Excellent accomodation. King Chuck in a past life with Diana stayed there also. No parking on site and street parking is all on meters and only free after 5.30 pm until 8.30 in morning. Council under cover parking is available close by at a cost.

Nice place, bit "faded glory". big room and nice bed. Service was poor with reception closed a lot of the time and the night phone ringing out. Bizarre management of bars - basement bar doesn't serve wine, 1st floor bar doesn't have draught beer (but both say you can buy from the other bar and bring it up/down). Main wine bar gave us a wine menu of 8-9 reds, then after we chose, told us they only had one choice available. Such a shame that such a grand old place has been let go.

Enjoyable stay and our room was perfect for our stay. Very old heritage hotel, but also very tired. Could do with a spruce up. Mid city and relatively easy access to most things. Parking was inconvenient having to use 2 hour parking meters, then the multiple story car park for a few hours. Had to leave the car parked out in the street overnight because the car park closed at 9.30 and the concert we attended didn’t end till after 10. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast and lunch in the dining room was very nice, good selection and not overly expensive. Would stay there again.

Reception was very helpful. No onsite parking so will need to find street parking. To get to the front door you have to manoeuvre past homelss people that I could see was worrying for older guests. We ate in the lounge and staff were fantastic. Bed was amazing. Room could do with a spruce up but was comfortable.

Pro: Warm and friendly reception staff. Central location walkable distance. Perfect place if you’re staying for the annual tulip festival. It’s outside the door step. Easy to get to the hotel if you’re coming by train. Great parks and restaurants around the area. Loved the heritage decor. Cons: no private parking. Street parking only. The council parking was suppose to be accessible but due to public holiday weekend it was closed. The rooms are not sound proof, you can hear traffic from the street and also kids running around upstairs and crying late at night and early morning . Which made our stay restless.

We had a fun and informative “Ghost Tour and Paranormal Investigation” at the hotel which included dinner as well. It looks like the tours run there quite regularly. We booked a room for the night which was very comfortable. We loved the old world atmosphere and the location is perfect for walking to shops and restaurants etc.

I made a quick mid week trip to Bendigo to visit the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the fabulous Bendigo Art Gallery. The Hotel Shamrock offered the best price for my needs and was a very handy short walk nearby. The pre-arrival process was a bit odd a they kept emailing me asking for the same information. I ended up ignoring it, which thankfully didn't pose any problem checking in. I was met by a very friendly staff member who then put my luggage in storage as I was a bit early. She ensured I knew directions to where I was going next. The hotel is an grand old building and has necessary mod cons without compromising the heritage. My room was very clean & comfortable, with a generous sized bathroom. A great location for the arts, parks, shopping, food & wine as well as the railway station. I would stay again

Second stay at this hotel. Comfortable room with good bed and updated bathroom. Air con worked well. The only disappoiment was no live music which was a shame as it was popular and brought in a lot of patrons. We didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment on the food. Great central location with parking next door

Great location, lovely period hotel but the rooms need work. The rooms are so far from soundproof it was hard to sleep. All the showers (we had 3 rooms) were really dirty so not inviting. On the surface the bedrooms were nice just don’t look too closely.

The room itself was okay however the bath was dirty with someones hair in it and also in the fridge and on the couch. The wifi is a smidge dodgy too. Customer service was good however its rather lengthy to check in and check out, lots of socialising for people who may struggle with it. The elavator was absolutely foul smelling. I dont think I'd come back here unless i absolutely had to.

It is a beautiful old building but is very tired. The bathroom was dirty with long dark hairs over the floor and mold and slime in the shower. So disappointing. Old is acceptable, dirty is not.

My wife and I have stayed at the Shamrock numerous times over the past 2+ decades, and it never disappoints. We love the historic value, the layout and feel of the property, and the character it exudes. We have stayed on different floors in different rooms and suites. The property is private, restful and quiet, with the exception of normal street noise. This visit, we noticed that some upkeep is necessary. I can only speak for our room and the main areas, but could do with some new carpet, deep cleaning, and a lick of paint. Our guest room would benefit from some new furniture, window coverings and some decent cleaning. The cleanliness, as well as the dated and worn furnishings and decorations are letting your standard down. Beautiful bathroom, but lacking a proper shower, which is simply mounted over the bath. Property Manager, you could very easily turn this property into a genuine 4 or 5-star hotel with very little effort or cost, and we would love to see it updated! I’m sure we will be back.

Historic building in the heart of the town. Our room was clean and mostly quiet, except for big noises that everyone would be hearing. Clean room, decent bed. Smart TV wasn't working, and WiFi was spotty at best. Minimal extras. Would return as it was good value and well-placed.

We arrived in the late afternoon, had to check in via the sports bar with an employee who never checked people in before. The manager was very friendly but kept having to rush off to serve plates to the dining guests. After awhile, we were able to check in and got told parking was available via the council carpark only so we parked there and decided to eat at the hotel. Our first drinks order was forgotten and they had to come over to us after an hour while waiting for food to ask if we got our food yet. I’d recommend staying mid week and not on a public holiday or weekend to avoid understaffing issues.

Parking was not inclusive - no information on this. No one to check out to - even though it was 8am, office was supposed to be manned at 7.30am. Not clear signs at parking area where to access hotel. Check in process was lengthy and painful despite booking online.

Hotel Shamrock has such potential; it could be such a beautiful, historic place in Bendigo. Presently, quite rundown. Stayed here many years ago on a family road trip and it was stunning. The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. Hopefully someday it will be renovated back to its past glory.

Location is excellent, staff friendly & polite, however they don't seem to appreciate expediancy - maybe time works slower in a regional centre! 20 minutes to check in, way too long. Ordered a drink at the bar, took 30 minutes to receive, shouldn't be an issue, but the other 3 people in our group had already finished their drinks and were looking to head out for dinner before mine had arrived. Note: we chased the bar staff twice and it still took 30 minutes to get a basic draught beer. The room we were in was a good size - better than most places we've stayed, but must be at the end of the hot water line as water pressure non-existent during times of high demand, same for temperature. Stayed two nights, 2 luke warm dribbling showers - not ideal in winter. Toilet cistern leaked at every flush, seriously, do the cleaners not notice something as obvious as this! Overall the hotel is in an excellent location with great history - can't fault this aspect. But the hotel accommodation also appears to be somewhat dated, lacking maintenance and probably overdue for renewal. Would consider staying again. But only in summer when a cold shower is acceptable.

I loved the beautiful, ornate, historical building. It was also super convenient having an in house quality restaurant. The location was extremely central. My only concern as a single female was the separate carpark. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Dinner in the hotel was beautiful. Dinner was efficient and tasty. Breakfast was appalling. Had full breakfast, bacon rock hard, fried eggs hard, budget toast and it took 45 minutes to arrive in an empty restaurant. Hotel full of history

Lovely old building with lots of history. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Dinner was nice the night before, however breakfast was very ordinary. There was a shortage of staff and breakfast took a long time to come out, came out cold. Some people were turned away. The staff that were there were doing their best. Overall as pleasant stay.

Good value in the centre of town. A beautiful heritage hotel. The food and drinks are fine. Lots of restaurants and cafes around. Near the park. Parking was a problem on New Yesr’s Eve. The staff were great.

Poor receptionist - didn't know anything about carparking and/or if the dining services were not available after 3pm, no dining services between 3pm & 5pm and no other options given, no room service, don't know how to make anything but a flat white, noise level - great to have functions but how about other guests who are travelling and trying to get some sleep!!!! :-(

Historic hotel, premium spa room are very good. Food and cocktails are excellent BUT hotel charged us twice for accommodation. Doubled the accommodation charge by also charging through our credit card as well.

White the staff was very welcoming and the location is fantastic, the truth is that the hotel is quite old and not maintained properly. During my stay the ceiling leaked water in my room and it was not a very pleasant experience. Also the following day, at breakfast we had to wait for 1 hour for breakfast with no apologies.
