This was my 2nd time staying at Hotel Calabona, it’s an ideal hotel in Alghero! The hotel is waterfront with a small private cove, has a large pool overlooking the sea! It’s a 15 minute walk to the town center or they have a free shuttle. I suggest booking a room with a water view, it’s worth it. The staff is amazing, friendly and extremely accommodating! I highly suggest renting a car for a day trip to Castlesardo, La Pelosa Beach (ranked a top beach in Europe), you need to make a reservation), and some of the local beaches. Maria Pia was my favorite (15-20 minute drive), you can find street parking at the back of the hotel near the promenade. My only suggestion to the hotel, i. the summer, keep the pool open a little later. Thank you Hotel Calabona! I’ll be back!

This is a holiday hotel, it was very busy, we could not find sunbeds by the pool but there were free ones on the beach Staff were good There was a couple around with a very troubled Daschund, it was barking and snapping at the waiters, which was not good, and we avoided it when they were walking around the hotel. I did wonder if this was the owners and their dog. Breakfast was great, the hotel is a long walk to town, and the shuttle bus does not operate in the afternoon The hotel felt very much like a corporate hotel, rather than a family one, which I prefer here in Sardinia, so that was disappointing However, it was a still a nice stay. Despite the more formal culture
