The location was easy walking distance to everything, be it the waterfront, tram or major sights. There is a neighborhood feeling and hundreds of dining opportunities. The staff is friendly, helpful and efficient, they will help with information about your surroundings and even give you a decent map to find your way around as well as arranging airport transfer. breakfast was pleantiful and on par with other Istanbul hotels. The beds were comfortable and our room had a terrace which allowed us to sit and enjoy a beverage at the end of the day while we watched and listened to the wonderful city of Istanbul around us. The only hiccup for us was that the hotel was fully booked, I move a lot when I sleep and for some reason the availability of full size sheets was limited as a result our (extremely comfortable) bed was dressed with 2 twin sheets horizontally as the bottom sheet which left me wound up under the sheets in the mornings not a big deal but a bit of a head scratcher. A small inconvenience for a great hotel at a reasonable price

Located in a tourist-friendly location, Ahmet Efendi Konagi provides a pleasant stay. As a solo traveller, I valued their early check-in, which was set up with just a phone call. The Sultanahmet Mosque and Hagia Sophia and many other attractions were nearby, making it easy to explore the city, thanks to the good transport connections. You could pay by cash or card here and they did not charge extra for my early accommodation. Despite being heavy on meat, the breakfast table included plenty of vegetarian options, such as fruits, salads, fresh juice and cheeses. Mr. Deniz and his staff were really kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and housekeeping was optional. They accommodate most of your requests and I personally was very comfortable there. The staff spoke English and it was a little easier for me to communicate since I spoke a little Turkish. They also had a cloak room to keep your luggage in case you need to go somewhere after checkout. All things considered, Ahmet Efendi Konagi guarantees a convenient and comfortable stay in Istanbul. I would definitely consider staying here again when I visit Istanbul next time.

Sadece 1 gece kaldım. Özbek kardeşim Muhammet karşıladı çok temiz,iyi niyetli bir genç arkadaşımız otopark konusunda da yardımcı oldu, kahvaltıyı beğendim güzeldi. Diğer odalardan ve dışardan ses geliyor ama bu otelin değil İstanbul'un dar sokakları sıkışık yerleşimiyle alakalı. Hijyen konusunda üst seviyede odalar,çarşaflar çok temizdi oteldeki tüm çalışan emekçilere ve otel sahiplerine çok teşekkür ederim.

If you are coming from the airport use the hotel to organise a shuttle as taxi drivers can be a bit hesitant when they get to the narrow streets. Don’t want to be walking and dragging luggage.

Super sauber, sicher, unkompliziert. Super Frühstück! Super günstig!! In belebtem Viertel mit zahlreichen Restaurants gelegen. Zu Fuß kommt man gut zur Hagia Sophia und zum alten Basar. Richtung Galatan etc. ist es etwas weiter - zu Fuß 40 min., mit dem Bus auch etwas beschwerlich. Trotzdem große Empfehlung!

Ein angenehmer Aufenthalt. Zimmer sauber und für einen Alleinreisenden in der Größe ausreichend. Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Viele Lokale und kleine Läden in der näheren Umgebung. Wer normale Ansprüche an eine Unterkunft hat, ist hier gut untergebracht. Würde das Hotel wieder buchen.

Otel genel olarak kabul edilebilirsen mahalle olarak konumu insana güven vermiyor. Mobilyalar oldukça basit ve eskimeye başlamış. İyi tarafları ise; banyo görceli olarak yeniydi, sıcak su kolay erişilebilirdi. Yatak rahattı Alez ve çarşaflar temizdi ama alez ve yatakta bir kaç adet saç vardı. Kahvaltı vasattı. Görsellerdeki kadar zengin değildi.

Nettes kleines Hotel, geputzt wurde immer sehr gründlich, der ein oder anderen Schimmel-Ecke ist man trotz Chlorreiniger nicht ganz Herr geworden. Etwas gestört hat uns, dass sämtliche Elektronik nur mit eingesteckter Zimmerkarte funktioniert hat, unter anderem auch die Klimaanlage. Diese wurde zusätzlich noch nachts ausgeschaltet, weil es ja abends noch kühl genug in Istanbul sei. Da hätten wir uns gewünscht, dass man dies selbst entscheiden kann, vor allem in einem der Sonne zugeneigten Zimmer. Aber sonst ein gemütliches Hotel in netter Lage auch wenn man bei den umgebenden Restaurants immer sehr genau vorher auf die Preise und die Qualität achten musste.

We spend for days at the hotel it was clean food was good and the neighbourhood is safe and very friendly across the street is a bar with man playing cards and drinking Chai everything is reachable by foot. Hoteltransfer was fair. The hotel staff was also friendly and approachable. All in all a nice hotel in a nice area. would do again.

I loved this hotel, right in the center square with the train station practically next door, easy for transport to tram, metro, buses, water taxis. Shops so many restaurants and cafes, the area is so friendly. Breakfast was simple but very nice. Rooms were spotless. Very modern . Massive balcony (that has to be booked) I would definitely stay there again.

Decent hotel and a short walk from Sultanahmet mosque as well as the Grand Bazaar. Some parts around the hotel look dubious but good restaurants at a short walk. Nevertheless, felt safe walking at night. Room was warm and not to our liking since the central heating was on though temperatures outside was 12C+ but that just comes down to individual preferences. Main issue was the wi-fi which didn’t work for the first few hours and then kept dropping after the IP address configuration was manually entered (with help from the reception). Ultimately, figured out that the issue was due to everyone being given the same IP address information by the reception leading to IP address conflict! Fixed it by using a slightly different IP address

Can’t fault the staff here, very friendly and helpful. Very good value for money, although my only complaint will be the air conditioning unit in the room was not working (it was pretty warm to sleep and my kids were complaining) However I didn’t ask them to have a look at if as we were out of the room all day and only got back pretty late every evening. Location was very good, won’t cost much in a taxi to go to Suleymaniye area where most of the main attractions were located. But try not to get taxis that are parked and waited for a long time for a customer. If you flagged a taxi by the roadside (which has plenty of taxis passing by) the fares will be 4 times cheaper. And if you’re on a budget, try to go to restaurants that are a bit further away from the touristic areas, learned my lesson when I have to pay almost £60 just for simple breakfast for me and my 2 kids nearby the Blue Mosque! If you’re after spices, nuts, bakalawa, Turkish delights and other souvenirs I would suggest going to the Egyptian Bazaar as The Grand Bazaar is such an overpriced place, although it’s nice to go for the experience and of course there’s more choices there. My kids hated it though, too big, overcrowded and so many people smoking indoors so it’s not pleasant to be there for too long. Overall, my stay at the property was pleasant, and I will go back and stay there if I ever come back to Istanbul 👍

A quite small hotel located in between Grand Bazaar and Kumpaki metro station. It’s clean, with basic hotel room, providing standard breakfast, only disadvantage is don’t have AC but have hot heat fan. We went in April 2025, although it was cold, at night it got hot and had to have windows open.
A quite small hotel located in between Grand Bazaar and Kumpaki metro station. It’s clean, with basic hotel room, providing standard breakfast, only disadvantage is don’t have AC but have hot heat fan. We went in April 2025, although it was cold, at night it got hot and had to have windows open.

At 1st, I was put in a room that looked like a walk-in closet, with a single bed and 50cm space around it. The hotel was overheated, it was impossible to control the temperature of the AC because the manager set all of them to heating mode. There was a noisy chimney at the side of the window, so I couldn't keep it open. After 2 nights in hell Expedia Team helped me to get a room where I could finally sleep. The hotel is 15- 20 minutes walk UP HILL from the closest public transportation. Kumkapi used to be a charming fisherfolk neighbourhood but is decayed. Dirty streets, with shops selling counterfeits and very noisy restaurants that are mostly tourist traps.

The location was easy walking distance to everything, be it the waterfront, tram or major sights. There is a neighborhood feeling and hundreds of dining opportunities. The staff is friendly, helpful and efficient, they will help with information about your surroundings and even give you a decent map to find your way around as well as arranging airport transfer. breakfast was pleantiful and on par with other Istanbul hotels. The beds were comfortable and our room had a terrace which allowed us to sit and enjoy a beverage at the end of the day while we watched and listened to the wonderful city of Istanbul around us. The only hiccup for us was that the hotel was fully booked, I move a lot when I sleep and for some reason the availability of full size sheets was limited as a result our (extremely comfortable) bed was dressed with 2 twin sheets horizontally as the bottom sheet which left me wound up under the sheets in the mornings not a big deal but a bit of a head scratcher. Extremely affordable, central location and a vibrant neighborhood. Close to all the main attractions, yet very reasonable price. Plenty of food options close to the hotel, even until midnight. Great breakfast, and an extremely helpful staff. Thank you for the hospitality.

We were quite surprised to see the rating given to this just ordinary, inconveniently located hotel. When we arrived at the hotel in the evening, the taxi unloaded our luggage at the door of the hotel.We approached the most uncouth manager to arrange the luggages to be taken to our room, he said they don't have anybody to help me, we had to carry ourselves our luggages to the second floor of the hotel. This unsmiling manager is the only person in the reception. I can keep on writing about our bad experience regarding the hotel. My request to you, please don't give fictitious ratings to undeserving hotel, you would lose credibility. Thanks.

This hotel has good location. I review it as poor because of two things. First was the unfriendly front desk staffs (an older guy even turned his back on us instead of opening the door for us when he saw us at the entrance). Second thing was a badly coughing woman worked in kitchen served breakfast for two mornings of our stay. I then got the virus and coughed my head off during my rest trip in Turkey. She was sick so shouldn’t serve food.

I loved this hotel, right in the center square with the train station practically next door, easy for transport to tram, metro, buses, water taxis. Shops so many restaurants and cafes, the area is so friendly. Breakfast was simple but very nice. Rooms were spotless. Very modern . Massive balcony (that has to be booked) I would definitely stay there again.

Kumkapı bölgesinde olması nedeniyle gece güvenlik ve gürültü endişemiz vardı. Ancak bu endişelerimizin yersiz olduğunu anladık. Çok yakında gürültülü mekanlar olmasına rağmen gayet rahat bir konaklama oldu. Otelin 50m yakınında banliyö treni istasyonu var ve rahatlıkla Sirkeci 'ye erişilebiliyor. Tarihi yarımadaya ise 15 dakika yürüme ile ulaşabiliyorsunuz. Bence fiyat performans noktasında çok iyi bir tercih. Sınıfına ve fiyatına göre gayet güzel hizmet veriyor.

If you are coming from the airport use the hotel to organise a shuttle as taxi drivers can be a bit hesitant when they get to the narrow streets. Don’t want to be walking and dragging luggage.

The rooms are very small and the bathroom always had drainage smell, but thats not the issue. The bathroom toilet paper hanger was broken, the towel hanger was also broken. It was too hot at night for us, but they said they cannot turn on ac because it was still cold outside. The staff were nice, but there is no concierge. The breakfast was same for everyday. And was mid. The area was nice! I just wish we had a better room and more space.
