White Hart Inn

The White Hart is a stunning Grade 1 listed building with beautiful cozy decor. Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming and they had a fantastic food & range of beers & ciders (locally sourced)! It is conveniently located very close to Wells market, the cathedral and Bishops Palace. We would 100% recommend The White Hart to anyone who wishes to visit Wells

Comfortable stay in this small pub/hotel. The staff were very friendly, and the room was good, with a comfortable bed. The en suite bathroom was clean if a little tired looking but had all amenities one would want. The breakfast was great but the dining room was rather plain. It was lively in the evening and had great beer.

The hotel was good as was the breakfast, ideal for our needs. Parking however was a problem. Nearest carpark was a 15 minute walk away and no way of paying for a continuous stay, requiring a trip to the carpark at 9am to top up the payment. Not so bad on a dry day, but in the rain….?

Bit tired, and parking was a long way to walk, espy as it rained.

Lovely period hotel. Bar serving lots of craft ales and offer delicious fresh meals, our evening meal and breakfast were amazing! Friendly staff that couldn’t do enough for us, we felt very welcome. Room was spotless and bed was so comfortable we will definitely be returning. Visited the Saturday market just at the end of the street & cathedral opposite the hotel, perfect spot to explore. My only criticism was hotel has no parking, but we managed to park next to cathedral on Cathedral Green, BA52UE on the sat nav. It’s a 2 hour stay throughout the day but you can park easily between 6pm-10am

The Inn is located in the heart of Wells, a stone's throw from the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace.Being a very old town centre Inn there is no customer parking, but the nearest car park is around ten minutes walk away and we parked there safely for two nights

Gorgeous old place full of charm and character really lovely, staff amazing and helpful, bedroom was clean and well appointed. Only drawback was stairs for a disabled person were difficult!! The booking site didn’t show how to ask for a ground floor room. But I would phone the hotel direct next time I decide to visit Wells.

An absolute great stay at the White Hart Inn, a terrific location, a great room, breakfast was lovely, and the food in the pub/restaurant was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to stay in Wells.

There was no lift in this hotel. Granted its an old building but we were in a superior room ! Which was outside the main building but to access our room we had to climb a very very steep flight of stairs ...as we our both in our 70's this wasn't ideal...Also on our girst morning there was no hot water for showers or washing...when i enquired i was told the boiler was being serviced....it would have been nice to have been informed before hand

Room was lovely. Clean and comfortable. Water/tea/coffee facilities were replenished daily, which was nice.

An authentic Faulty Towers experience for brave guests who like being degraded for their own money! No working WiFi, you'll be lucky if TVset in your room works and the room door open without force. Room 4 is designed to infuriate guests - it's a former fire exit with a green escape light on all night and a glass door that leads to a fire staircase. According to one of the managers to open room 4 door you need to kick or push it... Room 7 is less cold then room 4, because there's just a single window frame there, but it gets stuck and only staff knows how to "wiggle" it down. It's above a beer garden, meaning you'll be enjoying drucken conversions till well after midnight and a member of staff will definitely tell you that the people downstairs have the right to be there, but they will eventually leave. Keep in mind, there are no dedicated members of staff who look after 15 guest rooms. You have to beg for help at the bar and be prepared to hear the same reply "we are very busy at the bar to help you upstairs" to switch on/ fix/ open one of many broken appliances upstairs...(pictures on the website were taken probably 20 years ago) Cleaners doesn't mop or even vacuum clean the floor, don't dust surfaces; and they occasionally make your bed with your socks being left under a duvet, on some occasions they don't show up at all. However, cooked breakfast was good, on the day, when the cook didn't show up, there was really not much to choose from. You'll need eyemask, earplugs

Room was spotless, Staff were amazing , had a great atmosphere in the bar. Food was good and tasty.

We had an enjoyable stay at the white hart. The building is very old but our room was across a courtyard at the back and it was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom great shower too. We had an evening meal and breakfast cooked to order both of which were really nice. All the staff are great very accommodating and friendly. Would stay there again. Wells is a beautiful little town

Our room was clean however, The blind was broken, bathroom sink cracked toilet dirty, extract fan covered in fluff, towel rail didnt work, non of the portable appliances have been safety checked. Main door to room very hard to open cobwebs hanging from ceiling We mentioned this to staff who advised a Manager would be in touch, no contact at all.

Ive stayed hwre several times in the past as l visit my brother,the rooms are comfortable altho sometimes dusty,the staff are friendly & welcoming too,its perfectly situated for easy access to wells high street,full of character this place is definately worth a visit.......

Not as advertised. I had requested and told we would have twin beds, we had a double. The shower mechanism didn't work and the staff member said he would take a look, it was never addressed. The room wasn't cleaned after our first day, at breakfast they ran out of things then just didn't bring us what we ordered. The staff were perfectly lovely, but I would not stay again. I will say the tavern was fun.

The room was well appointed, but dividing was to larger rooms next my room was like paper (questionable if any sound proofing and being in historic building does not stop this). Also the guest the next room were very anti-socail playing TV very loud and makes lots of unnecessary noise. The hotel has no reception and very difficult to get help, in very wild and lively pub. They were not interested even when pub closed in the morning to be told of issue. It was nice to have rooms of of a courtyard and door out on to veranda/walkway.

Nice pub, good beer, small room upstairs. Good value for money, but room was basic and poor soundproofing tbh. Would still book again though due to good value

Quite a nice place brilliantly sited with extremely helpful and friendly staff and the bar is lovely. I can't rate it higher was that there was a loud, electric motor noise in my room (4). I couldn't get to sleep and phoned the bar. They said it was a kitchen fridge but couldn't move me. I asked in desperation if they had any earplugs and, rather suspiciously, they did. They worked well. Breakfast room is also weird, but breakfast good.

The hotel is in a good spot in Wells. We found our room a little disappointing and very cramped. Our window opened onto the courtyard, but the lights were very bright all night. Wifi did not work in the room and the TV also didn't work, which were a bit disappointing. The employees were quite cheerful and the breakfast was very good.

A comfortable (superior) room and friendly staff and the White Hart has a great situation. But the TV and wifi weren't working, bathroom mirror was gone and bathroom decoration is looking a bit sad.The courtyard that the room faces on to could also do with a spruce up. In need of a bit more love (or investment!)

We stayed in a room in an annexe to the rear of the hotel grounds -- possibly above former stables when it was a coaching inn. Very cosy and quiet, with an enormous, comfortable bed.

Stayed for one night, in a cozy double room. Very small room with a sink in it. Separate toilet and shower. If you’re over 5 foot tall or large build, you’ll struggle. Light sleeper? there is a skylight that has no blinds. Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room. Didn’t pay a lot but avoid this room choice and upgrade. We would stay there again but not in this room. Staff were great.

Likes:-price, clean, food, selection of drinks at bar, staff friendly. Dislikes:-lack of parking specifically information on this (tried ringing hotel but phone just rang out) Some minor attention to detail (waited at bar 5 minutes while member of staff talked to another member of staff, lack of glasses for juices at breakfast -minor issues really.)

We stayed at The White Hart Hotel in Wells for three nights, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The hotel is charming, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast was exceptional—delicious, abundant, and with a wide variety of choices to suit every taste. The location is perfect for exploring the stunning city of Wells, with its beautiful cathedral and picturesque surroundings just a stone’s throw away. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. We highly recommend The White Hart Hotel to anyone visiting Wells and would happily return in the future!

Fantastic accommodation, full of character, cosy bar, very friendly helpful staff. Perfect location for everything to see. Best full English breakfast we ever had. Great value. Highly recommended. We loved our stay at the White Hart.

The staff were very friendly and helpful especially at check in ofering to carry bags. We ate at the hotel as well with mixed results. The bedroom was large, clean, as was the bathroom. Some silly bits wrong, the kettle just reached the socket making it slightly unsafe. Had to put hot mugs on a new chest which wasnt ideal but all in all excellent stay, fab breakfast

We had a lovely stay at The White Hart, great location, great food, fantastic choice of local drinks and snacks. The staff were above and beyond helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay again.

This was an old pub with accomodation and very atmospheric. Staff could not do enough and were very helpful. Food was glorious and portions very large. Breakfast was cooked to order. Room was very clean with ample tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries. Very close to the centre of Wells which was ideal for sightseeing and shopping.
