The Old Mill

Excellent service. Beautiful grounds at the back. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean. Delicious food. Comfortable rooms. Suggest that the vine on the roof and front wall of the house is cut back. Front parking area of the original building needs tidying and the original front door needs repainting.

A very convivial evening with a lovely ambience in a cosy room. There were a couple of log burning fires. Breakfast was in the main dining area overlooking the extensive grounds and waters that fed the mill. The food in the evening was excellent and breakfast very nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bar had a couple of decent beers. The gardens I imagine would be great in the summer months.

I had a dog-friendly room at the Old Mill with my black lab. It was perfect, with a little courtyard garden, and the staff were super welcoming of him. Breakfast was very good and lovely toiletries in the room. 10/10 :)

A hidden gem. Very clean, great food and loads of parking.

Excellent place to stay at. In fact I was very surprised to see the dog welcome pack in the room and would recommend to anyone with a dog to stay there. Apart from a stain on pillowcase which didn’t bother me too much, the place was very clean and staff very friendly. Much appreciated for the two night stay.

Really nice old fashioned pub. The grounds are amazing with secret gardens which are well worth exploring.

A really nice place to stay our room was clean and modern. Restaurant was nice staff very friendly with nice food. Very dog friendly our Lab was made to feel very welcome. The only negative was that the room was very hot which was fine as we opened the windows and there was a large fan in the room, but for this reason I wouldn’t book to stay in the summer months.

Had a lovely time, service warm and friendly. Very relaxing place to stay. Food really good, fab breakfasts. Our room had loads of thoughtful touches, great coffee and lovely treats and dog bed/towel for our dog. Lovely bathroom, spacious, nice bed linen. Beautiful grounds, great log fires. A little disappointed. After dining here on many occasions, I was looking forward to seeing what the hotel had to offer. I was in room 6. It is positioned facing the road. It was noisy with single glazed windows. The road is very busy. The hotel is also positioned on a bend in the road, so lots of traffic builds up and makes noise accelerating when driving off. This includes loud buses, lorries and motorbikes. The room is also immediately above access to the cellar / stores and you can expect lots of deliveries to start arriving from 6am. There was a very strange experience on the last night. Someone parked there and then entered the hotel at about 5am (no reception). They were trying to be discrete, but walked about the hotel for half an hour occasionally coughing and make the floorboards creak (a big issue throughout the hotel). The room is also next to the recycling collection point and it’s noisily collected early in the morning. The walls in the room could be made of paper. You can hear everything from the rooms next door. The room is also positioned immediately above a small function room for the pub / restaurant. Not a problem during my stay, but I’d imagine it could be for others. The décor in the room has been thoughtfully done, but it’s tired. The wallpaper on the ceiling was falling away in many places. The carpets are stained. Lovely staff and some nice touches in the room, such as the freshly baked shortbread each day. The restaurant food was good, but not a

The bedroom we stayed in was immaculate, but the tables, cups, glasses & cutlery in the restaurant were not so clean. The continental breakfast & croissants were very disappointing.

The carpet in the separate house needs cleaning, especially room 11. The meals and staff were excellent.

Beautiful location Lovely staff and accommodation.

The room was clean and charming although a bit tired (the lamp shades kept tipping over and the toilet flush was loose) but the bed and pillows were comfortable and we slept well. Unfortunately the bathroom had an unpleasant smell when using the shower. If we had booked in for longer than one night we would have asked to move rooms. This was reported and I was told that it would be looked into to get the problem rectified. The staff were very helpful and friendly, given how busy they were when we arrived. We didn't have a pet with us but we do dog sit and are confident that if we had brought her along she would have been welcomed and her needs accommodated. Overall the hotel was lovely and the location very picturesque. It is on a busy road so you can only really venture out by car .

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 night stay at The Old Mill. Our usual hotel was full and even though we had never been before I am so glad we booked! Everything was perfect from the warmest of welcomes, to the beautiful gardens, immaculate room and the hotel and pubs interior, right down to the fuss & love given to our dog Basil! On arrival the parking was plentiful and easy, the check in again was so warm and we were made to feel at home. There was no pressure to prebook a time for breakfast or dinner which was great for us as we really didn’t want to feel restricted and could enjoy our day and return when we wanted and eat. The room was beautiful and immaculate! I am very critical and I do have high standards and this met them all! The staff at the Old Mill really make this place very special, everyone we met were genuinely lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel at home and nothing was ever too much trouble! Even though they were very busy the staff took time to give us attention and make us feel valued and that really does go along way, this place really has the most loveliest homely feel! Many other establishments could learn from the team at The Old Mill, their management should be very proud of the amazing atmosphere they clearly work very hard to create! A special mention to Sydney who was exceptional! I honestly cannot fault anything we had the most wonderful stay and are already looking to book again in the autumn as we cannot wait to return!

Dinner was outstanding — exceptional service and incredible food. The mussels were some of the best I’ve ever had, and both the fish pie and stuffed chicken were delicious. Great wine selection too! Big thanks to Martha, Grace, and Corey for making our stay so special. Breakfast was just as lovely. Can’t wait to come back!

Warn, Clean and comfortable. Room was spacious and equipped with a fridge and coffee maker. Staff were very friendly and helpful.... a pleasure to talk to. Restaurant was warn and inviting....especially with the log burners. Although a few more vegetarian options on the menu would have been great.

Stayed for a couple of nights, wish we could have stayed longer! Room was bigger than expected, clean and lots of light, comfy bed,. Food delicious, cocktails and drinks great, staff friendly and welcoming and a besutiful setting by the river and lush gardens. Hope to return again.

Very pretty pub with rooms in a gorgeous riverside setting. Accessed across two walkways across the river, the pub is cleverly designed and decorated, making the most of its watermill heritage. The staff are very friendly and keen to help. Our room was bigger than expected and well equipped, and supper in the conservatory overlooking the river was impressive. Breakfast too was perfect, the wonderful staff really adding to the experience. Well done team. You hit all the right spots.

The "double" room was small and cramped, very hot (even on a particularly mild evening), and extremely noisy, with loud music from the bar downstairs during the whole evening, and in the morning from 8am (for some reason). Lovely location but not an ideal place if you want a quiet and peaceful break.

The room was on the ground floor, so other than opening the windows there was no other ventilation. The bath didnt hold water! The bottles of soap for both the bath and shower were too high to use. We had a shared sea food platter for our dinner, cold and not very interesting at £33.

What an excellent place to stay. Firstly let me commend the fantastic staff. All so courteous & professional, nothing was ever too much trouble. Our Comfy king room was in fact huge. Had the weather been better we’d have talent advantage of the outside area. The food in the restaurant was fist class. We’ll be back

All i can say is Wow . One night away for our 20th Anniversary. Booked a double room but were given room 8, a suite. Beautiful bathroom, huge shower, free standing bath and twin sinks. Kingsize bed in the bedroom. Quirky walk through area to large lounge, dining area. Built into the oldest part of the pub so low ceilings. Had some drinks during the afternoon in the beautiful gardens, lovely water area and quirky features around the grounds. Lovely meal in the evening. All staff friendly and helpful. Amazing breakfast the next day but couldn't finish it, gave it a good shot though..

The grounds to the property were beautiful, food excellent and staff were amazing.

Jan and his team were great. Warm welcome, very attentive and couldn’t have been more helpful. I was meeting a friend for a few drinks and they made her very welcome from the outset. The accommodation was lovely too. Proper coffee machine and a cosy room. Couldn’t recommend enough :-)

Great hotel, friendly staff and a great restaurant

We stayed here for one night. Our room was lovely, very clean and cosy, lots of lovely touches to make it homely and they thought of everything including a fresh bottle of water and milk in the fridge. The shower and bath were both great and everything was spotless. We ate dinner in the restaurant that night, it was packed but the service was fantastic and the food delicious, we both had the mussels. The cocktails were brilliant too, we’d already had a cocktail each earlier in the afternoon and I wanted a pornstar martini as my next one, the bar man said they ran out of something that was needed and I let out an ‘nooooooo’ as they are my favourite. He then said he was sure he could figure something out and he still made me it, and it was as delicious as they always are. We also had the breakfast in the morning, we both had a yogurt compot with granola and then the full English and that was delicious too. I also saw a lady come in who had wanted one of the yogurt compots but we had the last ones and the girl serving went and made her one. Nothing was too much for the staff here! The service is incredible. We would definitely recommend and we will definitely go back in the future.

Super welcoming staff, helpful and friendly, without exception. All too good to pick out a special person. Good food . Comfortable room. Lovely setting beside pretty mill stream with attractive gardens.

From the welcome by professional and helpful Staff to the Check out from the same our stay was first class. The high quality of Customer Service shone through. Our Room was very comfortable and relaxing. Service at our meal in the evening very good. Nothing was too much trouble and we would not hesitate to recommend.

Perfect for a few days relaxing. Near to attractions and forest

It was a great location, Very Quiet, Easy parking.

We took a short midweek break at the old mill. We were looking for somewhere quiet and secluded and weren't disappointed. The room we booked had a lovely terrace that would have been nice to sit out in had the weather not been so wet.The room itself was warm, clean and very quiet. It was in a house separated from the mill itself which meant a short walk to breakfast and dinner but we didnt mind that. We booked dinner there for our stay and were impressed with the quality of the food and the variety of dishes. There was also a fantastic selection of drinks on offer. The old mill really is a lovely tranquil place to stay and I can honestly say we have come away feeling relaxed and chilled out. The staff were welcoming, kind and friendly. Thankyou to everyone who made our stay so great. We will definitely be back again soon. I would add that if you book direct with the old mill they offer incentives to do so. We will be making sure we do this in future.

Good location for exploring the New Forest area

This place is off the beaten path, with wild horses, ponies, and donkeys roaming the streets and fields. The property is beautiful and has something for everyone. The staff includes some of the warmest, friendliest people who make you feel like family. They repeatedly assisted us without prompting and wouldn't accept tips. The staff was happy, kind, and absolutely lovely. The restaurant was cozy with a fire on a cool evening, the food was yummy, and I just can't say enough about the people. It is well worth the trip!

Quality hotel, very friendly staff, and superb location.

Very comfortable hotel and breakfast was great - location wise very pretty overlooking the weir and pond. Be aware though that if there is very heavy rain some of the paths leading up to the hotel can flood but once you are over that it’s great. Staff were good as well can get busy at dinner time

A slight problem with the menu Sunday night some items were not available, would have liked a steak but not available on Sunday.

Stayed for 5 nights in a room in the Millers cottage. Staff were great. Breakfast good. Evening meals could have been better. Room very good. Would definitely stay again

Friendly greeting on arrival and efficient advance check-in process. Room delightfully airy, spacious and comfortable with view over garden and courtyard dining area. Evening dinner ‘ok’ (nothing to write home about); service nice and friendly. Room well insulated, so didn’t hear overnight storm! Breakfast very good and tasty. Thank you

Nice comfortable room. High end fixtures and fittings. Comfortable bed. Nice atmosphere in the bar/restaurant, shame the menu was limited and quite expensive.

The hotel, building and accommodation are amazing, full of character with sympathetic renovation, make it a unique site. Our Room had a really comfortable bed and the room was a good size for a couple The only issue we’ve got with the Hotel was the somewhat irregular quality of the food. The first day we were there we had lunch, which quite honestly was really not very good and the first breakfast there was a big disappointment, dry badly presented. However, on the second day, when we had dinner from the three course menu, it was excellent really well presented very tasty as sitting those surrounds made it a joy. This morning, the breakfast we had before we checked out, was also well presented very tasty. Overall a very pleasing stay at the hotel which considering the problems at the Hotels facing due to excessive floods caused by the heavy thunderstorms.. The stuff without exception were very pleasant to you and communicated very well with their customers
