The Wayside Inn

This was an exceptional overnight stay. Private balcony with chairs overlooking grass and river. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was served at table instead of self service.

The Wayside Inn is located just east of Bethlehem between Rte. 302 and the Ammonoosuc River. I stayed in the main building and felt like I got the nicest room in the place. While it reminded me of my Grandma's House, the internet worked great. If you want modern, this isn't it. If you like historic, old-fashioned, and the best free breakfast. You will like The Wayside Inn.

Loved the food. The bar was quaint and comfortable. All staff was attentive and kind. The view from our room with the river running close by was wonderful.

We booked two rooms, one in the main inn and the other in the little strip of motels rooms. The inn is Very old but I found it very pleasant. The inn has two living rooms downstairs set up for the guest to use .The floors can be a little uneven and squeaky, but this is an old inn. The room we had in the inn was upstairs. it had two twin beds and a private bath. It was air-conditioned, and the air conditioner was very quiet. But it did not have a TV or a small refrigerator. The motel room was bigger. It had two full-size beds, a small refrigerator, and a TV and a nice little balcony that overlooked the river in the back of the hotel. The complementary breakfast was very nice, it was cooked your order and the dining room had beautiful views of the little river running behind the inn. I would definitely stay here again .I love the atmosphere. if you’re looking for all the amenities that the bigger motels offer this inn may not be for you.

Will definitely stay here again. We recommend eating dinner at the hotel. If possible get a room overlooking the river. Nice location and dog friendly.

our group had 2 annex rooms for 2 nights. The view off the balconies was great, that was the saving grace of our stay. One room did not have heat and they were given a space heater and told it would be fixed the next day, but it wasn't. The other room had a shattered plastic shower bar with sharp plastic pieces on floor to step on. Pillows very flat, mattresses OK at best. Both rooms were tired looking. Breakfast service very slow, the server was in the room busy clearing tables but didn't even bring us coffee for over a 1/2 hour, then the pot was cold, all the food was cold by the time it got to us. The bar was open when we checked in but about to close, it was never open our second night, so relaxing with a cocktail wasn't possible like we expected.

It's kind of a quirky place with stairs that have a high rise, so a big steps up. Warning, if you're in the main building take a smaller bag to carry up whatever you need for the night. I wouldn't even try to get my suitcase up those stairs. The rooms are nicely decorated, however there were no curtains and the blinds although I managed to lower them, they were missing parts and I couldn't raise them once they were lowered. The bed had a sprung mattress which was really squeaky and I was surprised to discover there was no TV in the room, however they have a comfortable common room with a TV if you don't mind socializing. The wifi was good so if you have a laptop you're fine. The setting on the river looks amazing, but it actually sits on a pretty busy highway so I got to listen to transport trucks all night. It has a newer out building, however I have no idea what those units are like. The dining room has a lovely view of the river and bridge, and the food was good, but don't expect tablecloths and fancy table settings. It's a small family run inn and I can see they are trying very hard to make it a comfortable, homey inn and it does have a cozy feeling. The price is great in comparison with other hotels in the area and having the restaurant makes it worth booking. I suggest you call directly and request a room on the river side if you're a light sleeper.

Sarah was great. Probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had because it’s cooked fresh to order and not just the continental slop that you get at most places.

Wonderful kind staff at check in. Kitchen was closed for dinner for our date (certain days of the week I guess) which we didn’t know—which defeats the point for us as we were only staying the night. So after driving 6 hours to rest for the night, we had to power nap and go drive in to town for food, which was a bummer. The house feels like you’re staying at a relatives place which is cozy. There is a lot of semi truck noise on the main road, and we are from NYC, so for me to say it was loud was kind of surprising. Overall, it was fine for the night but not our vibe. Appreciate the pet friendly atmosphere! They do offer breakfast from 730-930am, however it is a sit down and order breakfast which we were not able to enjoy because we had a time constraint to get back on the road and would have loved to just grab and go, but we thought that was a cute touch they offer. Does not feel like a hotel at all-feels again like an ole relatives place. :)

Room was spotless and staff was great.

They are wonderful at Wayside. Room was very clean. Bed comfortable! Rhonda is always so friendly checking you in.

Facility was nice and clean. The inside appears out dated with wallpaper peeling off in many rooms including common area rooms, as well as water leak stains on the ceiling tiles. the furniture appeared to be older. Our bed was INCREDIBLY loud and squeaky and you felt every single movement your partner made due the to mattress being incredibly bouncy. The house over all has a very old farm feel. We did visit the restaurant for dinner which was sadly disappointing. The dining room is very out dated and rather empty feeling. I ordered the shrimp and zucchini noodle dinner which was very bland and watery and much over priced for what was presented. The breakfast is included in your stay and the food itself is yummy however the service was not great. Our waitress brought out coffee to two tables that placed their order after us before I had to ask if we could get ours. She was very unfriendly when I asked and when she returned MANY minutes later with our coffee she placed it on our table with and when I said thank you to her she had no response and walked away. Overall I’m not sure we would stay here again

From the road, this inn looks charming, but up close it was a different story. The room was clean on the surface, but the building has a lot of problems. It was nice to look out at the small river in the back, but the screen door fell off when I moved it and the chairs on the deck were completely covered in mildew. The refrigerator had water pooled in the bottom and half the electrical outlets were non-functioning. In a nutshell, the place is old and in desperate need of repairs. I don't need fancy and I don't mind rustic, but the maintenance at the Wayside Inn has indeed gone by the wayside.

The staff seemed friendly and they have a restaurant/bar on-site. The rooms are pretty outdated but the bed was very comfortable and clean, aside from a couple stains on the linens and towels. I only stayed one night and it served its purpose.

We were in the main house, and I'm not sure how they get an occupancy permit for this place. My room smelled horrible. The ceiling was full of mold. The floors were so uneven you felt like you were going up and down trail paths. The floor boards were loose and creaky you felt like you were going to fall through any second. The bathroom sink faucet wasn't bolted on. The toilet flap was leaking so bad the toilet ran continuously. The room was dusty.

The property had a bit of charm, enjoyed the hardwood floors and older furniture pieces. The owner was kind and provided an extra blanket and pillows that were appreciated. However found the place cluttered, had an odor, had outside furniture toppled over and the window sills needed a good vacuming. Likely, will not book again.

Rooms were dated and worn. Outside of buildings needs a lot of work.

The location is charming and the staff was super nice. I didn't realize there wasn't a tv in the room but i may missed that in the deacription. The only complaint i had was that the bed was really, really hard and uncomfortable.

Which is understandable but was not given any communication prior to arriving about this situation. My wife and i were given a room in the annex with 2 double beds (originally booked a queen) but had a view of the creek was the "sell point" of the room swap. That creek was the only upsell of the room. The beds were extremely uncomfortable night as well slept on the floor with a blanket. I got very little sleep that night. The bathroom shower/toilet was about the size of one of those handicap outhouses. Super cramped and the sink was outside the bathroom in small alcove that the door swung into. The room was very outdated but looked like the entry deck was recently updated (new wood and underlayment) The creek again was the only saving grace. The view from the 2nd story was relaxing and the sound was very soothing. Unfortunately the annex is smoking area (still non smoking room) so I had to deal with the smell from time to time of people outside smoking. We chose to eat dinner at the hotel since we arrived late we were immediately seated. Food was really good cocktails seemed themed for the season. No discount given for staying at the hotel and not even for our forced room downgrade/swap. (A free app or dessert would have been sufficient) Over all the stay was good for the overnight pass though to a longer vacation elsewhere but will not stay again

Great old house with very friendly staff. A yummy cooked to order breakfast was included. Our large room overlooked the river. My only complaint is the weak wifi. We had to go downstairs to the common area to get any signal.

Squeaky bed! Mattress was comfy though.

The room was nice but the bed was horrible. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything as could anyone passing by could hear everything inside the rooms. We enjoyed the games they had available and the restaurant was decent.

Restaurant has beautiful river view. Staff and service excellent. Road noise in front rooms requires white noise for sleeping.

Pros: quaint furniture, large room, goid service, nice dining and sitting rooms downstairs. Cons: old jet bathtub and bad showerhead, hard creaky bed. No fridge, freezer (in room), or tv. Available downstairs but inconvenient.

They are wonderful at Wayside. Room was very clean. Bed comfortable! Rhonda is always so friendly checking you in.

I didn’t give 5 stars to the staff because the dinner waitress acted like it was a waste of her time waiting on a single woman. She was friendly, ran through the specials and was attentive to all the other tables. Everyone else on staff at the Inn, including the breakfast waitress were wonderful and should be commended.

The owner and staff are wonderful. Just an all around lovely place to stay for our family.

Greatly enjoyed our stay at The Wayside. The staff, especially Montana, were friendly and helpful. The room was exactly what we needed and breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend!

Friendly staff, great value for the money, great restaurant, beautiful riverside location

We love the Wayside Inn! We’ve been staying 2-3 times a year for 4 years. The rooms a lovely; the inn is cozy; the included breakfast is delicious, as is the restaurant for dinner. The view from the dining room is beautiful every season. Sarah, the owner, and her family are absolute delights-it’s a privilege to have gotten to know them a bit over the years-and we look forward to many more years of visits.

Really The only thing positive about this location was.The restaurant staff was very kind and courteous. We needed to contact the front desk over several days. Left voicemail. Never received a call back for a reply by email.. I even left a message over the expedia app.And never received any responses This is not only concerning, but why couldn't you get a hold of the resort staff?

Hotel staff was wonderful. Room was overall clean but going through renovations. Lady bugs were very active in the area. Location on the river was peaceful. Bar tender and Manager were awesome as my wife had hurt her back and they were very accommodating with helping get ice, meals and beverages. Dinner was great! TV was a challenge as the cable did not work and had to stream MLB payoffs.

Our hostess, Sarah, was extremely helpful and informative, staff was nice, great experience!

We were looking for something convenient for both exploring Mount Washington and The Kanc areas, so this was perfect, right on route 302. Cute historical inn right on the river, with its own restaurant. Food was excellent. The rooms are “quaint”. The floorboards and bed springs a little squeaky, but room was very clean. Comfortable.

The Wayside Inn is a charming property, 5 mins drive away from the town of Bethlehem. We enjoyed a good breakfast with a nice view of the river.

This is a lovely inn where you will enjoy a B&B style stay with lovely river views and easy access to all White Mountains attractions. Our room was very cozy with effective AC. We arrived too late for dinner, but there is a full restaurant with a variety of delicious breakfast choices. In our case, it was an ideal halfway rest between Quebec and southern New England. I would not think twice about rebooking!

Beautiful location

Lovely B&B with a good restaurant. The location is 30 minutes from North Conway, Lincoln, Littleton and more. Many of the rooms overlook the river in back. The restaurant is always good. The hotel itself is lovely, old building filled with charm. The rooms are spacious, charming and there is no TV. We’ve stayed here 3 or 4 times in the last year or so.

It was very quaint with a private balcony overlooking the beautiful river. Breakfast was a treat. Although the menu was very enticing (everything sounded delicious), we didn't try dinner at the restaurant; it was quite busy, so I'm sure it's wonderful. And last, but not least, the location was great if you'd rather be away from the crowds.

Owner is very pleasant. Dinner gluten free options are great.

Although the inn is old it’s still a beautiful place. It seems the bathrooms has been remodeled and they’re in the process of redoing the decks on the back next to the river. The restaurant was never crowded and the food was always delicious

Everything about this stay was great. The room was very comfortable and clean. We had dinner here and it was very good. The staff was friendly and professional. There are some great places to walk outside. Overall, a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it.

We love the Wayside Inn. It is a beautiful property, offering many rooms with river views. It is fairly priced which includes a fantastic full-service breakfast. We usually have dinner in the restaurant which never disappoints. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It is a family owned business and you feel like part of the family when you stay.
