Overall the stay was average. We changed hotels last minute so we had 2 double bed so was not many options left. Being close to King was ideal but on the north side so a little far from many of th activities we had planned but not a huge deal as we walked or grabbed ride share which was readily available. We had to ask several times for towels, which should have been an easy task. One of staff members didn’t have much info to share on bus system when we inquired. The bed was smashed against the wall so when sharing you couldn’t even get out the one side. Gym and pool were pretty small, pool didn’t have enough chair the first day we tried to sit out. Average stay, but would not return.

Just know before you book with the hotel, the pet fee is now $200 and no longer $75 like what is listed on this site. Also the valet parking is the only option for parking, no other lots near by. The hotel staff was pleasant and the room was comfortable. They were doing a lot of construction work on the building so that was a nuisance, especially with pets.

Had a wonderful stay. The bed was very comfortable and the room quite. It was great to be able to do laundry there. Breakfast was adequate. The pull pork was very good. Very close to King St. The valet Jack was very nice and personable.

Lobby driveway is cramped, building is under repair and covered with scaffolding, compulsory $35 valet, took too long to respond to my vehicle request in one occasion. No restaurant onsite, bar could not make most of my requested drinks, room spacious and clean, well stocked kitchen

Hotel was incredibly nice. Clean, modern, well located. The only negative point was that there wasn't any Private Business Center. Even if I went on holidays with my family, I had some business meetings and couldn't find a private spot for those meetings. Had to be at the end of the dinning room, as close to the front-desk there was too much un-privacy and noise. Rest, perfect.

Absolutely awful part of messing and Reid no Parking unless you pay $39 Per day for Valet and they post they are not responsible for your car or what’s in it! We got two tickets I the awful trashy lost Nextdoor even ruling we paid at 7pm and 7am, even had a boot on the car! Would highly recommend staying where there is parking include and safe. Huge disappointment and barely any visible sign able to locate the property

Enjoyed our stay in Homewood Suites while visiting the city of Charleston. Room was clean and breakfast was good. The only issue I have is parking. Using the hotel's valet is quite pricey. Public parking is available right in front of the hotel which was convenient (still expensive).

We arrived very late due to a flight delay and arrived at our room at 2:30 am. It was shabby and had a terrible odor like cat urine. We toughed it out due to the hour but thankfully were able to be moved the next day. Even the lampshade had a hole in it. Just not at all a Hilton type property. The lobby was nice but rooms badly need a deep professional cleaning or refurbishment. We love pets but prefer not to smell them in our room. There were a number of pets on our floor. The young staff were very helpful and valets were great. That is why my rating is as high as it is. I went back and read reviews after our issue and saw several with the exact same problem. A quality control person from Hilton needs to walk each room in this hotel. The bed linens are minimal. There is nothing luxurious about the rooms. I felt that the online photos and description led us to expect a higher quality hotel. It was almost $400. per night but didn't feel that way. Even our drapery hems were ragged like they had been chewed by an animal. I cannot imagine what else could cause it. We were fine with the location. It was really that the rooms are tired and need extensive professional cleaning or renovation. For that reason we would not stay there again.

Overall property felt dirty. Front desk didn’t provide much information at check in. Carpets were wet and when I called the front desk to ask why, they said they would ask house keeping and never got back to me. Walls had holes and paint chipped everywhere. Megan the front office manager was wonderful and did a great job at check in. we had to change rooms because of a wet floor. Megan changed our room to a 2 queen Suite, there was not enough towels in the room. The room upon check in was not very clean

The staff was wonderful but didn’t receive room service one day and had to ask for clean towels. Ran out of toilet paper and had to use tissues. Also the bar area had a lot of fruit flies and did not go back. They need to get an exterminator

Considering the cost, this hotel was underwhelming. We had 4 suites booked. One room was dirty and was missing some furniture. The manager took notes, but that was all. One room had a broken door they couldn’t fix. The occupants were not moved to a different room until the next day. The breakfast buffet had very limited choices and the manager forgot to order waters, so they ran out on day 3 of our 5 night stay. The valet parking was expensive and they didn’t even park our car every night. There was no hot water the first morning and we were told that was normal. Overall, the staff was friendly and the common areas were clean.

Very clean hotel. Room seemed very clean, However, when I used a black light on the easy chair and desk chair it revealed several stains all over the chair. In my opinion, I assume it was bodily fluids. So I did not sit in the easy chair. I did put towels down on the desk chair. I really think this was a great Hotel. To be fair, every hotel probably has this same issue. Best not to take black light with you.

I was a little concerned with some mixed google reviews. However, we had an excellent experience, and here are my thoughts. The hotel is barely a block from King street, which is a main thoroughfare for food and shopping. It is a mile from City Market, which may be a little long for some, but we walked it with a toddler and stroller, and it was easy and safe. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room and hotel were very clean. Breakfast was great: fruit options, meat options, potatoes, waffles, grits, yogurt, and a great variety for coffee, tea, milk, and juices. Location and safety: This is in downtown, historic Charleston. The surrounding area matches ANY downtown area. We felt safe, and the hotel, just as other higher priced options do, keeps an eye on who does/does not enter, requiring keyed access to elevators too.

The hotel itself is in a great location near upper King Street and is close to tons of shopping and great restaurants. The hotel itself is located right between Meeting and King, but the short street it is on is not necessarily scenic. It is a bit of a walk to attractions like the waterfront, South of Broad, and the Battery, but the walk is flat, doable, and takes you through some of the most scenic parts of the city. As for the hotel itself: the staff was friendly and helpful. It offers a run of the mill continental breakfast buffet that has everything you need. Our room was spacious and had a great view of the Ravenel Bridge. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The only minor complaint we could manufacture is that the furniture was a bit worn. However, it in no way diminished our stay. We would definitely recommend the hotel

Positives: -spacious room, and very clean -great staff, super helpful and friendly -the pool was awesome for us travelling with 2 kidos ages 4 and 7 -close to bars, local restaurants and free bus route not too far. You can walk from this hotel and see a lot of Charleston by foot. Negatives: -it was real hot outside and no water was provided in the rooms -bath products sucked - bring your own shampoo and body wash -the mattress could use replacing -we parked in front of the hotel which was $25/day vs hotel valet parking at $35/day : we were happy to know wabout this from other reviews before we got to the hotel Overall we recommend this hotel :)

I thought I was getting a room that had a separate bedroom. The room was big and comfortable but not two separate rooms. Also, the bathroom sink was right next to the bed with no door to separate it from the bedroom. The toilet and shower did have a door.

The room great over all. The downside was that the second floor of the garage was immediately outside our windows. The view was all license plates at eye level. The staff was great overall but with one exception. The lady at the front desk acted like we were thieves trying to steal towels. She told us to return the towels to her in a garbage bag. Plenty of hotels have towels available near the pool, a spot to return them, and don’t treat their guests as criminals. It really left a bad impression.

We were in town for a wedding and the rate was better at Homewood so we gave it a shot and couldn't have been happier with the location, the room, the space, the staff, breakfast, coffee, and price. This was a win-win-win all weekend long. We will stay here again and more importantly look for a Homewood when we are searching Hotels.com

Daughter arriving later. I asked for multiple room keys. Said no. She can come get a key when she arrives. Stayed four days. Asked for late checkout. Call morning of checkout. Called at 8 am. Sorry. No. You can’t have that. Hilton Gold member. Internet didn’t work on our iPhones. $39 a night to park only option. Staff was friendly when they denied me things I wanted tho.

I left my Waterpik in the room. The hotel found it and set it aside for me to pick up in a few days, when I would pass by on the way to the airport. When I went to pick it up they could not find it so I had to leave without it. Now the hotel wants me to pay almost $24 to get it back. I have asked the hotel to send without charging me and no response. I think this is poor service. Also the name historic district is misleading. It is 20 minutes walk from downtown and the center of the historic district. Misleading.

I booked the trip for me and my husband to go visit our son at college. I wasn't able to go because I was sick, so my husband went solo. When we got to the hotel to check in, they wouldn't let him check in because I wasn't there. He reqested a manager. He gave my name, date of birth, email, phone number and the cc I used to book the room - but still they wouldn't let him check into the room. Needless to say my husband was furious. It was midnight and he had nowhere to go! Terrible service!

It’s difficult to leave this review because we have made this our springbreak home the last 3 yrs. Everyone and everything was wonderful EXCEPT the abrasive and difficult daytime front desk lady. I can’t call her out by name bc she wore a cardigan and no visible name tag all week. It is unbelievable and a shame the GM and above management would post her upfront making her the face of this great property. Many guest spent the week sharing run-ins and unpleasant experiences with this staff member. Be better Hilton ! You teach what you accept.

It is a nice facility and has 24/7 valet parking which is good because the area it is in is very dirty and rundown in sections with some questionable activity on the streets. I would never self park my car there except during the day and only right in front of the hotel.

Centrally located and just a short walk to King Streer. Parking is valet otherwise you won’t feel comfortable. Very expensive stay but its relative in Charleston as everywhere is even more.

I’m pleased with the ease of checking in and the cleanliness of the room was great. It is fantastic to have a kitchen area with small children. We enjoyed the free breakfast. It can be slightly noisy due to surrounding area traffic and it’s adjacent to an empty lot is a bit of an eye sore. However, in a few blocks, you are in the shopping area and restaurants which is great.

Breakfast was gross. The oatmeal was salty like grits. Dried cherries old old old. Sausage gravy on day 2 was same temperature as the can. The hot water never got hot hot. Smudges all over closet as if never wiped down. Happy hour reception is once a week, not nightly. We are gold members and typically like Hilton properties but not this one. They did give us each a slice of choc cake for anniversary and a hand written card. Would not stay here if in Charleston. There's an Embassy Suites right down the road.

Front Desk clerk was very helpful. I arrived early. She said she would text me when my room became available which she did. Then she followed up shortly afterwards to check that I was happy with it. One thing I would have enjoyed is a bar menu. No food service at the bar.
