Hood River Hotel

Perfect location. The hotel lobby fireplace is a soothing touch. Park the car and walk everywhere or stay there to enjoy breakfast and lunch with drinks.

Parking was inconvenient - but doable. TV was super small. Loved the Lift. Great experience. Close to what we were looking for.

It started off a bit rough. The room was hot, the information said “has AC”. Asked front desk, they set the temperature, not us. They finally agreed to change rooms to one with working AC. Parking was down a hill and a block away. Tried to pull up in front of hotel to unload, a mail truck was in their loading zone. We had to park down the street to unload, thank goodness they had 1 cart.

Tara was great. Place was disappointing. The parking situation is rediculous. Really. What a joke. It’s an old building with an ancient elevator. Room was not worth the money. The inconvenience of parking makes it very undesirable. We were never offered our VIP perks. I had to ask in the morning of the water was complimentary. As I said. Tara upon check was wonderful. The only good thing there.

parking is a problem. there is just street parking. the parking fee resumes the next morning at 8am. my vehicle is ticketed at 8:11am while we were asleep. hotel is ancient. there is a noticeable slope in the bedroom due to age. you could put a ball on the floor and it would roll by itself. the toilet bowl is tiny. if you are a large man you would have trouble sitting in it.

Vintage hotel, quirky and fun, staff friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Parking is a steep block away at $15 a night.

Parking could be a problem. We lucked out and found a parking space close to the hotel. The hotel does not provide parking, you have to pay to park on the street or a lot between 8AM and 6 PM. Street parking is free at night.

The parking was a pain. Overall the stay was lovely.

This was a wonderful hotel with friendly staff, very clean quiet rooms with comfy beds located in a great spot in downtown Hood River. We appreciated the complementary drinks on arrival, as well as an excellent breakfast, seriously one of the best breakfasts ever! We look forward to returning sometime.

The hotel was wonderful, beautifully decorated. Our room was clean comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff was so friendly and helpful. My husband said he looks forward to us staying again.

We were very happy with our accommodations. The building was old (expected with a historical landmark) but very well maintained. The Lobby is beautiful. Staff was friendly.

The building is a historic landmark and very interesting. However, the TV did not work and one of the light fixtures also did not work. The TV problem was resolved but took 3 hours and multiple entrances from staff, which was invasive to relaxing after a 3 day rafting trip...we just wanted rest and to get clean!!! Unfortunately, the lighting problem was never resolved. I was told a manager would contact me and "perhaps" offer me a discount; neither of which happened. The bathroom entrance was inconveniently located behind one of the beds with minimal clearance (12"at best) and you had to step up to get into it. Very uncomfortable. The carpet was stained and so was the only comfortable chair, yuck! Additionally, the loading zone was ONE space and had a military of 30 minutes and was occupied, so we had to carry our luggage UPHILL to get it to the hotel. Also, the parking description, said "parking available" which really meant "you can pay to park in the public lot down the hill for $15 dollars a night" which was not comped at all. Very poor description and not at all what I was expecting. I booked this hotel because my 4th grader studied pioneer history last year and I thought she would find it educational. However, the educational aspect of it did not come close to outweighing all of the problems and mistruths the hotel broadcasted about the property in their description. Historic should not mean "nothing works with crappy service". WILL NOT STAY HERE EVER AGAIN.

The lobby and building is beautiful. The room, however left quite a bit to be desired. I had a 5 day reservation for myself and 2 children. We were put in a room with two double beds and a small table, crammed full of snacks and drinks for purchase. There was no dresser. The closet had 4 hangers and no light. It was pitch black. I had to buy a battery light for it. When we requested another suitcase rack so that we could attempt to live out of our 2 suitcases for the week, we got a snarky comment from the front desk. I will say that the night desk person is amazing. She was an older woman who greeted us nicely each evening and was always very helpful. I can’t say the same for anyone else. The bathroom had a ridiculous leak in the skylight. For the first 4 nights it only rained lightly so we just kept noticing damp spots on the floor that I brushed off as coming from our wet shoes. But the last night was a heavy rain. You couldn’t sit in the toilet without being hit from 5 different leaks. I literally draped a towel around myself to use the restroom. I told the front desk person at checkout about it, and that the entire floor was soaked - we used every single towel and there was still a ¼” if water on the floor she said “Oh yeah - from the skylight. Can’t really do anything.” I thought - how about not use that room, especially to a family staying for 5 days! How about giving us a dresser? How about a room with enough plug ins to run the space heater -only source of heat!

Clean room, comfy bed, weird slant of floor, smells like ghosts, parking is terrible, open window is the only air, street was noisy. Interesting for one visit.

Fun, quirky hotel! Very clean and darling historic touches. We enjoyed breakfast at the adjoining Swedish restaurant. We had a room with two queen beds, which was pretty tight for space, but was fine for us. Really good coffee in the lobby!

They leave earplugs by your bed because of how loud it can be. The walls were so thin that we heard the television of our neighbors all night, as they slept with the tv on. Hearing a laugh track at 2am through the walls sucks. The second night our room got so hot, and we had no option to help cool it down. Cool building, great location. Two night stay with minimal sleep sucks.

This is a class act hotel. We had the "Historic Downtown Suite" which was quite large with a separate dining/kitchen area. Very comfy, nice bed. The simpler rooms are tighter, of course, from what ee could see. Hint: the hotel directs you to $15/day parking 2 blocks away down a steep hill, but off season there was plenty of street parking right by the hotel for $1/hr to 6PM, then free.

This had the potential to be a charming property, but the way that it presented itself in photographs was not how it really was!! It is a very old building and the hallways and rooms were actually slanted and this was very disconcerting. It was a huge step down from the bathroom to the sleeping room, which was hard to navigate at night. After a day of hiking outdoors, there was no hot water for a shower and one of us took a barely lukewarm shower and the one who wanted a hot bath just skipped it. There was a desk chair that was made out of metal lattice and was so uncomfortable to sit on that it was unusable, and the padded chair was offkilter and slanted. The elevator was probably 100 years old and the brass accordion door tended to slam on you while you were trying to get in and out. Otherwise, comfortable beds, OK pillows, not really enough blankets for a fairly drafty room. Again, if websitehad not created such highexpectations, we might not have felt as bad about the facilities, except not having hot water is kind of inexcusable. Also, regarding check-in when we arrived at the place, the desk clerk was gone, and there was no sign up, and there were several parties waiting to check in, and we were all ready to call the police when she finally reappeared after a “break”.

Beautiful historic hotel for those who value character over modernity. Parking is tricky as one must choose to self park for $15 or get up at 8 to feed the street meter. Cozy lobby and coffee house attached with the best of Hood River adjacent. Bed was very comfortable, Wi-Fi worked well. If you are noise sensitive would recommend a room away from the train side.

We have stayed at this hotel previously. We love Hood River. The room we stayed in (308) was small but we expected that. We didn't anticipate the hot, stuffy conditions overnight that made it difficult to sleep. A fan was provided and the window could be opened a crack but it wasn't enough to make it comfortable. Tara at the front desk was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful both at check-in and the following morning for checkout. My room was great. I liked that I could open the windows or have the air conditioning on. Also, everything was very clean – I would definitely stay there again.

Tara, the desk clerk, was very helpful. We really like the atmosphere of this historic property. The rooms aren’t huge, but this is an historic hotel, we didn’t expect a suite, and it was more than adequate. The central location can’t be beat.

My favorite hotel in Hood River! It’s very cozy and relaxing! The lobby area is so cozy with a large fire place! Extremely dog friendly! Excellent and friendly staff! D at the front desk is great!

Overall the hotel was charming, however the staff were not warm, it felt like I was bothering them when I needed something. For example, when I checked in, I was supposed to get a wine tasting voucher for a nearby winery and they did not give it to me. I had to come in and inquire about it later. The worst was the parking situation. The hotel does not have its own parking area and you have to find your own and pay. The hotel is cute and charming. The staff need to work on customer service skills and how to interact with the public.

An old time hotel with quirky charm.Located right on the main shopping street in downtown Hood River with several nice restaurants within walking distance. A fun surprise in our room was a phonograph with several old classic rock vinyl albums. Staff were very friendly and we were allowed an early check-in. Would definitely stay here again.

There is no parking here, so you have to pay to park or wait until street parking is free. They charge $100 incidental fee, which we used 75% of. Stayed there on May 24 and the hotel still has a hold on my card for the full incidental amount on June 18th, almost a month later!! I have called multiple times with no help. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Location great for visiting sites in Columbia River Gorge area. Beautiful setting. Cute town to explore. Excellent dinner at Celilo next door. Yummy tacos up the street. And amazing Scandanavian breakfast at attached restaurant Broder Ost. Hotel sits next to busy train tracks, so be aware though I didn't find it a problem. More the couple who had an obscenity filled screaming match for about an hour from 11pm to midnight one night. Was glad when it ended LOL.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We stayed in Hood River to be near Mt. Hood and it ended up being our favorite part of a 7-day roadtrip through Oregon. The hotel is so charming with everything you need. In the lobby, there's a fireplace to relax as well as a small convenience store for snacks and you can purchase local wine and beer. There's also coffee and a water refill station, so bring your emotional support water bottle. The room was adorable, with little touches of history and comfort. We stayed in November and the weather was mild, and we were so happy that they offered a space heater and a box fan. Fan sleepers, unite! We stayed on the third floor and have absolutely no issues with noise inside or outside. The staff were friendly, it's dog friendly, and perfectly located to walk anywhere in the town.

Well appointed rooms, absolutely beautiful lobby area, lots of room to lounge and enjoy the fire. Amazing restaurant, Broder, in house for breakfast & lunch. We’ll be back!!!

Lovely older hotel. Good service. Nice lobby and restaurant. It is very near the train tracks and you do hear the horns during the night.

Great location, service by front desk was amazing. Had a few problems with the payment system at breakfast being out but they allowed us to leave and called later for the payment.

Did a girls weekend here and it was amazing! The restaurant had the best breakfast I’ve ever had and everything was so close! Live music by the fire and great customer service!! It’s not a question of if we go back it’s when!!

Quaint hotel located in the heart of Hood River. Walkable to many bars, restaurants. Cozy lobby you can enjoy a drink, but bar and restaurant only open breakfast and lunch, was hoping to get an evening drink. Heating system needs an update, we knew it was a older hotel but when you're staying in during winter time it was much to cold. Also no parking for guest. Street parking or the lot by the train.

Hotel is right downtown in old town district. Good restaurant attached. It's an old classic hotel. It's a little rougher around the edges, but a perfectly fine place to stay.
