We found Lake Tiak when making last minute plans to visit our daughter in Starkville. We chose it because of the great price and a friend said it was nice, clean and safe. We were SO happy we found it. Check-in was so easy, we were early so we stopped and had an amazing burger in their restaurant, AMAZING, a wonderful peach margarita at the bar and had a fun visit with the nice guy tending the bar. The room was convenient and SO clean. Yes, it's definitely like a state park room, but it had all the convenience we needed and a bonus of SUPER comfy mattresses. We loved it! Even though it was a fluke we found it, we'll be back for our next visits. It's such an easy drive to Starkville from Tiak. There are also convenient gas stations and fast food close so we could gas up with no problem. and EVERYONE was SO nice there. We loved it!

I grew up in the area. Always loved and enjoyed lake Tia Khata. I had my wedding reception there, but sadly, the property has not been kept up. I was so disappointed with the motel rooms. The large parking lot where you have to park to go into the restaurant is filled with broken asphalt and inside is dated . Although there was some acquaintance to this that I remember it just like it was it felt sad and unkempt, But a lot of people were there to eat and enjoy the lake so it works for the area at this point in time maybe I’m just being a little snooty, but it seemed like I walked into the 1970s. With no upgrades!

Very scenic and peaceful. They have a swim area with a slide. My room s grouping was separate from the common type hotel. They also offer lakeside cabins and RV parking. I would love to go there just to be there!

The property has easy parking and nice beach and restaurant area. My family of 4 stayed there and enjoyed the food (both the dinner and breakfast buffett and the beach menu for lunch) and beach. The beach has a younger side area (small slide and splash waterfall), a bigger kid area (bigger slides and sports), and then all the stuff that's out in the lake for those that can swim. I plan on making an annual trip out of this area.

Third time staying at this property. Guests smoked marijuana, guests were loud! The light fixture in our room was hanging down. The room was not properly cleaned. Food was left in the refrigerator by previous guests. A bar of soap was left in the shower with hair on it. I’m sorry but we will not return. I’d recommend visiting, not staying over night. The back area of the property was loud and unsafe!!!!

Booked this place while doing work in the area. This place is aged, like old. The room was worn out. The tv was old, the furniture was old, the tile in the bathroom was dirty and like old old. I went and purchased shower shoes so that I didn’t contract fungus. The bed was worn out and had a huge dip in the middle white h made it impossible to sleep well. Woke up with back pain. The main building where the office and restaurant are looks like it is ready to crumble. The foundation has multiple cracks from the front to the back that are opened quite large. You have to step over them when you walk into the building. I had a hamburger steak from the restaurant and it was horrible, and it was expensive. Not worth the money. I will never stay here again.

Our front entry way was blocked with boxes, tables, radio placed on the window sill of our room blasting! Loud kids everywhere by our room. My husband couldn’t even park near our room due to the teenagers setting up registration tables with boxes everywhere in front of our room. The floor in the motel is not being mopped. I had dirt on the bottom of my feet just going from the shower to the bed! I had to wipe the bottom of my feet off before getting in the bed. The facets in the shower was stripped and we had to manipulate them to get the cold to even work. I couldn’t even rest when I came to my room in between meetings due to the level of noise at our door. I was very disappointed in our overall stay.

It was an interesting stay. We've stayed in the two double beds room, so this time decided to stay in the king room. The double beds will nearly break your back, but the king bed was by far a great bed. No issues. This stay however, the hot water heater went out and we had to be moved to another room. (I'm grateful they had another room) however, it was two double beds with the same issue. We love the lake, not the double beds :(

Third time staying. Nightmare with toilet. Could NOT use. Horrible. Called office reported and no one ever repaired. It totally would not fill up or flush. We like this area but the rooms need major plumbing repairs, old. The stay prior had issues with the shower.

Weekends Only... I requested a room on the top floor facing the lake. Even though there were only a couple cars in the entire parking lot of the motel, I was given a ground floor room NOT facing the lake. When checking in, the clerk's attention was only on her adult daughter behind the counter. When asked about the breakfast offered, I was told that it only applies to Fri/Sat night stays. When asked about the restaurant advertised as open 7 days per week, I was told it was closed during my stay. The lake was beautiful! The service was not.

It's such a good place to stay when going to visit MSU. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable. The entire property is tone travel back to the 1950s (in a good way). All you can eat buffet is really well priced and its a sunday destination for lunch.

I liked the convenience of parking. I liked how quiet it was. The cleaning staff was very nice. The lake was beautiful! The room was clean, but just outdated. The restaurant was right across the quiet street, but I hated that breakfast was only served on Saturday and Sunday. However, the breakfast buffet was very good, my husband reported! Overall, it was a nice stay!
