The hotel is operating while undergoing major repair/refurbishment. The neighborhood is best described as marginal. There are row houses and tenements a block away. The residents and businesses just pile their bags of trash and garbage on the street corners. Hotel parking is across the street and late night access is best achieved with a large armed escort. The elevators are rigged to require a room key to operate and are somewhat stubborn which can leave you using the stairs. Staff are quite helpful and most have a sense of humor about the various issues. Not an unpleasant stay, but the advertised price per night implies a somewhat different experience.

The newly renovated hotel is nice, and in the center of the middle of York. The staff was enthusiastic and welcoming. The lobby, especially the bar, is beautiful. The room was well-appointed, comfortable, and clean. The rooftop bar, however, which we were very much looking forward to, was deeply disappointing. Management should seriously re-think their rooftop concept. For a high-end hotel (with room rates to match), the rooftop shouldn't be a watering hole for wahoo's and power drinkers. The bar was grossly under-stocked, the decor and the seating was uninviting, and the poor ladies at the bar were struggling to keep up with the demanding drunks 3-deep at the bar. It was repulsive. Your rooftop bar--the only one in the city--should exceed the vibe you're trying to create with the rest of the hotel. Here's a hint: cornhole games on your rooftop patio are not the way to go.

Beautiful Hotel! Staff were awesome. Bridget checked us in and was very helpful arranging storage for our bikes. We had easy access to the rail trail and then hit the bars and restaurants. Fig and Barrel had the Best Strawberry Gimlet. Dinner at Men in the Kitchen and drinks were another WIN. We will definitely stay again! Oh...and the rooftop bar is amazing!
