Short visit catching up with friends for a day at Nottingham races. Very well appointed hotel with plenty of parking and a pub on site in a separate building. Very welcoming staff and a good range of food and beers. Could not fault the place

Well situated property, quiet but with accessible transport links in to the city - regular buses at stops very close to the accommodation. The room was fairly standard, clean and spacious with a tub and rain shower. The Gamston Lock pub serves good food at reasonable prices, I would recommend booking as it is popular. Staff at both the pub and accommodation were pleasant and very helpful.

I was able to charge my car onsite, the staff were polite & knowledgeable & the rooms very comfortable.

Great accommodation plenty of parking if your driving then handy and frequent bus service into the city.

Visiting my son at uni in Nottingham. Well located....£2 bus into city centre and £10 uber back. Clean, welcoming staff, comfy bed, easy free parking (with electric hook up option and good cheap breakfast. Perfect for what we needed. Only thing worth mentioning is that 2pm check in is not flexible unless prearranged (fair enough and not a complaint).

Last Minute booking. Restauarant on site with a good selection of food reasonably priced. Bonus was EV charging on site, which was not advertised, good selling point for a lot of people

Badly stained carpets in bedroom and not the cleanest of places.

My first time visiting and staying at this place, the entire stay was perfect from the friendly staff to the cleanliness of the room. And awesome pub with great food.

When we first arrived staff were very friendly. Our family room that we were originally booked into had a terrible smell and didn't look like it had been cleaned. We were given a system room which was so much better. Breakfast in the morning was good. However the morning of checkout we were left waiting a while during breakfast/ drinks etc due to little staff and / or staff member talking to family or friends. Other than that the room was a great location to where or friends lived.

Very comfortable room and king-size bed. All quite new and clean, including the bathroom.

We have stayed at the Gamston Lock on many occasions and always found it to be a decent place. However this time it had gone down hill dramatically. The room was dirty, hairs in the bath that we had to clean before we could use it, hairs under the toilet seat even in the sink and on the bedding. There was only one bath towels so one of us had to use a hand towel when we came out of the shower. The table in the room was dirty and in need of a good wipe. One of the cups was dirty and needed washing. The main automatic door in to the hotel area was broken and was left open all night even though there is no reception area or anyone to keep an eye on it. There was a coke bottle dumped in that area that was there for the duration. In the morning when we went to the restaurant for breakfast there was a huddle of staff in the corner of the restaurant, one of which was on a very loud video call with someone so the whole restaurant could hear. Someone decided to wash the floor in a busy thoroughfare through the toilets which made it absolutely lethal, regardless of whether they put a sign out, they should have been doing this before the restaurant opened.

Hotel nice but not clean. Covered in dust. Telly cables hanging under the to. Shower leaking all over the place and scum all round the pipes. Person above us found it acceptable to dance around their room all night long until it was time for us to get up and there was no where open to complain

The hotel room was like the standard room you get today as in the layout a bit like most hotels. The check in is quick with no issues you do this in the pub. The room was for some reason an accessible room, the bathroom had an odour of urine and when I looked why I could see the waste at the back of the toilet had a leak and the floor was stained, the room was very tired and is in desperate need of decorating the walls are marked with general marks from being brushed up against etc the wall by the kettle has water marks running down from desk height to floor the base of the bed has some sort of mark on it and the curtains do too. The aircon is in need of service and bearly changes the room temp, it also switches itself off. We were given 2 single beds pushed together with 2 single quilts instead of a double. Poor tea facilities kettle not fitting under the tap very well just add to the issues here. This could be a lovelly place to stay but needs to be cleaned, decorated and then cleanliness needs to be moved to the top of the priority list. It was expensive and I expected a little more, on the whole it was disappointing in my opinion. The pub is a nice pub we didn’t use it except for breakfast which was good. Next time I think I would stay elsewhere.

Lovely hotel and a great location. The restaurant served so.e really tasty food. The only issues we had was even though it was clean it could do with a bit more dusting because the light fittings and toilet rolls holder was a little dusty

I am regular visitor of Gamston Lock due to the service we get from staff and the quality and cleanliness of the rooms.

The man who checked us in was lovely, very helpful and friendly. The room its self was a good size, the beds were very comfortable too. The room was clean, although there were marks on the wall and a bit of mould on the ceiling. The bathroom had mouldy sealant around the bath, and the bath panel was rotting at the bottom. All in all it was a good price and good location.

Overall very nice stay, Tv signal poor to the point some main channels couldn't be watched. Pipe work from mains water or air con very lound from 5am and for the price i would have expected to be able to have a cup of tea with more than one sugar.

We've stayed at Gamston Lock many times over the years and until now have found everything to be really good. However, this year the TV in our room did not work. We had two channels and when I tried to switch it off it kept coming back on. The manager said it was due to the weather. I suspect it was the set, which could be a potential fire hazard. Also for a family room the bathroom was tiny. No space to deal with kids. Food however was great, bed comfortable.

Hotel room was clean and tidy beds was comfortable but could hear people up and down corridors all night along with doors slamming

We stayed for 2 nights , room comfortable, large bed, bit of noise from main pub extract fans. Food excellent, plenty of parking. Staff friendly and efficient. Will come again.

I was in room 105 which is next to the entrence therefor it was noisy as people left and entered the building

Boiling hot and stuffy, with a really thick winter weight duvet. Got very little sleep, as the outside heat pumps are right below the window, open the window for air and you listen to what sounds like a diesel engine switching on and off constantly. Air con in the room presumably hasn't been serviced since the place was built, had to switch it off as it speeds 1-2 didn't work at all and speed 3 sounded like it was going to explode.

Good stopover hotel with easy access to motorway. Attached to pub that looked busy but no noise in the room.

Comfy room, with everything you will need.

We stayed for 2 nights and the room wasn't cleaned when we returned at 6:00 pm and when I mentioned to the manager, they only offered to clean it at that time but that meant we leave the room which wasn't what we were looking after being away all day and my daughter wasn't feeling well and the room was cold too. when I asked for compensation I was told they can not offer anything. I paid £198 for 2 nights for a small room which was not cleaned during our stay and the room was cold as there was no heating during the day. I won't stay here again

Woken by the beer kegs been delivered at 7am, mentioned when checking out, the man was rude and dismissive Also key access failed on Sunday night, when going into bar was greeted with the words ‘I wanted an early night’ Poor customer service

Good value for money. Rooms good size and clean. good bathroom, very clean. Great staff team. In particular thanks to Andrew for keeping kitchen open so we could get an evening meal just as they were due to close. Special mention to Tracey for looking after us so well at Breakfast and providing such a warm welcome each morning.

Warm welcome, full introduction of amenities and area, even help with local bus service. Room spotless and warm. Breakfast excellent; incredible value.

Room was clean and a decent size. Food (evening meal) was reasonable, although beer was expensive. In general staff were polite and helpful, although in the morning when I tried to get a receipt I waited for around 5 minutes and despite someone looking at me on 2 or 3 occasions, no one came over to ask if I needed anything so I left. I was contemplating breakfast as well, but as they could not be bothered to welcome me in I decided to go elsewhere.

The pub and the rooms were very nice but the service needs to improve. We had booked a table for three of us for our first night but when we arrived, someone else was sitting at that table and the staff didn't seem to care. We were offered another table in the 'dog friendly' part of the pub but refused it. One of the staff said (rather indignantly) that the whole of the pub was 'dog friendly' which seems odd as that is not what the sign said. Throughout our stay there was a black dog running around the dining areas which was annoying but we were told that it was the Manager's dog so nothing could be done about it. The TV in my wife's room was not working and when we reported it, the staff said 'yes, we have a lot of trouble with our TVs'. We would have preferred 'yes, we will fix it'. It was not fixed. The staff have a rather casual attitude and need to remember who the customer is.

Great ideal location to stay and park, for travel into the city for the arena. Super quiet hotel rooms too.

Excellent hotel, service is great, food in pub is spot on. One word of warning, and this is an expedia issue is that the pin location that they have set for this hotel is 1.8 miles off, meaning if you are there for an event you are 35-40 minutes walk away from where you thought you was. Very misleading. Not the hotels fault but there is nowhere else to put this. Hotel was spot on, thank you

A good 3 star hotel. Large car park, Convenient for Nottingham City. Clean comfortable room with most of the usual amenites. Good choice of meals in resturant next to accomodation. Noisy road as its next to the ring road but not too bad

good location for city

Ideal location for Trent bridge and the city ground. About a 25 minute walk. Hotel is functional but we didn't spend much time in there. The pub and restaurant is very good, food is excellent and reasonable priced, tidy breakfast also.

My only criticism would be that it stated it was a 6 minute walk to Trent Bridge and City Ground, this was actually 30 minutes, so quite misleading

We had a nice stay but sadly my partner and I were awoken at 7am by someone using a loud garden strimmer. Called the front desk to see if trimming the grass could be delayed and was told the person doing it would be moved to a different area to give us some peace and quiet, but the person kept strimming near us anyway. Bit of a shame as we'd had a late night and were looking forward to a lie in. The room was very nice though. Whilst dinner was nothing to write home about, the breakfast was excellent.

Excellent as always. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast staff are exceptional and the breakfast it self is such good value for money. Will stay again.

I would stay there again. The room was nice and clean and the bathroom was better than most. We had a shower over the bath but the bath had a non-slip surface and the shower was good. The food choice in the evening was limited for vegetarians and I had a steak which was rather chewy, At breakfast the coffee machine didn't work but the food was OK,

Had a good stay at this hotel. Room was noisy due to being by the front door. Would not want room 106 again. Really comfy bed. Clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was great, but the floor, table and the chairs were all not clean.

The hotel was excellent and our meal at the restaurant was very good on the Thursday evening (the first of our 2 night stay). Unbeknown to us the Friday evening was Karaoke night. The behaviour was awful, the noise prevented any chance of an enjoyable meal and we would not trust visiting this venue again.

A good quality hotel attached to the pub/restaurant. Very clean and comfortable room with a large bath. Perfect after a long hard day!

10/10 couldn’t be better! Such great value for money, and the staff were super helpful. Lovely breakfast for only £8 each, the room was clean and large. We’ll definitely be back if near the area.
