We were very impressed with this lovely hotel! Parking was right across the street. staff was extremely helpful and kind, the room was exactly what we needed after a long day of travel, nice and quiet. Highly recommend.

The friendly staff was efficient and welcoming. All guest rooms are on the second floor (staircase only, no elevator). This historic hotel has been upgraded for modern convenience. The rooms were clean and comfortable and quite cute. The bathroom had a beautiful walk-in shower. Note there is no in-room fridge or microwave so plan accordingly. The only reason I didn’t give this property a 5-star review was because it had no operating bar or restaurant. The facilities were there and quite dramatic. I was told the dining should be resumed soon. I can see how it might be difficult to run a fine dining restaurant in such a small town. At age 78 and 79 we were perplexed at no bellman, baggage cart nor elevator. A set of steep stairs and very long walk to last room. Unsecured parking across the street. No breakfast other than a cup of coffee and granola bar to go!

This is a quaint hotel in a small town. No elevator so carrying luggage upstairs could be difficult. The room was small but we were there for one night and it was not a problem. A longer stay it might be an issue.

Room was a nice smaller room either for an individual or a couple, 2nd floor would certainly not be beneficial to someone with disabilities or perhaps if they were a 'bigger' person. Overall very clean and nice, great German themed restaurant around the corner.

The hotel is spotless and well maintained. I don't look for frills and luxury when choosing a hotel. Cleanliness and comfort are what I'm interested in. The Sherman in is a no frills hofel that was immaculate and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is no elevator and all guest rooms are on the second floir. This didn't affect our stay but would if you were disabled. Plenty of SAFE parking is available and convenient to the hotel. This was a very enjoyable stay!

It met my needs-'clean, quiet and comfortable with an old wprld charm. It would've been nice to have had a list of local restaurants, grocery, etc in the room along woth a mini fridge. The clerk was friendly and explained the procedure to get in/out when no one was available

Staying in the historic Sherman Inn in December was completely delightful, and a light snowfall this morning only added to the Christmas charm! Our room was sparkling clean, as was the bathroom. Simple, elegant decor, with wonderful black and white vintage photographs of Batesville throughout the inn. We enjoyed walking through the town, seeing all the beautiful old red brick architecture and twinkling lights.

We visited for a night for our anniversary. It was a great hotel, we enjoyed the architecture and the biergarten. From our room, you couldn't hear the band that was playing in the biergarten and it was nice and quiet (only noise was a few people in the street below after the bar closed, but we didn't find it too loud or disruptive) . Room had an updated bathroom and still kept many of the historic features. Staff were all very friendly, offered a grab and go breakfast, helped us set up the tv, and gave good food recommendations.

The staff was very friendly & helpful; the property is beautiful, but it would be nicer if the onsite restaurant &/or bar were in operation. Also, this time we lucked out & got one of the larger rooms, but relatives who were staying the same night had a very small room. (I understand that the uniqueness of the rooms is part of the charm, but can also be disappointing sometimes.)

The hotel is almost empty. We had to call for someone to come for the front desk and she was attentive and got us our room immediately. However, the advertisement had shown restaurants and a beer garden there, and all of those had closed a while ago. In at some point, it was an amazing charming place feels like it is just about ready to close up.

A marvelous old hotel that has been made into a unique boutique hotel. There was a slight misunderstanding with my reservation and the manager owned the problem and went out of his way to correct it to more than my satisfaction. I would stay there again, and probably will.

We loved the hotel and the character of it! Our biggest disappointment was the lack of restaurant and bar. We understood that it was hard for the owners to get help. They were working hard to fix the issue. The staff provided all sorts of information to help us with our stay. We will stay there again.

Our choices in hotels is usually hit and miss. Once we stepped inside, my husband and I were amazed by the architecture. The beautiful dark wood and the old smell was what intrigued me. The smell wasn't bad, it actually brought back great memories of my grandparents basement. They were rock hounds and had turned it into a shop to sell the items they made. The room was so comfy and inviting. The service was excellent! If you're looking for a great place to get away from life, this is it!

The Sherman is conveniently located within walking distance to a coffee shop, a bar/grill restaurant and some little shops. Free parking is just across the street. The friendly staff was efficient and welcoming. All guest rooms are on the second floor (staircase only, no elevator). This historic hotel has been upgraded for modern convenience. The rooms were clean and comfortable and quite cute. The bathroom had a beautiful walk-in shower. Note there is no in-room fridge or microwave so plan accordingly. The only reason I didn’t give this property a 5-star review was because it had no operating bar or restaurant. The facilities were there and quite dramatic. I was told the dining should be resumed soon. I can see how it might be difficult to run a fine dining restaurant in such a small town. Overall, I loved the quaintness and plan to return again to enjoy this fine hotel.

Boutique hotel, right in the heart of Batesville. Walkable to some restaurants, a nice coffee shop, and other businesses. Beds are new and comfortable. I enjoyed meeting the owner and one of the partners and hearing about the history of the hotel.

The room was clean. Bed comfortable and got a good night sleep. Disappointed that didn’t have restaurant or bar in hotel. There is a bier garten attached. The hotel is a historical listing. If you want a good night sleep this will be a good choice.

We visited for a night for our anniversary. It was a great hotel, we enjoyed the architecture and the biergarten. From our room, you couldn't hear the band that was playing in the biergarten and it was nice and quiet (only noise was a few people in the street below after the bar closed, but we didn't find it too loud or disruptive) . Room had an updated bathroom and still kept many of the historic features. Staff were all very friendly, offered a grab and go breakfast, helped us set up the tv, and gave good food recommendations.

The hotel is almost empty. We had to call for someone to come for the front desk and she was attentive and got us our room immediately. However, the advertisement had shown restaurants and a beer garden there, and all of those had closed a while ago. In at some point, it was an amazing charming place feels like it is just about ready to close up.

At age 78 and 79 we were perplexed at no bellman, baggage cart nor elevator. A set of steep stairs and very long walk to last room. Unsecured parking across the street. No breakfast other than a cup of coffee and granola bar to go!

Great location in downtown Batesville. Hotel originally built in the mid-19th century and seen several modifications. No elevator to second floor rooms and hallways date from long ago but my room was really charming. Would stay there again.

I LOVE this hotel! Have stayed a few times when traveling the area for work. They have the NICEST, friendliest and most helpful staff. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. I will definitely stay again!!
