About this property
Set in a converted cluster of fisherman’s houses along Portree Harbour the hotel offers plenty of character and quirks. There are 17 en-suite bedrooms with all expected facilities.Due to the nature of the building there is no lift and rooms are only accessible via stairs. We do not provide porterage, and the hotel is on the pier itself so there is a walk up some stairs or a hill to get into the town area.We offer Room only Rates (providing overnight accommodation only) and Bed and Breakfast Rates (providing overnight accommodation and breakfast based on the maximum occupancy of the room). Dinner is not included in these room rates.The Rosedale Restaurant is an intimate dining room on the 1st floor of our harbour front hotel. We aim to offer fresh, seasonal produce with an emphasis on local seafood. With views over Portree Bay we hope to serve you a memorable meal from start to finish.Please note: Dinner is not included in your room rate. All dinner reservations are made on a first come first serve basis, we do not prioritize hotel guests.We would advise you to make reservations for any events/restaurants you wish to attend as Skye gets busy very quickly and its difficult to find availability on the day.We are a dog friendly hotel only, with a £15.00 per night/per dog charge. We allow a maximum of 2 dogs per room. Please be aware that guests are liable for any damages and/or soiling on hotel property caused by your dog(s) and will be charged accordingly. Guests will be charged a prepayment of the total cost of the room at the time of booking.Please inform in advance of your expected arrival time. The restaurant for breakfast was fantastic and they did a great job fitting us in for dinner in the evening. There was a flood on the first floor while we were there so we had to navigate jumping over a large puddle. Our room was on the first floor and immediately outside was the street so we could never have our curtains open. The hotel is at the bottom of a very steep hill and there’s limited street parking nearby so I wouldn’t recommend anyone with mobility issues or elderly staying here.

Hotel is older so there is no lift/elevator and we had to go up a few flights of stairs with our luggage. Other than that, the hotel was fine and the restaurant was really good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is difficult right by the hotel since there is not a lot of it. We had to park in a paid lot a few blocks away.

The entry to the hotel is a bit unwelcoming, but the staff made up for it. Parking! As in, there isn’t any and it’s down a tight, steep hill. The room was much cuter than expected and you are right on the water. The food at the restaurant was very good- especially the seafood chowder! Service was a bit slow, but no worries. The staff, again, was so cheerful it made up for it.

We enjoyed our 2 nights at the Rosedale. It’s a quirky old building with lots of stairs but the rooms were nicely appointed and clean. Comfortable beds and lovely breakfast.

Beautiful location (waterfront), extremely friendly and helpful staff, close to lots of walkable dining options,…. Only con was that there were very few close parking spaces. One night we ended up parking in a pay to park lot about 5-10 minutes walk away. Not ideal, but not a deal breaker. Still would recommend this hotel if staying in Portree.

This is an old and funky hotel in a great location right on the water and in the heart of the town. The room is fairly small but it was comfortable. The restaurant had good food but kind of a bland atmosphere. I recommend checking out the sister location at the Portree Hotel and Antlers bar. This hotel would be touch with people with mobility issues as the hallways and stairs are pretty tight. The one major con was one hallway in particular really smelled badly of cat pee. Maybe at one point this was a cat-friendly hotel but it was really bad. Other than that it was fine for my time there.

The staff was great and breakfast was good. the rug through out hotel where very dirty. The bath did not have any curtain or blinds and you can see into bathroom. Use our coats to cover. Room was ok and bed so so. Understand that skye is very popular and demands higher prices but i would not stay again.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was claen and fresh. Only downside is the hotel was suffering a little bit from end-of season tiredness. Carpets cleaned and decor re-freshed and I'm sure it will be lovely. Bedroom furnish was clean but a little dated.

This place is an ok stay. It’s not horrible but it’s not fantastic either. Our room had a bathtub with a shower head BUT there was no shower head holder so you had to hold that the entire time you bathe. (Which got water everywhere) There was also mold on the ceiling from moisture and also in the bathtub grout) There’s no onsite parking for the facility & the fire alarm went off three times at 8am.

Very quaint older hotel right on the harbor. Staff was fantastic. The room itself was very clean but the hallways were a little musty. But given that the hotel was right on the water it was understandable. I would definitely stay again.

I think there was a recent flood at the floors were all damp and dirty. There was a dehumidifier in the bedroom too. Beautiful surroundings and close to restaurants Staff were lovely too and breakfast was great

For $500 for two nights I expected better. The location on the waterfront was excellent and I have no complaints about the interior of the room. We were given a ground floor room overlooking the quay. People were walking by two feet away from our window and could look into the room. The "view" of the harbor was mainly a view of a large truck parked outside. The ceiling was not well insulated for sound. We could here every step taken in the room above. The corridor leading outside had a self-closing door that slammed whenever anyone left. We could hear it clearly even though we were two rooms away.

Fantastic old place on the water in charming Portree. Our room was huge and very clean and comfortable. I wish we could have gotten a water view, but our table in the dining room allowed us to enjoy the view. The staff is charming and works hard to see that guests are comfortable and happy.

Rosedale offered a harbour view and was walkable to the main town centre. The room was quite small on a below grade room, some passerbys and cars looking onto the room. Be sure to ask for above grade. Also the bars were open quite late and lots of music hooting and hollering until 2 am. Breakfast was free and excellent.

The sea view across the harbor is incomparable. It’s like a storybook. Portree is a delightful village with good restaurants and cute shops. As far as Rosedale, the breakfast was hot and fresh. We also had a problem where our ferry crossing was cancelled and the staff was fantastic in helping us arrange an extra night accommodation even though they were sold out. I couldn’t have asked for better.

This property has a nice location at the harbour. I reserved our room months ago, but was still unable to secure a room with a view. It was very, very busy in Portree during our stay! The check in was very good, fast, efficient and even an offer to help with our luggage. This was important as I was left with the luggage while my husband drove off to the Carpark (no onsite parking). Our room was a bit small, but it was clean with amenities that were appreciated. The service staff in the bar and restaurant were excellent and the food was very good. Our dinners were the fish and chips and the seafood linguine. Our 2nd night, we enjoyed food from the chippy on the hotel’s patio, with a couple of beers from the Rosedale bar. That was brilliant. All in all, not a bad stay.

The restaurant for breakfast was fantastic and they did a great job fitting us in for dinner in the evening. There was a flood on the first floor while we were there so we had to navigate jumping over a large puddle. Our room was on the first floor and immediately outside was the street so we could never have our curtains open. The hotel is at the bottom of a very steep hill and there’s limited street parking nearby so I wouldn’t recommend anyone with mobility issues or elderly staying here.

The sea view across the harbor is incomparable. It’s like a storybook. Portree is a delightful village with good restaurants and cute shops. As far as Rosedale, the breakfast was hot and fresh. We also had a problem where our ferry crossing was cancelled and the staff was fantastic in helping us arrange an extra night accommodation even though they were sold out. I couldn’t have asked for better.

Rosedale offered a harbour view and was walkable to the main town centre. The room was quite small on a below grade room, some passerbys and cars looking onto the room. Be sure to ask for above grade. Also the bars were open quite late and lots of music hooting and hollering until 2 am. Breakfast was free and excellent.

This is an old and funky hotel in a great location right on the water and in the heart of the town. The room is fairly small but it was comfortable. The restaurant had good food but kind of a bland atmosphere. I recommend checking out the sister location at the Portree Hotel and Antlers bar. This hotel would be touch with people with mobility issues as the hallways and stairs are pretty tight. The one major con was one hallway in particular really smelled badly of cat pee. Maybe at one point this was a cat-friendly hotel but it was really bad. Other than that it was fine for my time there.

Hotel is older so there is no lift/elevator and we had to go up a few flights of stairs with our luggage. Other than that, the hotel was fine and the restaurant was really good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is difficult right by the hotel since there is not a lot of it. We had to park in a paid lot a few blocks away.

The entry to the hotel is a bit unwelcoming, but the staff made up for it. Parking! As in, there isn’t any and it’s down a tight, steep hill. The room was much cuter than expected and you are right on the water. The food at the restaurant was very good- especially the seafood chowder! Service was a bit slow, but no worries. The staff, again, was so cheerful it made up for it.

We enjoyed our 2 nights at the Rosedale. It’s a quirky old building with lots of stairs but the rooms were nicely appointed and clean. Comfortable beds and lovely breakfast.

This place is an ok stay. It’s not horrible but it’s not fantastic either. Our room had a bathtub with a shower head BUT there was no shower head holder so you had to hold that the entire time you bathe. (Which got water everywhere) There was also mold on the ceiling from moisture and also in the bathtub grout) There’s no onsite parking for the facility & the fire alarm went off three times at 8am.
