I stayed at Fairfield by Marriott in Stevensville, MI 2 nights this summer. The hotel is conveniently located near several fast food restaurants, the beach, & the town of St. Joe. The check-in process was quick and easy, the hotel lobby was very clean, as was my room & bathroom. It was nice to have free breakfast, although some of the food wasn’t very good. Additionally, my second morning there, the coffee was gone by 9:00a and the staff was not willing to refill it. Something to consider is some of the amenities listed on Expedia are not accurate. For instance, there is NOT a bar inside this hotel, nor is there a tennis court on site. Coffee is in the lobby area but only during breakfast through 9:30 (if they don’t run out). Overall, if you want a reasonably priced hotel to stay at in SW Michigan, I would recommend this one.

We stayed one night, on our way home from northern Michigan. The hotel is easy to find. Parking was ample. Check in went a bit longer than I thought it should, as the room was pre-paid. The desk clerk was not overly friendly, but she wasn’t unfriendly. The room was comfortable, especially the bedding. The shower was one of the better designs I’ve seen in a hotel bathroom and I enjoyed the shower. The breakfast was fairly typical, nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary. Some lines were rather long as people waited to access some of the more popular food items.

A little disappointed with the fact that the pool was closed, the sign on their front desk says “closed till 9/3” but we’re told that it’s closed till 9/10. Also their outside bonfire pit doesn’t work and apparently hasn’t for awhile so that was a bummer as well.

We were not informed that the elevators were broken until after we checked in... No compensation was offered for the inconvenience of having to "mule train" our luggage up the stairs Also our room smelled weird. It wasn't marijuana or cigarettes, but maybe mold or potentially rotting food left in the room. I have stayed at this hotel 3-4 times before since it was relatively new, but the last stay was not good.

The pool was closed. Look like it had been for a while. The bathroom in my room was dirty. The breakfast was the worst. Who ever is running breakfast that morning ether doesn’t know what they are going or was having a bad day. But there was nothing to grab waffles with. Ketchup bottles basically empty. There was 1 cream cheese for the entire breakfast rush and more than 1 person wanted it. There was no one at the desk to check out. I wanted a receipt but said screw it because no one was showing up to the desk.

Overall a bit disappointed in my room for the price I paid. But I will start with positives - clean lobby, exterior looks nice and well maintained, and breakfast was good. The hotel is in a good location as well. The negatives - The first room I got had a smell, was hot and muggy, and bathroom was dirty. I did mention this to staff and was given a new room which was appreciated. The second room also smelled and was muggy, and the air conditioner was loud. There were two sets of curtains, but the thicker blackout ones didn’t close all the way, so we couldn’t block out the bright lights from the car dealership outside that our room faced. And the lights at the dealership are on 24-7. I wasn’t notified if my room was ready earlier or not until arriving at the hotel. A bit disappointed, i dont like to leave reviews like this but this was my experience.

Checked in about 8-8:30pm. Lobby lights were turned out for the night. Had already booked and paid through Hotels.com, but was asked to swipe card at front desk. Room was nice. Modern and fresh looking. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom had a few hairs in the shower, left by previous guests. Shower was stocked with liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner . Soap was empty. After returning from our trip, we noticed the hotel had charged my card for the room, on top of what Hotels.com did. I called the hotel several times and never got anyone to answer the telephone. I contacted Marriott and opened a case regarding the double charge. I was told I would hear from the actual hotel we stayed in, by the following weekend. We were never contacted, but the second charge was credited back to our card. Not sure what was going on but be sure to check your statements after your stay. Overall a nice place, but being double charged with no explanation doesn't make me comfortable.

I was pretty impressed with my stay. Everything was really nice for the most part. I realized the next morning that our sheets were dirty (we had gotten in really late). The coffee at breakfast wasn't great but there was a pretty good selection of food (not vegan friendly tho).

The hotel was not clean at all. The pool looked filthy, the public restrooms had diarrhea all over 1 stahl and no t.p. in the other. The next day the diarrhea was STILL THERE! There wasnt soap in the public bathroom either. Just filthy. The breakfast was warm, at best but thete was a variety to choose from if you lile your food cool. The room did not have kleenex, there were water spots all over the shower..it did not look clean!! The mirror had smears all over it! As others had commented, the room smelled musty when we walked in. Im glad I read previous reviews and brought my own pillow! I try to give a hotel like the Marriott the benefit of the doubt but the reviews on this one was right on! One plus..the staff was sweet. We had to wait quite awhile to check in because noone was at the desk because there was a water issue in the hotel that was not the employees fault. I wish i had something else positive to say. Never again! Marriott should be ashamed!

We really like Fairfield inn’s but this one was the worst we have ever stayed in. The hotel wasn’t old and seemed newer and updated however the cleanliness and wear and tear of the rooms were pretty poor. Upon arrival, the entry way and doors had garbage and trash. Leaves were blowing in side. Could have used a little house keeping. Once we got to our room, right outside our door in the hallway looked like someone washed a bunch of tissues in their pockets and shook them all out on the floor. Upon entering the room we noticed that the carpets had not been vacuumed, more small pieces of tissue, pieces of paper, as well as dead bugs and a pair of old dried crunchy contact lens were on the floor next to the bed. Clearly NOT vacuumed. The sheets and towels seemed cleaned and fresh thank goodness. The curtains were ripped and stained. Couple spots on the walls looked like someone had blew their nose on it. The room could use a deep cleaning for sure. If we come back to the area we will be trying a different hotel. I wouldn’t come back to this location.

Two out of the three lamps in the room, the only lighting at all in the room did not work. Including the outlets built into the lamps. The outlets on the left side of the bed also did not work. On the website it advertised breakfast starting at 630AM which was one of the reasons we booked the hotel as we had to leave before 7AM. Only to find out at check in breakfast did not start until 7AM. The room was clean and comfortable.

Upon trying to check in on 8/4, there was a sign on front door saying no check ins till 6:30pm. Once inside, female at front desk informed us, nobody showed up to work today and no rooms would be available till 7pm. Additionally manager had left and another employee had left to go pick up cleaning crews to clean rooms. When we returned at 7:45pm, there were 3 families waiting for rooms in line at desk. Female took us up to 3rd floor and started checking to see if rooms were unoccupied and or clean for us to stay in. My family stayed in room 319. The room and rest of the night was fine. However upon checking out the next morning, we found out that we were never checked in and they weren't sure whether we would be charged with a no show fee. Not sure how this happens at a Marriot. The staff we dealt with were doing the best that they could and were personable and nice. Have never experienced this kind of chaos when arriving or checking out of a national chain hotel. We booked this Marriott to exclude ourselves from the questionable other lower quality hotels in area to allow for no hassle, stress free environment

It was horrible the keys didn’t work i was also doubled charged and wasn’t even able to get a new room until 4am so my experience was not pleasant and they didn’t offer me anything for my troubles or my time being wasted as well as my money since I technically didn’t even stay at the room

I’ve stayed here several times. It’s a nice hotel. I recommend it. But they seemed off their game for this trip. Missing shower curtain liner. No pillows on one bed. Missing washcloths. The breakfast also needed attention. Cold coffee. Hard breakfast sandwiches.

The breakfast was a disaster. They ran out of food at breakfast. They could not keep with bringing out food, juice or coffee. The front desk has to go into a back room to get you a key card. They don't have the machine at the front counter. I don't think they have enough employees.

We had a great stay nice staff I only found the main hallway in floor 3 to have a very odd smell but the room didn't have the smell. Their breakfast area could of also used more room for food. We had to wait for them to replenish quite often.
