We really liked this hotel, it was a great location and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed in the main guest house with a garden view for 8 nights. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well, could have done with a bit more hanging space in the wardrobe. The breakfast was good but the ‘hot’ food was only ever barely warm, the ladies who worked in the breakfast room were all very pleasant and helpful. My only negative about the hotel was the pools were all very very cold, (we tried all three) swimming and using the pool is important to me and my husband but we found them way too cold. The pool at the guest house is so pretty, like a little oasis and just a little heating it up would make so much difference. That said it is a beautiful hotel and I would highly recommend it if using the pool is not a priority for you but I don’t think I would stay again for that reason.

We loved the size of the room and the very comfortable bed, as well as the balcony with drying racks. The pool was refreshing and the breakfast buffet was fabulous. Staff were very helpful and the sauna was amazing. Massage from spa was also wonderful The overall experience was fantastic and if we ever get the opportunity to travel again to Portugal we will return and stay longer.

I really like this site. It looks like a villa with different building and a ton of vegetal. They have 2 pools, and a good breafast included. You feel secure by having access to the site by using a code to unlock doors. The bar is open late. The service is good, and they go with you to show your room, etc. I will return definitively.

It was a quiet oasis close to town and beaches. Check-in was quick and informative. The facility was beautiful and, charming. The room was a good size, with a deck overlooking the pool, lounge chairs, and lush vegetation. Everything was impeccably clean. The beds were very comfortable. They had a spa and rooftop lounging…also a bar. The breakfast was impressive with a plethora of choices everything was delicious and the staff was so pleasant. Honestly, stay here! It’s one of those places that just brings calm to your life

For starters, Jessica was amazing—she helped us plan a perfect day with a great local lunch and a peaceful beach where we easily found chairs and an umbrella. The staff was super attentive, and the AC here was the best we had during our whole Europe trip! The hotel is quite a walk to the marina, but close enough to restaurants and bars in the town center. It is also close enough to a few picturesque beaches. The main pool was a bit crowded in the afternoon, but luckily there’s a second pool across the street. We stayed in the attic suite—spacious and charming, though the spiral staircase and slanted ceilings were a bit tricky. Still, totally worth it for the relaxing atmosphere and great service!

Comfy bed in spacious room and good balcony. Breakfast was amazing with a great choice of dishes. The residence was a little out of the town centre but only took a few minutes to walk in once we had established the route. Swimming pool was quite small and not so many sunbeds which were reserved by guests from fairly early in the morning.

Staff were exemplary. Always quick to accommodate various needs and requests like ice, corkscrew, lost keys, luggage storage. They actually have a free 1/2 hour Turkish bath private session! Garden/pool is gorgeous. Breakfast was the best out of several Portuguese hotels visited on an 18 day trip. Highly recommend!

The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean and quite spacious. The complimentary bottle of wine was much appreciated! Breakfast was beyond our expectations and we were given a packed lunch to take with us on our journey after checking out early in the morning. Highly recommend this lovely hotel!

The breakfast was great, but the rooms felt pretty basic and not very cozy. The bathroom had a bit of a mildew smell. Parking seemed random, with cars on sidewalks and scattered spots. The beach is about a 10–15 minute walk away.

My partner and I stayed at Horel Dom Manuel for 6 nights and loved every single second of our stay here! The room was incredibly clean and the cleaners are extremely friendly and thorough when cleaning your room (this can be requested each day if required!). We also watched them cleaning around the pool area and the extent to which they go to to clean the area was fab. The pool area is super quiet which is great for anyone wanting to relax, there were always beds free when we wanted them and umbrellas positioned in great locations for when you get a little too hot. Or a dip in the pool does the job too (the pool doesn’t get much sun so it is super cold but still lovely). The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The breakfast is vast and some things change each day to keep it interesting (the cakes, fruit and pastry selections) but they always have the standards each day too (eggs, sausages, bacon, a variety of bread, cereal, salad, juices etc.). The rooms have a hairdryer in the bathroom, a fridge and clothes horse on the balcony as standard (which is a fab touch!), we were also greeted on arrival with a free bottle of red wine and water. Irons are available on request. The location is also brilliant: a 10-minute walk into the centre of Lagos, and a shop close by for any additional room requirements. We genuinely don’t have a bad word to say about this hotel and would love to return in the future!!

The room was very clean, spacious and well equipped. The breakfast buffet was varied and excellent. We didn’t try the pool as it was too cold during our stay ( october). The location is excellent, you can walk to the beaches nearby and to the old city center. Therés also a surprising amount of good restaurants 2-4 minutes walking distance, try the Palacio da China nearby if you want a change from Portuguese cuisine. The Spar supermarket just down the road is fairly large and offers a great selection of wines, cheese and snacks at good prices.

Lovely hotel with antique furnishings, comfy lounge and bar in reception area, helpful staff. If you don’t mind climbing a spiral staircase to reach the top floor, you can have a spacious room with private balcony there. Breakfast buffet was great and cooked by dedicated staff onsite.

The staff were very friendly and the room was beautiful! We enjoyed the evening out on the balcony looking out of the pool. The location was an easy walk to the historic part of Lagos. The breakfast was AMAZING! So many options and beautiful presentation- best hotel breakfast on our trip! My only complaint was the noise during the night- it sounded like there was construction happening in the hotel or neighboring property. Overall I would recommend this spot!

Nicely decorated room, quiet. Walking distance to Lagos old town. Small bathroom. Parking was always possible in the back of the hotel without paying. Tasty and super rich breakfast with plenty of choice! Would for sure return for the breakfast.

This hotel‘s name says it all. Once we checked in and were able to explore the hotel we were captivated. It really was as beautiful as the pictures. It’s a very small property, but every inch of it seems thoughtfully designed and all details are well maintained. The staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast each morning could not have been higher quality and more diverse. The courtyard you get to enjoy it in was one of those places you usually only see in a magazine, not experience in real life. It’s not a big hotel and it’s not smack in the center of the old town, but it is well situated to both old town as well as the beach. The space in the room was perfect and the beds were comfortable.

The breakfast each morning could not have been higher quality and more diverse. The courtyard you get to enjoy it in was one of those places you usually only see in a magazine, not experience in real life. It’s not a big hotel and it’s not smack in the center of the old town, but it is well situated to both old town as well as the beach. The space in the room was perfect and the beds were comfortable.

We originally booked a city view room but the one we were given was on the main road and we were warned about the 3am dustbin collections and were even supplied with earplugs! Luckily they were more than accommodating when we asked about changing rooms. The new pool view room was like a breath of fresh air compared to the first. Breakfast was amazing and had so many options it was difficult to choose so just have some of everything :-) Although the pool area was quite small we always managed to get a sunbed. The water is not heated but is still warmer than the sea! Finally, a big thank you to the girls on reception for rescuing our holiday and looking after us.

All was excellent, except for one check-in staff member who was bit clueless and robotic. The rooms are spacious and very good, breakfast is otherworldly great, and the location convenient. Overall experience was most charming, as the name implies. We loved it! Their breakfast is the best we had, after three weeks in a Portugal and Spain.

I was here with my wife, and the staff talked down to us until they realized we were staying in a premium room. In addition, they insisted on writing out my credit card info on a piece of paper that they keep at the front desk in case of any charges at the hotel bar. This is an extremely insecure process as anyone in the hotel could find this information in their open boxes on the wall. We stayed here in part because of the pools, but the water was so cold we couldn’t get in.

For starters, Jessica was amazing—she helped us plan a perfect day with a great local lunch and a peaceful beach where we easily found chairs and an umbrella. The staff was super attentive, and the AC here was the best we had during our whole Europe trip! The hotel is quite a walk to the marina, but close enough to restaurants and bars in the town center. It is also close enough to a few picturesque beaches. The main pool was a bit crowded in the afternoon, but luckily there’s a second pool across the street. We stayed in the attic suite—spacious and charming, though the spiral staircase and slanted ceilings were a bit tricky. Still, totally worth it for the relaxing atmosphere and great service!

Staff were exemplary. Always quick to accommodate various needs and requests like ice, corkscrew, lost keys, luggage storage. They actually have a free 1/2 hour Turkish bath private session! Garden/pool is gorgeous. Breakfast was the best out of several Portuguese hotels visited on an 18 day trip. Highly recommend!

We spent two nights at the Charming Residence & Guest House Dom Manuel I Hotel in Lagos, Portugal. It is a beautiful hotel within walking distance of the old central city. The hotel grounds are gorgeous with a beautiful setting for the pool. The breakfast was outstanding with multiple options. The real measure of a hotel is the staff, and we immediately found everyone to be very friendly and helpful. An example of this is when, after leaving, I realized that I had left my eyeglasses in the room. We were now in Spain and called back to see if anything could be done . The staff located my glasses and took the extra time to mail them to an another hotel that we had scheduled in our travels. Everything worked out well thanks to the staff at Charming Residence & Guest House Dom Manuel I. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

A lovely 3-star hotel in a quiet area within walking distance of both Old Town and the beaches. Service and breakfast felt more like 5 stars – fresh fruit, vegetarian options, and even cake in the morning! Beautiful rooms and grounds - just like the pictures people posted - service was excellent from checkin, breakfast to check out. Great breakfast in the morning. Great location 10 minutes in one direction to Largos old town and 10 minutes walk in the other direction for the Anna beach. Was always able to find parking on the side streets.

We loved our stay here! Our room was in the pink guest house, which is just around the corner from the main building. It has its own pool and parking along the street in front of it. We had no issues in early June finding a spot. The breakfast buffet might be the best I’ve had across various European cities I’ve traveled to. So much variety, and I noticed a lot of vegetarian options too. It opened at 7:30 which was convenient to getting an early start to our day. It was about 10 min walk to Dona Ana beach and 15 to Old Town. Quiet in the evenings. Great location.

We really liked this hotel, it was a great location and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed in the main guest house with a garden view for 8 nights. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well, could have done with a bit more hanging space in the wardrobe. The breakfast was good but the ‘hot’ food was only ever barely warm, the ladies who worked in the breakfast room were all very pleasant and helpful. My only negative about the hotel was the pools were all very very cold, (we tried all three) swimming and using the pool is important to me and my husband but we found them way too cold. The pool at the guest house is so pretty, like a little oasis and just a little heating it up would make so much difference. That said it is a beautiful hotel and I would highly recommend it if using the pool is not a priority for you but I don’t think I would stay again for that reason.

I loved every bit of this hotel down to the little things . Room was clean and they offer to change daily if you want .breakfast buffet was off the charts with soo many options which I loved .
