The StateView Hotel, Autograph Collection

This is the second time we stayed here. It has become a Christmas tradition for me and my spouse. We would like to come every year. The room is very clean, neat and lovely. We usually have a view of the lake which is nice. Coffee in the AM is an extra treat. The staff at the front desk is always helpful. The only thing I noticed this time was a charge for the parking. That was new and unexpected. Not sure why that changed. All else was wonderful!

Excellent place to stay. Fun, friendly professional staff they’ll get you anything you need. The gym was wonderful open 24 hours. I did water aerobics in the pool. I love the out dining. I like the outside seating with umbrellas that makes the difference the inside buffet and also breakfast was amazing. Must stay here. The cleaning crew amazing the Housekeeper fabulous

It’s June, it’s hot. It should be made clear your pool is under maintenance before booking. Did not find out until I read the little sign on reception front desk. I specifically picked this hotel for the outdoor pool. Paid more than I needed to because of the pool. Front desk did not care that this was an issue.

We planned a last minute trip to Raleigh to attend an event at the PNC Arena- found the State View Hotel after arriving and were very pleased with what we found. The State View is beautiful, well maintained and has a wonderful patio overlooking Lake Raleigh. The food and bar were excellent- wish we had been afforded more time to enjoy the pool and outdoor fireplace.

It was a really enjoyable time. I only had one issue with the pool. The staff that day did what they could to keep us happy, but the pool hadn't been serviced the day we visited. I hope they can keep on top of it for future guests. It really is a lovely spot besides that one issue.

PARKING IS $12 ADDITIONAL. Bed was stiff, shower was barely hot enough for a man, too cold for average female. Room was clean, view was stunning. Filtered ice and water on each floor.

The hotel was very pleasant and excited to be a wolf packer. The two things that I wasn't crazy about is that I ordered extra towels that never came and I thought the parking situation was very inconvenient. Especially since it cost $24 to park for the night and then had to walk a pretty far distance to get to the hotel and back again the next day.

Love the cleanliness of the hotel and pool area

This hotel is way out there—like, really out there. I remember seeing another review mention it, but wow... they weren’t kidding. It’s near a lake, but don’t expect any great views. From my room, all I could see was a giant white roof, which was a major letdown. If school is in session, I am guessing would be a nightmare to get around as it is on the campus. I paid over $300 per night after taxes, and honestly, that’s outrageous for what you get. I recently stayed at a beautiful spot in Nashville for less, and the quality there far surpassed this. I was really looking forward to cooling off in the pool since it was so hot—but the water was super cloudy and just looked dirty. Definitely not inviting. Also, the bar and food service doesn’t start until 5:30 PM, which is a problem when you’re so far removed from everything else. The food itself was just okay, though the drinks were solid. The room didn’t feel clean. There was pink mold in the shower and visible dirt in several spots. Some of the towels were so worn out they should honestly be repurposed as rags. The bed was uncomfortably hard, and the pillows reminded me of the kind you find at your mom’s house from 30 years ago—not in a good way. The photos make this place look way nicer than it actually is. For the price, I expected so much more.

Hotel is great. They seem to always have a staff shortage. The staff that are there are wonderful though. Outside area is beautiful but never wiped down. This needs to happen all the time but especially in pollen season. Loved our room and it was very clean.

The bathroom shower had substantial black and pink mildew and mold. I actually cleaned it before taking my shower. I have never had issue at this hotel and have enjoyed previous visits.

Place was dirty and not maintained.

This property is always top notch. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. The rooms are always exceptionably clean. No doubt I will be back!

The rooms are comically dark - not enough lighting. While the lobby level smelled nice (a touch too strong), the room had weird - not pleasant smells. We found a lot of “hairs” in the bathroom, especially on the shampoo/conditioner dispensers. There are no racks or hooks to hang towels on in the bathroom. We found a random $2 “food and beverage gratuity” charge on our bill that wasn’t ours because we didn’t dine or buy beverages during our stay except for one coffee purchase on a different day that the gratuity was charged on. We had the charge adjusted off.

The hotel is nice, but needs to be better maintained. There was litter all over the property, and food and debris in the lobby. Cleaning staff that makes rounds of the property would solve this problem easily. Aside from this, we enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

Beautiful and stunning on Lake Raleigh. Property was beautiful, modern and high end. Would be fantastic if you did a walking path up the the lake and a dock. Would be a beautiful addition. Thank you

It is a beautiful hotel unfortunately I was given a room directly above the front doors and they opened and closed all night long

The room was super dark. Not sure if it was missing a lamp or if it was designed that way? The coffee was terrible. Not sure if that was your brand or the coffee maker but yikes.

I was disappointed with this hotel. I selected it because it was an Autograph Collection hotel, which I thought meant top quality. The air conditioning did not work in our room. The first morning, the water in the shower did not get hot. We requested a different room and a refund for the first night. The staff did both. The second room was better, but the AC still not work very well. The hallways were also quite warm. The hotel restaurant was just okay. This hotel was a disappointment. It was close to the NC State campus, but still can't recommend the property.

The room acoustics wasn't great at all. Room above my room was very noisy i thought the bed was going to drop through the ceiling

This place is a disaster. Moved to 2 different rooms with no air conditioning before we finally packed our bags and walked out. I am demanding a refund.

The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Beds a bit too firm for our liking but nothing to keep us up at night.

Very lovely place and stay. Only negative was WFI was spotty. Used my hot spot for most of the visit. We were on 5th floor

I was so excited about staying at this hotel. However, when we arrived, after having had our room booked for several days in advance, they gave away our room and sold-out the hotel. We arrived around 11:30 at night and had to drive 20 minutes away to a different hotel for the night. Not cool.

Overall good. Had one issue that was more of annoyance than a major concern- my room had a broken closet door so I couldn’t hang up clothes or get iron out and staff was not as responsive as I would have liked. Took several calls to get someone to assist with getting an iron but closet door was not fixed while I was there. Otherwise the place was good and clean. And bar staff were very nice.

Reserved room 5 months ago, went to check in at 1pm, room not available, returned at 10:30pm after football game and dinner with drinks, told no room, had to take the risk to drive to North Hills. Really bad and I want compensation.

Staff was very professional and attentive, the hotel is beautiful!

Front desk was not as welcoming to me when I arrived and seemed annoyed. I wanted a breezy friendly check in after my 8 hour drive. On top of this, the TV was not working upon arrival and had to call the front desk multiple times, a fire alarm test happened during my stay, and the elevators were not working!! I also had to pay for parking. For the price I paid it was 100% not worth it! I've stayed in budget hotels with better customer service!

Check-in was painfully lengthy due to the lack of adequate staffing. One front desk clerk was on duty while six people waited to check-in. I observed the same thing the following evening. For such a "high-end" property, this doesn't set a good tone.

Worst front desk receptionist ever! As we approached the front reception area yesterday, my kids and I could see how the young lady was rude and unwelcoming to the guests in front of us. Same kind of rude interaction happened with us, didn’t greet us or say hi- let alone “welcome” :( I was very disappointed by that and so were my kids. A hotel like that, front desk staff should be trained well to show grace and courtesy and go above and beyond when it comes to interaction with guests as most of them, like us,will come so often to visit our children at NC State. Customer service was poor and unacceptable- She was even rude to the other receptionist, unbelievable!!!!! Please train your staff to have guests feel welcomed- a smile goes a long way! This is my 2nd time in this property and I was excited to book it again but not again!

She could barely look up at us, and didn't acknowledge our existence for several minutes. When she did look up and see us, she didn't smile and she barely interacted with us to get us checked in and give us the room keys. When we went to dinner, we found that they had no vegetarian options other than a green salad, even though online, we had found menus with multiple options. Upon asking about this, the server (who was also uninterested in our presence), said that they had less because it was a holiday weekend. This was not mentioned on their website when we made the reservation. We went somewhere else for dinner, even though part of why we chose that hotel was because there was a restaurant there, where we thought we could eat dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was fine, and the staff was much friendlier than the night before.

Great hotel in a little oasis in Raleigh. Clean, quiet, with easy parking and very safe. It will be my go to spot in Raleigh in the future.

Loved this hotel! Will book this hotel for all of my visits to Raleigh. Location was very convenient to everything, quiet and safe. Bonus was the walking trail along the lake on property.

Second time staying here and it is the best place I’ve stayed in Raleigh, rooms are clean and up show a luxurious look. The staff is nice, and it’s in a great location in Raleigh.

Staff was very personable, courteous, friendly and professional. Room was comfortable and clean. Dining was very good and great service. Recommend to reserve room with breakfast included. Breakfast was pricey otherwise.

Their restaurant was extremely crowded and they were understaffed. There were two ladies at covering the bar, restaurant and patio area, they moved fast and do a great job but they are doing everything themselves with no support. I think there was a third person but she seemed to be doing the minimum.

Restaurant onsite was amazing!!! The rooms are very clean and quiet. Property is very well maintained.

Pros: Amazing, tranquil, clean accommodations. Off the beaten path but close to downtown. Great location. Amazing GM, bartender (AA lady with white streaks- THE BEST!!) and front desk staff. Cons: Food was not good. Waitress totally overwhelmed and screaming at younger waitress EVERY DAY, complimentary breakfast was limited. Housekeeping didn't come for 2/5 days, no pool towels

Breakfast was awful! It took 40 minutes to get served. The waitress was excellent but terrible overworked. The one cereal on the menu wasn't available! We were late for our meeting. NEVER AGAIN.
