Bay Hotel

There is no parking if you want to park in the street is a limited time. You have to wake up early to move your car before 6 am.

There was no elevator as advertised. The bathrooms were shared spaces and not attached to the bedrooms as in the pictures. They were filthy with urine on the seats and floor. The rooms were tiny with non working fridges and microwaves. We woke up in the morning with cockroaches on the bed and bites from the cockroaches on our arms. The breakfast as advertised at 06:30 was set up more than an hour late. And most of all, there was no refund available for the terrible conditions. Zero stars. Do not stay at this hotel.

We pulled up at night, no way we were going to stay there. Lots of negative nighttime activities. I’ve never been so scared in my life. They don’t have a parking garage on site, so you would need to drive a blocks or so. Absolutely NO way!

This is a nice place at a good value. The front desk staff are helpful and the place is nice enough. No breakfast, though I assuming it's because of the bums (that are ALL over San Francisco, NOT just here). The location is great the beds are comfy and the AC was strong. Wifi was a bit spotty, but minor -it's not like I was overseas and NEEDED it! I would stay again! Thanks

This is as best as you’re going to get in San Francisco in summer peak tourism with privacy instead of a hostel. The only drawback I see is there’s only a fan so if it’s one of those rare once a year 100 degree days in San Francisco you’ll be hot as the room is already warm at night which most women would probably like but guys will heat up. You have to park a mile away unless you want to pay $31 a night at the garage next door. Theres no private bathrooms but that wasn’t an issue for me

You share a Restroom with other guest and there is no air-conditioned. Sleeping with the window open hlps cool the room but you also get all the loud noise from outside of cars passing by and people screaming on the road all night long making it hard to sleep. The staff was really friendly though.

It is right in the Tenderloin where lots of homeless are "living". The street is very dirty with poop....The neighboring room has annoying noise. Common area in the shared bathroom is not clean with residue in the toilet. However, stuff is overall nice.

The photos of the hotel are not accurate. The rooms do not look like that at all. Absolutely filthy conditions in the room and in the bathroom. Beware they charge you a $20 deposit when you get there. When I went to check out early in the morning, no one was in the lobby And I had to leave. So I did not get my $20 back. The sidewalk outside of the hotel is packed with homeless people with trash, The and urine everywhere. Dirty bedding, holes in the walls, terrible odors throughout the entire building. Do not stay at this property!

The room was impeccably clean. The family that runs the establishment was polite and welcoming. In the middle of the blight that is the tenderloin in San Francisco this is truly an oasis that I look forward to being their guest again in the near future

The hotel room and hallway smell something so strong!!! The room was dirty. I don't think they clean and change the bed sheet because when I check in my room, there's some hairs stuck in the pillow also as blanket. Around the area is terrible.

The room was absolutely disgusting and I really want a refund. The guy at the front desk literally told me that “the room isn’t disgusting, but you should lower your standards” there were stains all over the bed. And the floor was sticky, and most of the furniture was broken. Ended up just driving home because you couldn’t sleep there. Also check in was at 3 but was told we couldn’t go to the room until it was cleaned at 6pm

No bathroom’s in your room. Filthy hallways. Crazy, loud tenants. Awful smell throughout. Showers had no hot water. Will never stay at this place again.

So dirty. There was a blanket with poop and pee on it in the shared bathrooms and it wasn’t cleaned the entire time we were there. They didn’t have extra towels and the towels they did give us were stained.

This place isn't for the faint of heart. The sidewalk right in front of the hotel is full of homeless people, and a lot of them were actively doing drugs whenever I walked by. When I first approached, one of the people on the street actively started insulting me and calling me slurs, which was scary because the front door of this hotel is normally locked so I had to wait to be let in. The room itself was dire. We had a single window facing an interior space, which I thought would be nice to avoid the street noise, but it actually made the room unbearably hot even though it was *cold* outside. Running the provided fan didn't help. It also had a really heavy smoke smell for a smoke free room that actually made my eyes burn a little. The bathroom seemed clean enough. The bed's sheets had a bunch of threads popping out and were thin, but there weren't bed bugs. The man at the front desk was nice. I did, however, end up getting a different hotel over by the Marina. I've done cheap hotels, but this was too much for me.

The bed was uncomfortable and made constant noise, making it nearly impossible to sleep through the night. The walls are extremely thin — you can clearly hear people taking showers, climbing the stairs, and even loud noises from the street throughout the night. The lack of sound insulation made the stay even more unpleasant. To make matters worse, it took us almost 30 minutes to check out in the morning because the front desk was closed. After a long wait, someone finally emerged from a back room, clearly just waking up and still yawning — and this was at 9 a.m.

the hotel is full of cigarette smell. hardly could catch up few shut eye hrs between 9 pm to 4 am. outside the hotel is homeless ppl who would be screaming and yelling. too scary to walk around the neighborhood.. regret booking at this place. not at all recommended for couple or females that want to book solo.

I couldn't sleep because there were fights from the other guests, very loud and lots of shouting all night.

The bed was okay, the room was clean and secure. The front desk guy was so nice and helpful. Do not expect any extra amenities and the bathroom is shared. It’s like a well kept hostel with private rooms. Oh there was cereal and toast and coffee in the morning so that was neat.

The juice machine does not work for ever. It is said by other room guest there is cockroach in room 306. The bathroom is small and even don't have a soap holder. It is very inconvenient. The fridge is dirty. The bedsheets are really old and has stains. Need to prepare for your own slippers. The room wall is thin, you can hear other people talking.

I had a wonderful experience at the Bay Hotel. Front Desk Manager "Ajay" we encountered, was delightful and eager to help! We appreciate the kind service Ajat Provided. This is the perfect economical hotel for a weekend getaway in San Francisco The downtown area near Market Street offers everything you need if you don’t feel like venturing out. Thank you!

Avoid this hotel at all cost!!!! The manager is a thief; he requested $50 so I could recuperate my luggage. Location feels very unsafe. Worst place I have been.

Staff was wonderful. Good price hotel for a bad neighborhood. Lots of homeless folks outside sadly, lots of trash and sewage in the street and sidewalks in the area. Shared bathroom was fairly clean but I wish I brought shower shoes. I would not walk alone at night from the bars up the street. Hotel was easy to get into so you didn’t have to wait outside for an Uber ever. Staff was very nice, WiFi was good

I didn’t check in I was afraid I would get rob also there was homeless and vagrant drug users right in front of the hotel and in lobby I called hotels.com immediately the agent attempted to get my refund but the person at the Bay Hotel refused and also claimed there was no homeless or drug users in front of the property and said for the hotels.com agent to contact the manager at Bay Hotel the following morning I will load pics and video below and I’m also waiting for response from Hotels.com about this horrible situation

Someone from the hotel called me because they were closing at midnight and I had not checked in yet. They said they cancelled my reservation and hung up on me! I had to go find another hotel at 2am and pay a lot more. AND they didn't refund my money.

The area where the hotel is located is dangerous and ugly and dirty, it is full of homeless people, illicit substances and garbage, I do not recommend it.

The property is not in a very good location there were lots of homeless people in the vicinity so at night it did not feel safe. The hotel itself was not great the towels although were clean were dirty looking. We had our own bathroom and although it was clean it wasn't great. The window looked at a brick wall and other rooms it was incredibly noisy at night either other residents or neighbours but the noise went on loud music and shouting until about 3am and then started up with banging doors at 6am. We didnt pay a lot for the room but it was very badic.

This property was surrounded around an area where it felt extremely unsafe. Most of the photos online are either ai generated or pulled from somewhere else because they are false advertisement.

Area around hotel is sketchy, but hotel itself and staff make up for it. Definitely will be making it my go to spot when visiting SF

GOOD: Its 1.5 blocks off market. Central located to theaters, chinatown, shopping, Convenience markets, Clean y owners are a comodatinge... BAD: Lots of homeless, addicts y dealers (sketchy neighborhood). When I was checking out there was noone around to check me out

Very friendly and supportive host. The rooms are in an acceptable condition and totally sufficient for a Trip spent in town. Super place to stay everything can bei reached closely. Breakfast provided ist totally sufficient.

I was sorely disappointed to find that the "free breakfast" consisted of nothing more than some stale pastries and a selection of cereals. There was no hot food available, and the options were extremely limited. To top it all off, when I went to pour myself a cup of coffee, I discovered that the coffee was cold.

The property was great for the price. I was in close proximity to the conference center and I had a fridge and microwave in my room. The staff were kind and provided me even with an additional blanket because we were there during winter. However, there are some things outside of the direct control of the property that must be considered. The surrounding areas made it difficult to walk to any nearby locations. I did not feel safe waking anywhere near the hotel so I Ubered to and from the location. There are a few items that could be added to the property that would increase a lot of my ratings. The ability to have heating in the room that we can control, additional blankets, cleaner showers (some smelled of urine), and a more improved continental breakfast. The breakfast for example had milk jugs and orange juice containers that looked like they were pulled from a shared family fridge. Nothing looked fresh and there was always limited supply of items. In summary, I would still probably stay again because of the price and the close proximity to many big things in the city. Knowing what I know now, I would bring my own items to make myself feel more comfortable but the breakfast could defintley be kicked up a notch since it’s offered as a benefit of choosing this hotel.

The staff was friendly and helpful. He gave us great us suggestions of places near by to visit and eat. The continental breakfast was good it included several drink choices( coffee, milk, orange, cranberry and lemonade juice) and cereal or toast. They also provided a once use toothbrush and toothpaste. There's are homeless around that area and can be noisy.
