Check in was easy and people were friendly. The room however, smelled like something had died in it. I even checked under the bed to see if there was something dead. No bodies but I did find a pair of dirty socks. Overall it was an ok experience but the room smelled horribly even after leaving the door open for 2hrs to air it out. I won’t be returning.

I was very impressed with the grand traverse motel, it was so much more than I expected. The room was large, very clean, and the property was very well kept. It was well centered where we could easily get downtown and enjoy the shopping and excellent restaurants. We definitely will plan a future vacation there.

No phone, only one comfortable chair, shelves with towels was too high. The carpeting was filthy, looked like the only remedy would be to replace it. Bathroom floor was also dirty. The bed seemed ok, but did not make up for tnr floor. We will never stay here again.

Our stay at the Grand Traverse Motel was thoroughly enjoyable. Though the room was on the small side, it was very clean. The best thing about it was how well the air conditioning unit cooled the room during sleep hours. (This is consistently a problem at many other facilities.). The care for the motel is evident from the outside environment that is nicely decorated and the grounds are well cared for.

Loved the retro vibe of this place! Bed was very comfortable with good quality linens. Room was very clean and well maintained with a quiet air conditioner as well as an air purifier. Bathroom is a good size, very clean and the water pressure of the shower is awesome. There is a large fridge/freezer in the room which is very convenient. Bus stop is close if you need other transportation but this property is walking distance to Clinch park and shopping/dining on Front street. We would definitely stay again!

The updates to the room and bathroom are excellent. Great bed! Wonderful to have a full sized fridge. Super friendly staff members. Our only suggestion is to have better light-blocking on both windows.

They charge 45 for a pet. Our dog is a service dog. You’re not supposed to charge for a service dog. I paid the 45 with my debit card. When I looked at my online banking the hotel had charged me an extra hundred dollars, which is right out stealing!!!! I have called my bank and they are going to dispute it just a warning the people at that motel will steal the money right out of your pocket!

Check-in and room were perfect! But the check-out was a disaster. I asked where I could go for a good omelet in the morning, and then walked a few blocks to the place recommended by the person in the Reception. When I returned (around 9:30am), my room door was open, and my personal items and luggage had been messed with. The receptionist said that I had left my room key in the Reception (which I didn't) and therefore he assumed that I had left the hotel. The $5 tip that I left for the maid where taken from the envelope on which I had written that the drain of the bathroom sink should be unclogged. My plan to use the bathroom after returning from my walk and rest for a few minutes before checking out went out the window. I don't like anyone touching my toothbrush and other personal items, or putting them in my suitcase which I had left opened, of course. The towels were gone, the bedding were taken from the bed, the window shades were open, all without my authorization. I was so upset that I left unopened items in the refrigerator, and I had to stop and buy new ones for the next leg of my otherwise perfect trip.

Older motel, but nice, clean rooms, and good location. Depending on where you wanted to go, the main downtown area was about a mile - a few blocks. I walked there and back without any issue, but some might think it was a long walk because it was not within a block or 2, but there were other things closer by.

The motel is in a great location at the base of Mission Point Peninsula/wine trail and not far from the downtown shops of Traverse City. I think you could walk to the bay--we didn't, but it looked nearby. The front desk staff was very kind.
