Homestead B&B Cambridge

We stayed in Honeymoon Studio Suite with a front porch. The suite is spacious and decorated beautifully. We enjoyed mountain view and watching moon at night. It was so fun to have breakfast with the alpacas and other animals around the house. The host was very kind and very friendly. We had a very pleasant stay.

I was absolutely charmed by the alpacas on our patio when we woke up in the morning. Very pastural setting with sheep in the fields lining the driveway and cattle and ducks in the fields further out. The room was large and already stocked with the breakfast food for us. The only improvement I can suggest is better signage, as the road is a busy one and we missed the turn into the driveway. This B&B ranked very high in the many places we stayed in New Zealand. So very lovely!

Easy access from Rt 1s. But open and closing the gate was a job. We had a pleasant stay overall. But it was really hot for few hours when we checked in suggested time, due to direct sun and AC was off. Fridge had 4 slices of bread in a box with 2 small butter packets along with small amounts loose cereals and milk in containers with lids. Usually we see them in store packed and sealed with regular branding. It was nice to see a cow, sheep and Alpacas around. Good view in the back.

We stayed in a room in the old homestead which was a surprise as it didn’t match the photo on the website. The room was shabby but worse it was dirty. The bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast adequate. It certainly was not value for money and I could not recommend it to anybody else. Entry was through a spring loaded gate with loose chicken wire which snagged on clothing. It was a very unsatisfactory experience

Breakfast was a convenient, serve ourselves affair. Only downside was access to the gate required U-Turns at designated turn areas, due to the main road median barriers (obviously nothing the owners can change, but information on the issue before arrival would be useful)

If you're looking for an adventure & quirky place to stay, this is it! I cantacted the property through the website and WhatsApp for check in details, received no communication as to how to access the room. A gentleman appeared when we pulled into the yard and asscorted us to our room. He didnt show us how to use the keycode lock so we couldnt get back in the room. We left the window open and climbed back in. Which was entertaining but unnecessary. The room needed a very good clean, cobwebs everywhere and mucky curtains. There is a gate to open on the drive and low hanging trees. Iff you fancy an adventure and aren't too fussy, this place is great 😂

He had a variety of yogurt, bread and jam and other simple breakfast foods. We stayed the main house. The only downside was the shared bathroom. Depending on how many guests are at the house there can be lengthy waits for the bathroom.

The cottage is sited next to a farmhouse, off a very busy main road and through a shut farm gate (not nice in the wet). Watch out for the BnB sign as it is easy to miss. The cottage is spacious with a comfortable bed but it feels a bit bare, without a table to eat off and looking out to a paddock and picnic table. The heat pump was welcome as the weather wasn't good but it only put out a low level of heat, despite raising the thermostat to its maximum. It must have been the same for earlier guests as it was set at its maximum when we arrived. Water was only available in the bathroom, from a tap that was set too low to fill the jug easily and we weren't able to wash the dishes easily either. The shower was good and very welcome after our bike ride. We were met with a small flock of turkeys on the verandah and the next morning these had been replaced by two llamas! Photographs were quickly sent round our family and kids would love it. The BnB is out in the country but just 5 minutes drive away from Cambridge and less than half an hour to the Hobbiton site. We went on the Riverside Adventures e-bike ride and had a great afternoon beside the Waikato River.

What I liked about the property was its uniqueness. It was hard to see the sign, you did have to open and close a gate to get in and out, and there were animals in the yard, but that was part of its charm. The room was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was tasty and got me through the morning and the cookies were delicious.

The facility is simple but pleasant. We enjoyed our stay at the Homestead. The alpacas come right up to you and like to be fed avocado leaves. The hosts are very pleasant and helpful. Our only semi-issue are the mattresses are very firm. Also photos are accurate, great view from room, light breakfast items in room (granola, cereal, milk, toast).

Amazing stay! The accommodations were clean and comfortable. There isn’t reception but check in was clear and easy. We had some nice bites ready for our breakfast. If you like animals, there are lots to see around the property. The host was helpful and friendly. We had a great stay and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

The outlook from our room was sheets on the washing line. The property manager attacked the alpacas with a broom. He saw me watching but carried on. Lots of flies. They were immune to the fly spray. Very dirty under the microwave and behind the TV. No cloths or bath mat provided

Sehr schöne Umgebung, zwar direkt am Highway, aber davon bekommt man nichts mit, da das Haus etwas zurück liegt und die Zimmer nach hinten raus gehen. Tolle Aussicht, und tolle „Nachbarn“: ein paar Alpakas, die sich gerne füttern lassen. Leider war die Mikrowelle dreckig, Krümmel in den Schubladen und die Dusche nicht sauber.

The property was clean and tidy.

For two guests there was limited cutlery only one coffee cup for two people. Shower was not clean there was pubic hair under the shampoo bottles no extra blankets as it was quite cold.

The apartment was located on a farm. We woke up to alpaca outside our room and the view was lovely. The room was comfortable and the host was gracious. Our only issue was the lack of reliable wifi. It was hit and miss.

The room lacked privacy. Windows needed to be kept closed because of insects from farm. Difficult to use sink. The room was not a luxury room. Wifi was very weak.

This was a short, two night, stay. Check in was very simple, the room was exactly as described. We loved the homely atmosphere with a beautiful view over farmland. There was everything we needed for an enjoyable stay and most importantly, a very comfortable bed.

We spent just one night on this property and loved it! It was calm, serene, clean and had all the basic amenities. The animals on the property are adorable, especially the Alpacas! The host is extremely courteous and helpful. He helped us store our bags on the property before and after check in, so we are very grateful for that. The only inconvenience was that that the room was extremely cold (we visited in July, which is winter in New Zealand). The host advised us to put the AC on heating mode and while we did that on the highest temperature possible, the room did not heat up much. So I am guessing the insulation is not great. However, this will not be an issue over the summer months, which is NZ's main tourist season. Overall, I highly recommend the property and would love to go back again!

Et stort, fint og rent værelse. Badeværelset også fint med div bade cremer. Udsigten fejlede heller ikke noget. Værten var meget rar. Han havde 3 lamaer gående i haven, samt en art kalkuner gående også. Så hyggeligt. Kan varmt anbefale stedet.***** også

In general on first appearances the property and location seemed fine - a farm stay was what i expected. As i initially parked a man came out and in broken English pointed to a sign on left door of the property which had my name written on a strip of lined paper. You have to move your car and park in front of door. After i had manouvered the car he showed me into the room and where he had left the key. The furnishings were nice, no kitchenette and the bathroom was that and storage ironing board. In the main room there was a sideboard unit with cereals and coffee/tea and sugar all in containers. In the fridge there was milk, and in sealed boxes 2 yogurts and 4 slices of bread. In another there was butter and conserves. The expedia advertising had mentioned continental breakfast to be served with a selection of pastries. So i was expecting a breakfast that was hosted, not a make it yourself with what we provide! I then noticed inside the jar of granola INSECTS roaming around. Non of the containers had been wiped or cleaned or it seemed not to have been checked for freshness of cereals. The bathroom sink was not clean. An ingrained circle around the plug hole showed lack of care. There was long dark hairs all over one soft chair. The front door blind was very stiff and was fraying and needed attention. The alpacas were lovely neighbours, living next to the property in the owners garden. I enjoyed watching them.The outside space was uninviting. No contact with hosts!

Nice and cozy. Alpacs on property you can pet. Host is super helpful.

The property was convenient for our stay in Cambridge. Check in was easy. Breakfast was handy and fit our needs.

Waking up to misty mountains in the distance was a way to start to the day. The animal friends in the yard was a bonus. It’s a cute, quiet place which allows you to relax and enjoy the world around you.

A small place out in the country with only a few quests so nice and quiet.

Getting to the BnB and leaving is difficult since it is located directly at the highway. So getting out on busy hours can be tough. Watch out the alpacas seem to have figured out how to take the stairs ;)

It was nice to get away and be in a nice quiet place that you can still easily go exploring. Random location off the express way but also very convenient as it’s close enough to drive to cities and the surrounding small towns 😀

It was not so clean and you haven’t a lot of choise whith the breakfast. Further the B&B is on a bussy road, this makes it quite dangerous to get off the road and on it

Pleasant experience in a very peaceful environment. Close to the town of Cambridge and Hobbiton, which was the goal.
