable and had everything needed. Just one thing I would point out is that as you enter the room, there is a rather large shelf. We both walked into it on several occasions and both of us had bruising as a result. There was room to move the shelf at least another foot away from the door, and I think this would be a good idea. I had a massage booked, which was cancelled, due to agency staff not wanting to work after 4pm even though my appt was booked for 5pm! They offered me the following morning, but we were leaving, so I had a refund and two free drinks

This hotel was very good, staff were excellent and the food was lovely. The place was very clean but it was really isolated and in the middle of a housing estate which meant that the pool was always full. One other thing to know the beds are incredibly hard, great if you like that but very uncomfortable if you don’t.

This hotel is away from the town and in a quiet area. You can get a local taxi in minutes. The hotel staff were very nice. They have a restaurant serving good affordable foods. They have a vending machine in place. Access to the pool, sauna, steam room and gym. Hotel has a disco with free entrance which is cool. Enjoyed and feel relaxed with our stay. Recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely 2 night break . The staff are really lovely . Nothing too much trouble . The breakfast was excellent . Plenty to choose from and topped up constantly . We had an evening meal one of the nights but was too impressed . I had lasagne and it was like out of a frozen pack and no taste . Shame as was looking forward to a nice meal. The rooms were spacious . The floors are really creaky which is a shame if you are on the ground floor. I tried creeping around but made no differance . The spar and pool were good too . Overall we had a good stay .

Value for money. Choose the breakfast, it is the best breakfast I've ever had in a hotel. Beware of parking. Cannot fathom why you would need to pay for parking at the price of the room and the area it is in. Rooms clean, beds were comfy for us (firm).

It’s a clean hotel and convenient spa. Everything is was fine nothing great had dinner at restaurant food was mediocre and service was bad. Had to ask after 20 minutes if someone can at least take drinks order. Then again have to call to clear table after waiting for 15 minutes. Breakfast is full English but ingredients were cheap quality especially beans and sausages. So over all mediocre experience.
