Great value hotel with helpful staff. Rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Decent breakfast in the adjoining restaurant

Clean and comfortable. The lift was out of order. Didn’t realise we needed to book in for breakfast! Staff were friendly.

Arrived early evening greeted by freindly staff, unfortunately the lift was out of order which the staff apologised for but the stairs were fine, clean and well lit, room was perfect for our one night stop over, modern clean and well maintained, bed was clean and comfortable.

We had contacted the hotel before arrival and on the pre arrival check in to say that my husband had mobility issues, we were put into a room on the first floor but the lift was not working. It was a major struggle for him. They assured us it would be fixed by that evening, as it was a Friday afternoon when we arrived I was dubious. The next day we were offered a ground floor room. The rooms need to be sound proofed as we could hear when someone was using water, washing, showering filling the kettle. Also could hear people talking as though they were outside our room. The staff were lovely, but after the experience we had we feel we are due compensation.

Lovely clean rooms and communal areas, comfy beds and very convenient parking. The restaurant had changed hands since I booked and is no longer dog friendly which presented a problem at breakfast which we had paid for. Fortunately a member of staff offered to look after our dog while we went to eat but we should have been informed beforehand.

Food at the restaurant next door was very good. The room was well decorated and clean.

Staff on reception very friendly and helpful, rooms were very modern and clean, Parking on site good.

Only reason we didn’t give it excellent was….. the restaurant is closed on Monday & Tuesday evenings and other than Granola, there was no other cereal on menu. There was no armchairs in our room & had to lie on bed to relax & there was only two coat hangers on rail. Room was very clean & staff very friendly and helpful. We found the process for checking in very easy & no problems finding the key code to get keys from key box. We would come back again.

Great hotel , stayed 2nights to attend a family wedding at South Corsey Hall , only 3 mins away in a taxi. Great restaurant and bar attached to hotel with lovely food and great friendly service. Overall great value for money

Basic hotel that met the need for a couple of nights stay, remote check-in procedure was adequate but lacked the personal touch. Adjacent restaurant provided a range of food and drink and seemed popular with locals.

Very clean, newly refurbished room (#14) with a very well stocked tea tray and good towels and bedding. On a Sunday night, there were limited eating options nearby, so we had a chinese and pizza takeaway in our room. The room was let down by needing just a little more maintenance - the desk chair was broken and the door handle was loose. Its also a noisy hotel because although other guests were just going about their normal business the sound seemed to really carry and echo through the corridor.

Stay was ok, unfortunately no loo roll in accommodation, bins not emptied and power tools woke us up at gone midnight. Used to air BnB and using premises which are not staffed but in those instances I expect cleaning to have taken place and basics like loo roll to be restocked. There was a gents on site and I was able to make do and find provisions but travelling as a family of 4 the aforementioned was problematic. Shame as had potential to be ideal but all in all a disturbed nights sleep tipped it over for us.

Absolutely amazing cleaning staff were amazing too really helpful. We were so impressed when we saw our room amd will be returning again. In the morning i had an accident and spilt boiling water on me and a lady from the cleaning staff was so helpful she went above and beyond and helped me so so much will be ruturning and reccomending here 10/10 for the room for price and 10/10 staff thank you!

The room was spotless, with a large bedroom and shower room. Everything was provided that I needed and the reception staff were very helpful. The only thing I would have liked was the bins to be emptied every day.

The hotel wants a full refurbishment! My room was a family room. Walking into our room they was a horrendous smell which can only be described as something rotting. The door handle wasnt screwed on Properly and was hanging off. Walking into the bathroom large areas of plaster were hanging off the walls and part of the wall had started to be painted and just left. The handle on the shower was literally hanging off. God help anyone who missed it and tried to hold on to get in! Into the bedroom, sockets were loose on the wall with large areas of plaster missing. And to top it off they were yellow stains on the matress topper! The small green cushions smelt awfull and had grease marks on them. On the hotels .com website they advertise a pool table in the lounge which was non existent! We spoke to the receptionist who offered us two twin rooms but this wasnt possible when we had two children with us! Apart from that he shrugged his shoulders when we pointed out the rest of the room. I booked this hotel as i have stayed in many hotels which are part of a larger company. But this was the absolute shambles !

We have stayed here multiple times, Staff as always were excellent. There was no tv remote in the room and staff could not find a replacement. There was a slight smell of sewage in one room and a stronger smell in another. We had 3 rooms that were clean and tidy, just a few minor issues that stop me goving 10 out of 10 this time

Great hotel, great value and superb support from the staff. Rooms were large and clean. Will certainly book again in the future.

We needed to book in early and after a phone call to them it was not a problem. Absolutely spotless room and bathroom cleaner than most 4* hotels, easy parking . Everything you could need and at half the price of those nearer Beamish or wedding venues. staff warm and welcoming , well done Hotel 52.

Nice comfy bed, spacious shower and clean and tidy. Modern feel to the room. Small but ideal for the one night stay we needed.

Clean and spacious room. Comfortable mattress. Tea and coffee available. Odd smell, no ventilation- windows does not open. Tv turned on at volume every 30min. Had to unplug it. Shower made high volume high ptich noise continuously. Bed small why no king size. Lots of noise travel between rooms.

Great staff, friendly and helpful. Room was basic but for the price it did it's job. Comfy bed. Downside was no bulb in the bedside lamp and the TV didn't work, not that it bothered me that much but still to be mentioned as a paying customer.

Honestly have nothing negative to say. We stayed in an apartment and it was huge. It was so clean and the staff couldnt do enough. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Booked on the hotels.com website at short notice. Hotel info states "Reception 24/7" ...... it is not. Reception was a small serving hatch, no staff present, no phone, no info, nothing. I found a number on hotels.com app, a female answered and said I should have received an email with a link to book in and a code for a room key box. She stated "sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't" ..... helpful! Eventually received an email with a link to book in and managed to get the key box code, it all took about 20 minutes. The hotel is very basic (in fact very very basic). We were allocated room 14. The room was clean and had two beds. One was trying to be a double and failing badly, it was so small we couldn't turn over without hitting each other. I measured it with my phone charging cable. When I got home I discovered it was 46 inches wide, standard width for a double bed? ... 54 inches. Room 14 is on the first floor. Below our windows was a loud heating exhaust that activated every 15 minutes or so, we closed the windows, it didnt help. We thought we'd watch the TV but there was no remote. We managed to turn it on and change channels etc manually, at 6 O'Clock in the morning it turned itself on! I emailed the manager with all this info and have received no acknowledgement. I suspect there is some creative writing of other reviews. We booked two nights, we stayed for one. Would we stay again? .....never.

HOTEL 52 Is very convenient for us. My son lives 5 minutes away ,so when we visit its ideal. The hotel itself is lovely. Rooms very comfortable and spacious. We stayed in quadruple room 1 double 2 singles. The only reason i took off a star was the toilet rool holder was hanging off the wall. I tried to report it but there was no one at reception. There was a number to call . But we had a appointment to get to . This is our 2nd stay at the hotel and we definitely will be staying again. The restaurant Rangos is fantastic lovely food and lovely service. 😊

We were at a wedding at the south Causey inn .. room was a bit hot due to the weather ..

Room was great. It was warm, spacious and very clean. Bathroom was the same. The tea and coffee making facility was well stocked and there was even an iron and ironing board available on the landing. One down side was that there wasn’t always staff on hand at reception to answer any queries or resolve issues quickly.

The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They work very hard. The one thing I did notice was that there are some residents who are obviously homeless and living there who are very rude to the staff which is totally un-necessary as the staff simply turn the other cheek which is very brave of the staff.

On arrival after checking in via email i didnt receive an email back with my room number. I called the nuber on the reception desk and was told my room number via them but the key was not there. I was told that they were still probably servicing the room but as it was 5pm and check in was from 4 i was a little surprised. I was then told to wait in reception for someone to come and assist me. 20 minutes later a woman arrived and took us to the room to find no towels or tea and coffe making stuff. (Milk teabags cups). I called her again and was told she would bring some up. After travelling for 3 hours all i wanted was a cup of tea! 20 minutes later she arrived with 1 towel a carton of milk and 2 chipped mugs. I have since kearnt that the local dss are housed in this hotel which wasnt stated so there were young people hanging around which was unnerving. At around 3 am there was an argument happening outside between 2 of them which caused me some concern. The room was hot and stuffy maybe a fan wouldn't go a miss and the bed was tiny Never again

Property was fine, arrived at 5pm no one there, no prior contact so unable to access eventually after phoneing an urgent help number we were given a code at 7.30pm to get into the hotelll very stressful and inconvenient.

We stayed here before the GNR. Good location. Room was clean and bathroom is good. Check in was easy. It had a kitchnette which i didnt realise, so next time id be able to prepare my breaksfast before the run. Would definitely recommend.

Don’t be put off by lack of parking or look of building/area etc , clean, comfortable spacious room with good breakfast choice. No staff available for checkin or checkout but good communication via email and key ready for us. Thank you

The Hotel was nice and clean and the staff very polite and helpful. The surrounding areas were a little disappointing. We found a very good pub for food and drink, the south causey.

We liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Sparkling clean room. Convenient dining facility. Very quiet location even though near town.

Polite, helpful receptionist. Easy access for all amenities, very reasonable price for the family room, and on site dining/drinks was very handy. Would highly recommend.

We stayed here after a day at Beamish Museum. I booked it because it was close, convenient and reasonably priced. When we arrived to check in we were greeted by a lovely polite receptionist. When we got to our room it was lovely and clean, warm and had everything we would need. There was a small issue with the shower draining too slow, but the receptionist was so helpful. The restraunt next door has lovely food and reasonably priced and has lovely staff too.

The property is spotlessly clean, the staff member who checked us in was polite and friendly, The room was very spacious. The only thing in the room that was lacking was a mirror, there is one in the bathroom but if like myself you want to straighten your hair there is no mirror to do so. The restaurant joined onto the hotel is fantastic, the staff and food we couldn’t fault.

Turned up fora stay booked less than a week before arrival. Paid extra for ‘free breakfast’. On arrival told restaurant closed with no local eating available. Staff did try to offer alternative hotel. Left to find own alternative.

Good luck if you want a good nights sleep!! Banging of doors all night long, thin walls so could hear people in the next room flushing the loo, running the taps etc. Shouting and loud talking until late, coming from the bar area. Didn’t feel particularly safe, car park not secure. The staff all pleasant. The new refurbished restaurant (separate to the hotel) but, conveniently linked to the hotel was the best bit - Lovely food and great staff. The hotel in general could do with some money investing into it.
